"Low Price, Low expectations, Still not met!"
From a far this is a cute little place right on the Marina. Up close and personal - not so cute. We arrived 25 minutes early and our room was not ready. We walked around the Marina until check in time 3pm and then were allowed in the room ten minutes after that. First impressions the comforter looked dirty and like someone had just gotten out of it. […] When we pulled back the comforter the rest lf the bed didn't look much better and the pillows were sad little things that further flattened out when we looked at them. The remote control for the TV didn't work not that we spent much time watching TV. The thing which was the most confounding about the room is when we left, the curtains are in front of the door. So in order to get out and not leave the room completely visible you have to perform some gymnastics to get the curtains to close while your closing the door so as to not catch the curtains - how fun. And last the continental breakfast. Beyond basic. The orange juice machine would give out nothing but orange colored water - it was just SAD! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"We were very happy with our stay."
We really liked the location and the hotel staff. Our room was comfortable with great view of Oakland, the water and the hills. If you like crisp and new you may be disappointed, we were not.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Do not stay here"
The bed was horrible. The shower was gross. The hotel staff left a wet towel hanging on the door. It was not a good experience overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Charming, inexpensive, romantic secret of Alameda"
Next to a yacht club, this little hotel is on the water with romantic morning views of the yacht club, the channel between Alameda and Oakland, and the sunrise over the Oakland hills. The front staff is very, very nice and very welcoming (the best of any hotel I've been to lately, and I travel for a living). I am always relaxed at this hotel, and I […] stay here frequently for business, but also find the atmosphere quite romantic due to its location. This is one of my favorite hotels in the Oakland/Alameda area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and quiet"
This hotel is in a quiet marina area. The neighborhood felt safe. Oakland is nearby through the tunnel and it's also possible to catch a ferry into San Francisco from here. My room was clean but could have done with an update. There were a couple of burns in the carpet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location"
Clean room and beautiful view of boats. Good place for overnight stay! Convenient location for the monthly antique market.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"retreat-like"
Peaceful retreat on the Sunday night-Monday morning I stayed. Nice view of harbor and city beyond. Working internet allowed added productivity. Friendly service and assistance. Close to stores and restaurants as needed. Reasonable rate. Comfortable bed. Clean inside and out. I will keep this location on my East Bay stay list.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Better than expected. Nice Location"
Good. very friendly, helpful desk clerk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Marina Village Inn is an older Inn which has had some recent remodeling and upgrade of some of the plumbing, etc. It is clean each time we stay there, but the "guestcare" lacks a bit. At the price Hotels.com got it for us we must say we are quite happy. We haven't used their pool for several years, but it looks OK. We stay there maybe twice per year. […] Thanks Hotels.com ! "It's all about location"
This is a older, no frill place=yet the location can't be beat. If you wan toff the beaten track, quiet this is your place. The room and bed was sooo small. The room was right next to the stairwell! No privacy at all!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
So nice to be right next to a picturesque harbor with dozens of sail boats, gently jostling in the Bay. It was quiet there, by the water, and the view of the East Bay Hills was lovely. It felt, pleasantly isolated there, away from the drum of a city. Service with a smile. The only thing missing was a DVD player. Sweet little swimming pool, nice, spacious […] bathroom.I will return! "Refuge in busy city next to Yacht club"
The hotel is a little older, with some paint chips in the bathroom. It was confortable, though, and next to a Yacht club with two nice waterfront parks to walk along. A refuge in a noisy city. I am a repeat customer and stay here peridocially on return trips. The breakfast is nothing to speak of, though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Relatively inexpensive place in the East Bay."
Pretty location but hard to find and nothing to walk to nearby. Hotel was OK, breakfast marginal, bed OK but not particularly comfortable. Wi-fi did not work on the first night we were there. A little noisy.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant Surprise"
The Bay Area was booked pretty solid during my visit. Most hotel prices were outrageous. This was still reasonable which made me hesitant. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a nice, boutique hotel. Clean, comfortable room. Location is a bit off the beaten path, but that is not a bad thing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Last Resort"
Location was good for meeting in Oakland, Busy week in the area so not a lot of options. Was therefore expensive for the level of quality. Run down curtains, poor bed linens, air conditioner could not cool room down. Would stay again only if nothing else was availableGenuine Expedia guest review
"awesome hotel for anyone!"
very awesome stay. great service and nice rooms, beautiful view of sailboatsGenuine Expedia guest review
"Simple and cute"
I loved this place, it was so cute! It's not the cleanest hotel and the service wasn't that great. The guy at the front desk was slightly rude and you could tell that he hated his job. However, my boyfriend and I are simple people and the view we had from our room was stunning! It made up for everything. Not to mention the price for what we got... The […] best deal I've come across by far. It was very quiet as well, which was definitely a plus. If you don't have very high standards for a hotel & you're just looking for a decent place to stay that isn't sketchy/in the middle of Oakland, then this is definitely the place for you! I would stay again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice view needs better maintenance, PAINT"
Nice area next to a water front park, good walking, nice view of boats and water. Wanted to leave the sliding glass door open but the people next to us were smoking on their balcony which was coming into our room, so much for non-smoking rooms. They were also talking loud out on the deck late at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Handy location to Alameda"
The service was really nice. Our pillows were very lumpy. The first morning at breakfast there was no cream cheese for the bagels, the little packets of jelly were hard and unspreadable. We had to ask for cups, etc. The lady was very nice to help us out, but someone had not stocked the cream cheese. The second morning all was well. The room had in the […] past been a smoker's room, and they tried hard to get rid of the odor, and were only half successful. Would we use it again? Probably not. "Much nicer outside than inside"
Extremely small room, funky smell, with the single most uncomfortable bed I've ever attempted to sleep in. We moved hotels after a few days, to one with a similar star rating but one that enabled us to get some rest. Outside area is quaint, right on the marina, and neighborhood is quiet, but staying in that room was just miserable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice but Needs Refurbishing. DON'T ARRIVE AT NIGHT"
The Hotel would be Great if someone with some money would refurbish the rooms and build a bypass to downtown Oakland. The location of the hotel itself, is excellent. Right on the Marina! Very Quiet. The PROBLEM is the drive through Downtown Oakland is a drawback. In fact, I drove through at 10:30 PM. VERY SCARY! People stop on the street and yell racial […] slurs and threats at you. .... That said, the family that runs the hotel is just great! Very friendly and helpful. ...They need to work on the WIFI as well. It cuts out all the time. Details...Small Room....Pretty Clean....Old Fixtures.....Could use some new sheets and pillow cases (they were clean but old)...Safe location once you arrive at the hotel. "NO INTERNET"
They say they have internet and you can connect to something, but my phone is about 50x faster than what passed for internet. No attempt to make amends, supposedly trying to get it fixed, but confirm it works before you book if you plan to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Time for a renovation"
Our first two rooms were really smelly - one of mould and damp, and one of cigarette smoke, and the ac didn't work. They did kindly upgrade us and the staff were really helpful, but unfortunately a renovation is well overdue for this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, could have better room upkeep"
The hotel was at a great location, right next to all of the boats near the water. It was very scenic. I loved being on the ground floor and each hotel room at its own opening to the outdoors. However, the upkeep of the room was much to be desired. When I first walked into the room, there was a musty smell. Also, there was only one soap bar, either for […] shower or for washing your hands. In addition, the shampoo bottle looked like it had already been used since it wasn't completely full. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Scenic"
It was a little difficult getting to the hotel - many small back streets - but once you are there it is quite scenic with greenery, directly on the water at the marina (that you cannot go onto). There is an apartment building across the parking lot and not many places to eat nearby (mostly residential). The rooms open to the outside so you have your […] own little place and you don't have to walk through long hallways to get outside but our room did smell like it used to be for smokers. The room was small, seemed to have been fixed up recently. Small TV. The pool was cold (this was late July) and full of bugs so we didn't go in. The listing said that there was a fitness center off property but the check-in person didn't know what I was talking about. He also said the pool "probably closed around 9pm". We stayed here for one night after driving with our final destination being San Francisco (why pay extra to stay in the city for the first night). At around 11:30pm, someone called our room - we let it ring because we were sleeping. Around midnight someone called again so I answered it. The front desk was calling to ask who was staying in the room because someone had listed rooms incorrectly (I'm guessing the guy who didn't know when the pool closed). I don't want to hold a mistake against them but it was annoying to be woken up twice for something like that. Breakfast was pretty basic, nothing hot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"We liked it!"
Nice older hotel with character (not sterile like the chains), nice toiletries and amenities, and really friendly front desk service. We had a partial marina view as well from our second floor room. My only complaint would be that the walls were a bit thin so we could hear the "neighbor's" baby crying (thankfully it didn't last long). Overall, though, […] I would say this was a good place, and we would stay here again, and its location on Alameda island is great. Near shops and good restaurants, and convenient to Oakland Airport. Try Soleil's (and African cuisine restaurant close by). Casual, friendly service, and delicious food! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad Experience"
My room is 223, I can never connect to the wifi, the receiption says it's because the signal is too weak. It's too far away. It's unbelievable to me The ac is window type, no warm/hot air even you switch to hot. It's hard to find the inn when at night It is not worth for the priceGenuine Expedia guest review

"Staff and manager had a bad attitude"
This was the worst hotel I ever stayed in. Service at check and through out or stay was non-existent. Safe didn't work and no one knew how to fix it. Paint peeling off and missing in the bath room. Coffee maker, but only one cup. I picked this hotel because it had an excellent rating at hotels.com. I won't use there recommendation to pick a hotel again.
