"Renaissance was nice"

We had to travel to Ft. Lauderdale for a Diving Competition. The hotels along A1A, close to the Aquatic Center, were charging astronomical prices. We opted to stay further away from the pool at this Renaissance Hotel, and we were very pleased. "Hotel Desk Clerk"
I paid in advance for 2 separate rooms for us and 2 traveling companions who we were cruising with the next day. When we arrived, the computers were down but the clerk acknowledged I had paid in advance and took the 4 of us to our floor. Our friends took the 1st room and then my husband tried his key and there were items in the closet which he told […] the clerk about. The clerk then proceeded to get another room key. He did this about 3 times until he found an empty room. Needless to say I was concerned someone would try to come in our room and we locked all securely. We were fine after that. I feel like you have to have some knowledge of what is available in a case where computers are down. This is poorly run in my opinion. You need a back up system of some sort or printed out daily the folks that are staying with you. We had dinner and the service was excellent and the food was equally so. Well I wasn't pleased as the hotel had no internet service due to a server issue that took them over a day to resolve. Also the TV had sporadic breakups during my one day stay. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past, I like the location. Last time I stayed I had some issues with my room but overlooked it. This time they oversold the hotel and gave me a special needs room, when I asked for a different room they basically said, sorry this is what we have, we will give you your money back and you can go to another […] hotel. "Felt Like A Thief"
All I wanted to do was buy a couple of Diet Pepsi's and ice from the 7th floor vending area. The pop machine was out of service and there was no ice. I get into the elevator to go to the 6th floor. I pick '6' and the elevator doesnt move. Finally I try swiping my room key and the elevator goes to 6. I get off and there are fridges full of Gatorade on […] both sides of the elevator. Odd. So I go to the vending area and the pop machine sign says "Out Of Service due to vandalism". So, to the 5th floor I go. Same elevator action, same displays of Gatorade. Now I'm thinking "Maybe the hotel is giving away free Gatorade because the pop machines are broken. Still, I go to the vending area and VOILA I am able to buy two Pepsi's! I walk around to the elevators and while I wait for one to show up, I look inside one of the Gatorade fridges to see if there are Pepsi's inside. Then this guy walks around the corner and starts yelling at me because I'm not supposed to be on that floor. Well, I explained my problem and all he does is keep yelling "You're not allowed on this floor." I told him I was trying to leave, but I had to wait for the elevator. So, anyway, while I'm sipping on my Pepsi, I think I figured out that the Miami Dolphins were staying in the hotel. Big friggin' deal! "Disappointing and shameful"
Room was supposed to be 2 queens but only had king and a cot. I was told they had a contract with a group so my "prepaid contract " through this service was second fiddle to the conference. We needed 4 towels and told the front desk. We came back to the room to 3 new towels and the other towels were gone. The next morning we asked for 4 towels again. […] Got back to the room and we had no towels. We decided to not have them service the room because we were not sure if we would have towels. We also had no hair conditioner after asking 2 times.
