Amazing Hotel. Deluxe rooms are large and very very clean, 2 tvs, desk, great view, and a fantastic bathroom with black marble everywhere. The concierge service was outstanding...made us reservations, arranged train tickets, etc.

Very comfortable to escape to after 40 degree temperatures outside. Buffet great if you like sushi and chocolate desserts. Slightly inconvenient in that it takes 10 minutes to walk to the metro, but proximity to Yu Garden is a bonus. The Bund area itself is a building site (July 2009) and quite disappointing.

during my three nights stay, i found the staff to be extremely helpful, with regards to recommending restaraunts and sights to see. they were always ready to answer any inquiry and to give suggestions about what to do and see. the quality of the room was excellent, and the decor very modern. the only issue i had was with the 120rmb surcharge for using the broadband connection per day. this was the only gripe i had with the hotel. the location was excellent, within walking distance of the amazing yu yuan gardens, the people's park, nanjing road and the bund including the bund sightseeing tunnel connecting to pudong. great stay, would definetly recommend to friends and others.

The Westin is a very well-appointed hotel with all conveniences expected of a luxury modern hotel and is well located about three blocks from the Bund and slightly further to the main shopping areas. On-site services in the hotel are expensive - for example $25 for an hour on internet (free in my previous hotel, the Shangri La) while a standard coffee was over $10 twice the Shangi La price and breakfast was $35 compared to around $20 in Shangi La. On the positive side the room was excellent (I got an upgrade, although this initially came with a price tage I refused to pay), the gym was excellent (and free) and the porters were both polite and helpful. Service was generally very good except on the first day at "The Stage" when it was incredibly slow and the Tap Sum and Steak sandwich were both poor although breakfast, while expensive was excellent.

No complaints about the hotel - the Bund has a large construction project underway (hey, it's Shanghai so no surprise) but that made getting out to the Bund a little hard, and the hotel staff did not tell us about this when we asked for directions. Still, we hit it at the right time, with a great holiday party where all guests were invited. Awesome buffet breakfast.

Very central location, only a few blocks from the waterfront. Hotel staff was very helpful. The room was a bit on the small side, and the much-advertised 'Heavenly Bed' didn't quite live up to the hype, but otherwise a great choice!

Shanghai is big and things are spread out more. The hotels is about half mile from any attraction. For those of you not accustomed to walking then I advise not to stay here. Taxis, however, are extremely cheap starting at just under $2 USD to anything close by. But pray that you are not stuck in rush hour traffic then a 10 minute ride turns into a half hour ride. Hence, you're better off walking. Great amenities at hotel from the main lounge, to concierge, to pool and gym. There is absolutely no need for any room upgrade. Their standard protocol is to offer you a junior suite upgrade for a fee. The basic room I stayed at was perfect. The cleaning ladies do an excellent job of arranging your room. Everyone is polite and almost everyone spoke english. Room alcohol is cheap. Basic room comes with a plasma TV, cable, office, couch, and king sized bed. Wireless internet is free but DSL cable is available for a fee. Very relaxing shower. I would book here again for a short business stay but not for a longer leisure stay. I think I will stay some place closer to Nanjing Pedestrian or Tibet Street. But nonetheless, the hotel was great in almost every way for the money.

A beautifully designed respite from the craziness of Shanghai, the Westin is located extremely close to most tourist destinations. Hotel staff was beyond helpful. Rooms were immaculate and contained everything one could possibly need. Hotel restaurants were far above average. Zero issues, zero complaints.

I stayed for 2 nights and it was the 1st time in Shanghai. The hotel was excellent in every respect. The staff were very helpful - sorted some rail tickets for me very efficiently at no extra cost. My room was superb, clean with everything I needed for business but equally for leisure. I used the pool a couple of times and had an excellent chinese meal in one of the restaurants. Beds were heavenly as you might expect. I would recommend this hotel which is in a very good location for everything in Shanghai.
