The Glenview Hotel And Leisure Club - Delgany

We like the Glenview- it suits our style. and the location is great, especially if you can get a room facing down the Glen. Though it could do with some TLC - a few of the upstairs corridor carpets are getting frayed and some of the paint in our bathroom was cracked. The food is not always up to the standard we would expect in a 4* hotel, e.g only a […] few small strawberries in a strawberry meringue and hardly any pear in a pear and almond tart. But the staff are friendly and welcoming. Swimming in the warm pool before breakfast is always something to look forward to. And it's great to see the mix of people who use the hotel for weddings, christening/first communion/ family occasions. The Glenview must be doing something right. Read more

Hotel is dated and in my opinion a 3 star hotel. Service seemed very stretched. Bar service very slow. Restaurant service in the bar was very poor - waited 30 minute to get a table cleaned and our next course. Desert was rock hard - obviously made in the morning and then frozen. The hotel was very satisfactory and good value. Since we live in Dublin it was ideal for a short break with not much travel. The kids loved the pool. Nice room. Shower/bathroom not great (why do they always have curtains, where the bathroom gets flooded??). Also, heat was switched off centrally at night, so very cold in room late at night.

The water in the room was brown. I ran a bath and was surprised to see the stark contrast between the brown water and the white bath. I reported it to Linda the Duty manager and although she agreed it was not as clear as it could be she could only offer a shower in another room on the same floor a couple of doors down the hall. The water was nearly […] as brown in this room. After consulting with her manager Linda told us that that was the colour of the water in the hotel and there endeth the issue. I have stayed in this hotel several times over the last ten years and I must say that austerity has really kicked in there. We were sent to the wrong rooms twice.Ended up in two rooms on different floors. Steak dinners came out wrong twice! Ice came in the whisky, and when told it was wrong, the bar tender poured the whiskey off the ice and gave it to me... Effectively watered down my drink. In all the night was a great disappointment... At least the breakfast was nice.

We were staying here for a wedding and the hotel was lovely. Beautiful surroundings and very good for the price. Lovely breakfast and very comfortable room. Slept well and enjoyed our stay.
