"Hotel with lots of promise"
Nicely appointed / designed spacious rooms with high cielings gives this hotel a unique feel. Service was excellent, but valet parking was slower than I expected. Lighting in the bathroom was not adequate, and the shower head made the shower experience unpleasant, like being attacked by a crowd of acupuncturists. Lobby bar was closed which was a relief […] as some reviews complained about noise. If they open a location in the lobby that doesn't interfere with guests this place is going to be even better. We were super pleased with our stay. The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. The location was ideal and we could walk to anywhere and then leave the craziness behind. The noise was never and issue. The bar down stairs doesn't seem to be in use right now. It is a city so you do hear a big truck or car stereo go buy, but never heard or […] saw anyone else in the hotel itself. We have decided that this is our new go to spot when staying in New Orleans. "We will definitely return to Loft 523!"
Upon check-in, we received an immediate room upgrade. Our room was contemporary, spacious and attractive, with soaring ceilings and large windows that overlooked trees and the beautiful old brick building across the street. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well-appointed. The staff was responsive to each request, and helped to […] make our stay delightful. "The ONLY place to stay in New Orleans"
Finally, I found a clean, quiet, convenient and nice place to stay! I was so impressed with the layout of the room that I came home thinking maybe moving to a loft space is in my future. The only bummer was that there is no hotel bar or coffee shop so that was a bit inconvenient. It looks like they are in the process of remodeling though so maybe it's […] coming. Either way, I'll never stay anywhere else when I visit New Orleans. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close enough to walk"
Loft 523 was in a great location. It was within walking distance of several great restaurants. Parking was a pain though. The hotel does not have free parking and daily valet there costs $32 (although this does include unlimited in/out service). The room was beautiful, but at times, too dimly lit. The soft lighting is romantic but the lights in the […] bathroom were so low that it was difficult to apply makeup. The employees that worked at the front desk were nice and provided advice when asked. My biggest complaint is probably the fact that there was no internet for 2 out of the 3 days I stayed there. Also, I hate that the maid service came so early in the morning. No, I don't want my room cleaned at 9am -- I'm still in it. I wish the maid service came at noon or later. Also, if I asked for the maid service to come later, they would give me a call later in the day and ask if I was ready for my room to be cleaned and give me a bit of an attitude if I asked them to come another time. Overall the hotel was great, there were just a few small things I would change. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a good room, but great staff made it right"
Here are the best things about Loft 523: the staff is outstanding (professional, personable, polite); the location is great; and the price is quite low. All that being said, I couldn't stay there even 1 night. There were a number of things I didn't like. To check in, you have to feed a meter or park illegally; there is no passenger zone out front. There […] is also no sign or number on the exterior of the property; look carefully at pics and Street View before you go! And if you are sensitive to chemicals in the air (like me) you should know there's a powerful diffuser burning in the very small lobby area 24/7. It burned my throat and my eyes within 5 mins. When I got up to the room, it got worse. I found a used hand lotion bottle top lying on the hutch next to the TV, and the DVD player had long, discarded hairs on it. ugh! I went right back downstairs and told all this to Stephanie at the front desk. She was wonderful! I immediately had a full and complete apology, a new room waiting for me at Loft 523's nearby sister property, a call to said property notifying them that I was enroute, and a call to the bellhop to come and move my luggage to my new room. As far as I'm concerned, even though I won't stay at Loft 523 again, Stephanie and the rest of the staff made full amends and I was absolutely DELIGHTED with the room that they arranged for me at the International House (check them out!). "great boutique hotel"
The accomodations are beautiful, large and charming. The staff went above and beyond for me. I will stay there again. The only drawback is that the hotel is so tiny, one can drive right past it. There is virtually no room in front to park while checking in and waiting for valet parking for one's car. And, of course, the hotel share's restaurant accomodations […] with the International hotel a 1/4 block away. Not so much of a problem because the area is replete with great restaurants. "Spacious, Clean and Friendly !!"
Clean, spacious rooms with plenty of light and amenities. This hotel is located on a quiet street, close to the Convention center and all the major tourist destinations. If you're looking for a unique hotel stay I'd highly recommend Loft 523.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
OK, if I wanted to find things wrong with Loft523 I could mention the room keys that never work and require reprogramming at the front desk each time, or the surround sound stereo speakers in the room that weren't wired to anything, or the sound of other rooms surround sound late at night late at night. But those items are minor. The place has the great […] vibe of a small boutique loft hotel. The rooms are large, bright and airy, the king bed is very comfortable, large bathroom, etc. The neighborhood feels like SOHO but is only 2 blocks to Canal St and the French Quarters and 3-4 blocks to the river. Being located on the west side of Canal St. you are not in the middle of Tourista 101/Bourbon St. Everything thing is an easy 10-15 minute walk and walking back to the hotel is relaxing. We read in other reviews that the hotel is difficult to find. Well thankfully it has a very subtle facade, but is right next to the Omni hotel on a prominent side street. What's wrong with being hard to find, anyway? We'd definitely consider staying there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to visit, but not sleep"
Probably one of the slickest, trendiest Hotels in NOLA. Staff are wonderful; rooms are spectacular (minimalists concrete lofts with 12 foot vaulted ceilings and huge bathroom); Shower awesome; and Bed, comfy as can be. Why the low rating? BECAUSE IT IS SO NOISY OUSTSIDE THAT YOU CANNOT SLEEP. Unless you plan on being up all night until 5am, this is […] NOT the hotel for you. first there is a bar/lounge attached to the hotel, with a very loud DJ. then, because the club is so small people mill around outside until it closes (at 2am?), but wait there's more . . . across the street there is a 24 hours sports bar where the revelry continues until all hours in the a.m. Trust me I wanted to love this place and come back again and again, but until they put NEW windows that are more sound resistant, I will not. Not to beat a dead horse, but our room was actually on the 3rd floor AWAY from the bar and the sound still came through as if the windows were open. I pity those poor unfortunate souls who were stuck in the 2nd floor rooms above the club facing the street. might as well have rolled your bed into the bar at that point. "Just too many issues..."
I like the boutique aspect to the Loft. It was quaint and actually had very nicely appointed rooms. My room was very large with high ceilings. The decor was modern and I thought the bed was quite comfortable. Sadly, there were just too many issues with my stay to make it satisfactory. 1. The hotel was very hard to find. It was not clearly marked and […] my cab had to circle several times to find the location. 2. The auto lock to my room was broken and I had to attempt to enter 3 times before the hotel manager let me in. 3. The shower was really big and upscale, but the head was broken and it caused the entire bathroom to get wet. 4. MOST IMPORTANT - There is a nightclub downstairs that really gets going on Saturday nights. I was in NOLA for a conference and was working, so it was painful to hear techno music at 2am while I was trying to sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Loft 523 in New Orleans, refreshingly different"
I absolutely loved Loft 523. It seems like so many hotels in this price range all look and feel exactly the same, but this one stands out. The minimalist, urban style is bright and airy, and the combination of materials and carefully chosen textures is truly luxe. You are definitely getting much more design style than in chain hotels! The service was […] top-notch; even though I encountered three different employees at the front desk each remembered me after just one encounter. Free wifi is great too! The location is fantastic, immediately off Camp just a couple of minutes walk to Canal Street and lots of restaurant options. Also just a block from Poydras and many big-name hotels and the Pan Am conference center. I was happy to see that Loft is on a small side street (one lane, one way), but still moments from the major artery roads and all they have to offer. Only downside, and this has been mentioned in other reviews, but Tuesday nights are noisy. The lounge, adjacent to the lobby, holds salsa classes and then transitions to a club a little later in the evening and doesn't settle down until about 2 am. I was on the fourth floor, so while I wasn't hearing the music through the building it was coming in through the (beautiful, large) windows. The hallway was quiet, so I imagine if you get a room that is not facing the street you should have peace and quiet. I was up working anyway so it really didn't bother me (I was grateful for the help staying awake!), but if you are concerned about being well-rested on Wednesday keep this in mind. I will definitely be staying at Loft 523 again the next time I am in town, and thank you hotels.com for getting me a great rate! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

excellent decor and condition, perfect for short or long stays, ideally located the day receptionists very helpful, the International House night staff and taxi booker brilliant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the expense of this hotel it was disappointing - shower was terrible and no bath, couldn't shut the bathroom door without it jamming, a couple of lights didn't work, no sign or street number displayed meant it was very hard to find (both ourselves and taxi/tour operators). The room was very large but this didn't compensate for the general maintenance […] issues and could have provided much better design/facilities to make use of the space. "Great value and location, and huge rooms!"
We had a great time in New orleans and really enjoyed our stay at the Loft. In particular the size of the room was brilliant. Plenty of space to settle in. Also the knowledge, help and advice of the staff on reception was exceptional. Only down sides would be the issue with no internet whilst we were there (which was no doubt beyond the hotels control […] anyway) and the fact that the acoustics didn't seem too good. We could sometimes hear the neighbours (who seemed to have a small dog who liked to bark) and the hall noises. Over-all though it was great value for money and the location suited us perfectly. "Not that impressed"
The Loft is a boutique hotel heavinly inspired by european and north african trends. It looks nice and impressive but the whole hotel feels a bit "cold". The bathroom is very big and feels very trendy but the shower heads (two in total) are very high up on the wall so if you are a woman and you don't want to get your hair wet you will not enjoy it. […] My partner is quite tall and he did not enjoy it either. But it would look great in a film shoot and that is the feel you get with the whole place. We were supposed to get a welcome gift upon arrival but nothing was waiting for us in the room and the receptionist did not say a word about it. When I asked the next morning we were supposed to have received a voucher for welcome drinks at a nearby bar. The receptionist apologized and we received a USD10 credit towards the price of the room (which was a nice gesture). Ok location but I would not stay there again. If you want southern hospitality then stay at Le Pavillon since it is much nicer and friendlier but not as trendy as the Loft. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Super sexy room. Close to Bourbon, casino, and cruise terminal. Can't wait to go back. Great people and fantastic price. Oh! The room!!!! Wife was a bit upset that room did not have the tub shown in their ad, but for me the shower made up for it. Ask if you're getting tub or shower.

Upon arrival, Shannon was extremely welcoming and made check in quite easy. She has such a wonderful personality and even remembered us when we saw her at the sister property International House the following night. As far as our room is concerned, it was exceptionally clean and well designed. The valet, however, took far too long to arrive. Waiting 35 minutes for one's car to arrive is inexcusable, especially when the charge is around $35. Overall, though, I will be staying at Loft 523 again. It is an amazing value relative to all the other options in the area for the quality and cleanliness.
"Bring some bubble bath and candles!"

My girl friend was staying here for her birthday weekend, so I booked a room for myself. I stayed with her the first night since she had a room for 2 nights (her husband stayed the 2nd night) and had my own room for the 2nd night. I was hoping to get moved into my room early since I had a hangover; the front desk clerk, Rachel, promised to call when my room was available but never did. The hotel is in a great location, as we walked to a variety of bars. There was an on-site bar with a good selection, great ambiance and fair pricing. The over-sized floor plan and modern decor of the rooms can't be beat. More toiletries could have been offered, but the Aveda quality products were appreciated. We were able to get late night delivery from a local restaurant and the hotel offered Whole Foods snacks I could pickup at the desk or have sent to the room for an extra fee. Unfortunately, I found the snacks weren't available for pickup at the desk so I had them sent over from their sister hotel a block over with the room delivery fee. My only real compliant with this hotel was the mildew smell of the elevator and hallways (especially in the 4th floor hall). Overall, I would love to stay here again (and bring my own bubble bath to really enjoy the big and beautiful tub)!

..... and friendly, comfortable and quiet! Great stay during jazz fest, perfect location, close to everything but allowing you to retreat for some shut-eye whenever you feel like it. Helpful and discreet staff, hip furniture, amazing bathroom... what's not to love?

Our second stay at Loft 523 did not disappoint. Friendly staff and great accomodations round out this small boutique hotel just outside the French Quarter. The rooms are large with very high ceilings, huge windows and a contemporary "loft" style decor. Nice contrast to the usual NOLA hotel experience. I highly recommend.
"Minimalist But Comfortable"
04/05/14 spikemobile Newport, Rhode Island
We visited in March 2014, a time of year when New Orleans is pleasantly cool for wandering and exploration. The hotel is in an excellent location for the central city and French Quarter. We had a junior suite: a large, minimally furnished room, but pleasant and comfortable. The staff were friendly, and helpful in giving city advice. The hotel has no restaurant, but a large and potentially very hip bar area. However with no indication on the outside that a comfortable bar is there, it was invariably empty. This may be by design, as staffing, like the room furnishings, is minimal. But a fine, cool, place to stay to explore this extraordinary city. We would go again.
"Never stay here, a homophobic hotel..."
03/12/14 savaval New York
We stayed here for a week, the hotel has a computer right next to the concierge desk. An employee of the Gravier Street Social Club, which is the bar in their lobby, took it upon themselves to post remarks about lesbians on our business FB page, creating a firestorm for us when we returned back east. This kind of invasion of privacy, especially considering the content they posted was beyond incredulous. We had NO issues with any of their employees, we didn't steal anything, break anything, there was simply no reason for someone to basically steal our identity and offend thousands of our FB friends, supporters and employees, many of whom are gay and have gay relatives. And to top it all off, the owners chose to do nothing to compensate our stay. In my 35 plus years of traveling, I have never experienced such apathy with regards to a customer, let alone an incident that was clearly their fault. Their employee admitted to posting on our account, and when the the owners did call me, they said that they "chose not to comp our stay". I have had nights compensated by other hotels simply because the television did not work. And here, we experienced basically identity theft and they did nothing. I had to apologize to our FB fans, friends, supporters and employees for offensive remarks that I did not post, it was humiliating and extremely hurtful on my end and also to my employees. This should be a HUGE red flag to anyone even considering staying here.
"Great Modern Stay!"
02/08/14 Sinarta C Greenwell Springs, Louisiana
Stayed here for the weekend for a pre- birthday/ and a wedding! I loved this location! Rooms are very spacious and bathrooms are huge. This is the hotel for you if you love modern spaces. Everything about the hotel screams modern. Platform bed is very comfortable, spoon tub was wonderful along with the shower. Room did not feel like a hotel room because of the space. Hotel was very quiet. Great location. Attractions and restaurants are all walking distance. Like others have posted, there is no sign outside so it maybe a little hard to find but once you are close you will know you are there. I would recommend Loft 523 to anyone who is looking for a different stay while in New Orleans. My only complaint which is small are since the doors are so heavy, you will be able to hear when other guest leave their rooms.
"Great Room! Great location!"
02/04/14 Stacey S Sea Cliff, New York
Our room was wonderful. We loved the design of the room, it was so open and spacious. The bathroom was big with plenty of counter space. It was nice and quiet as well, though we visited in a slower time of year. The location was unbelievable. Walking distance to all the sights, and great restaurants close by.
"Sleek, minimal, and modern"
12/29/13 CaraKara Austin, Texas
Our one-night stay here was very pleasant, with all as it should be -- clean room, quick service at the desk, and relative quiet. As another reviewer noted, it did take a little doing to spy the street number, but it was easy once we saw the clear 520 address across the street. The name and number are cleverly spread out across the front of the building. Street parking is difficult here, but the hotel guest parking just up the street served well for unloading and leaving the car until the valet arrived. The lobby, bar, and lounge were nicely decorated in the same taste as the rooms. The guy who checked us in was quick, efficient, and personable. The big elevator is great for those who may be laden with lots of bags! The penthouse room was spacious, with ample area for the semi-separate sitting, working, and bed sections of the loft. The lighting from varied sources was moody but also adequate for real work if needed. Our room was situated away from the street, so we had zero street noise; however, the view was nothing to speak of. The bathroom was also large, with a grand tub and the double-headed shower noted on the website. The lack of door on the shower led to a wet floor, but a well-placed floor mat kept things mostly in check. There was plenty of space in the closet for a long stay. The bed was comfortable; I would have appreciated a warmer comforter, but one could raise the room temperature instead, I suppose. And the place had all the amenities I would expect, plus a pair of slippers to boot. We would happily stay here again!
