"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel in the theatre district. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic room accomodations but very clean. Would recommend.

Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. We loved the location of this hotel! The service was superior, and we liked the happy hour in the hotel bar. The room was small, but clean...we would stay here again!
"41 broadway"
The hotel was perfectly placed , the staff were great , the price was ok ! but it was the most rediculously small room , it really was a shoe box
it's very small, like a dorm room but clean and very close to the theaters and times square. Great if you just need a place to sleep. Beds are very small.
"Cozy!"
The location of the hotel was fine if you want to be close to Time Square. If not find another place. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only down side was the size of the room. Cozy! It was fine for the fact we were there to see the sights, not sit in our room all day. Small bed, but was fine to sleep in.
"A great hotel for any theater lover"
I recently stayed at Hotel 41 and I saw EIGHT Broadway and off-Broadway shows during my 4-day stay. It was sooo nice to be able to spend the day sightseeing, shopping, eating, and then be able to drop off my stuff in my room, freshen up, and then WALK right to the theaters, rather than worrying about getting on the subway or hailing a cab again. The […] only problems with this hotel were the bed (I kept rolling toward the middle of the bed because the mattress didn't have enough support to keep the bed firm. Also, one day I slept in til 11am and there was no hot water in the shower. I called the front desk and they told me to just leave the water running til it got hot. It took about 15 minutes. It never got hot, it just got lukewarm enough for me to jump in and out of it. Read more

"Hotel 41 Times Square - Great Location"
Great staff and nice clean room makes for a good place to sleep a block away from Times Square. The room was small but, overall, a good value.
"Hotel 41 - nicest staff ever!"
Hotel 41 has the nicest, friendliest staff. The room was really small, but clean and the location was great, so you really don't spend much time in the room. It was close to everything - Broadway, Times Square, Rockafeller Center. So many fun sites just walking distance away!
"Hotel 41 at Times Square"
Location, location, location. We got an upgrade on our room which was heaven as I was running the NYC Marathon, and the space allowed me to spread out my gear. Room very comfortable, great bathroom, space. And the staff were TERRIFIC!! Happy, helpful, supportive, friendly. This is the place to stay!!
"Hotel 41"
I never experienced such an uncomfortable bed! My husband had to sleep on the floor so we could get a decent's night sleep.
"very small"
The location was the only good thing about this hotel. I booked the "superior room" and I would hate to see what the "standard room" looked like. The room was very, very small, a brick wall was our view and we were right above the bar so it was very noisy. The breakfast that was included consisted of either a bagel or danish and coffee or juice. It […] was also very expensive. I will not be returning to this hotel. Read more
"Smaller than I ever imagined"
I chose to stay at Hotel 41 because I had an early morning meeting around the corner in Times Square. While the location was convenient to my meeting, the full experience left something to be desired. I got off the elevator and my room was directly across from the elevator door, which meant that I could hear the elevator "dinging" all night. I knew […] that the rooms would be small but I never anticipated them to be THAT small. (The rooms are basically the width of a full-size bed plus about 6" on either side. No nightstands, no bedside lamps, and you have to get on the bed from the foot.) As soon as I sat down on the mattress, I could feel (and hear) the springs. The bathroom was probably the nicest aspect but it was clear that the finishes were not high-quality--the shower head was a very basic one and made a whistling noise. (And I know that mine was not an isolated incident because I could hear my neighbor's shower from the hallway.) In terms of the complimentary breakfast, there were two carafes of coffee, a jug of orange juice, and a plate of danishes. There is an espresso machine for free lattes but unless you know how to use one of the machines, there is no one there to assist you. The hotel was clean and despite the sound of the elevators, fairly quiet. However, given the price I would not stay here again. It's not worth it to save a few bucks and be so cramped. I'll pay $50 more to go to a bigger place next time. Read more
This hotel is perfect if all you are looking for is a place to sleep and shower. The hotel is in a great location and the staff is really nice and accomadating. The room itself was very very small however it was clean and quiet (considering you are in New York). If you plan on being busy through the day I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

"Hotel 41 Times Square"
There are no security locks on the hotel doors; the rooms are extremely small; the tv only had 4 channels; the bar wasn't open; there is no restaurant; the continental breakfast had only coffee, juice, and some day-old rolls and bagels; the clerk at check in had no idea when asked about nearby restaurants. This hotel was WAY overpriced for its services. […] I will not be back. Read more
"Hotel 41 - convenient to all but *very* small room"
The hotel was very clean and centrally located. However, when they said the room was small, they really meant it. There was about 6 inches on either side of the double bed and the bathroom was tucked in a corner. The one and only window in the room had a view of the building next door which was literally 12 inches away - no sunlight available. Good […] for a two people staying one night, but that's really it. "Best Hotel for the Price"
One block from Times Square, walking distance to Empire State Bldg and many Broadway theaters, near Port Authority bus terminal and Greyline Bus embarkation point, taxis galore. Area is safe and hotel gives feeling of security. The staff is above average in all respects. Doormen double as bellmen. Servers for free continental breakfast are accommodating. […] Above all, the reception clerks are willing to help with any and all needs. Rooms are small, some widowless, but very clean and well maintained. Unless really in the mood to spend a lot for hotel, I would return again and again to Hotel 41 Read more
"all the comforts of home if your home was a closet"
I would recommend this hotel because the location was good and the people were very nice. The room was too small. To get on and off the bed we had to crawl over the foot of the bed. There was about 6 inches on either side between the bed and the wall. There was very little space for luggage, well really no space. Not great for sleeping. There were two […] chioces: hotter than heck or cold as ice with the loudest air conditioner ever. The window opened onto a brick wall. We should have requested a room change but didn't want to take the time. I may give it a try again but I would request a better room (assuming there are better rooms). Read more
"Small hotel room but clean and good location"
We were told the room was small before we even arrived so that was no surprise. But the location was excellent to times square and subway stations. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

"Hotel 41: very convenient to subway and theater"
Room was small but clean; bathroom had been redone in tile and marble flooring and was quite nice, actually. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I'd have no problem recommending this hotel to folks needing to stay in Manhattan at a convenient, reasonably priced location.
"great excellent"
Great from the moment we entered , staff excellent ,fast check-in , room clean and cozy, location the best . Free cuppacino, dvds. The best hotel for the money .
"Hotel 41, NYC - great location, clean"
Very small room, very clean bathroom; good complimentary breakfast; ease with parking garage and easy walking distance to Times Square. Highly recommended for a place to stay when visiting the city and expecting to be on the go!
"Great Hotel for the Price"
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel 41 for 3 nights. In general, we liked the hotel. The only "issue" with the hotel is that it's taken me over a year to finally book a room. The cleaning lady told me that the hotel only has 45 rooms and has many repeat customers. This is a small, clean hotel that's reasonably priced. Hotel 41 is in a fantastic location. PROS: 1. […] Location, location, location: In the heart of Times Square and walking distance to the Theatre District & Restaurant Row. 2. Nearby subway stations: Almost across the street from the hotel (7th Ave.), is the Subway station for the 1, 2, 3, N, Q, & R lines. At the far end of the block, across 8th Ave, is the Subway station for the A, B, & C Lines. WOW !!!!! 3. Free wireless that actually works well: It was fast and reliable. Ping time was often below 150 ms. At worse, 450 ms. Few lost packets. I was able to watch movies from the internet without a problem. 4. You get a mini-refrigerator. Handy for storing drinks/sodas from nearby grocers and leftovers from meals eaten at restaurants. 5. Clean. 6. The AC worked wonderfully. CONS: 1. Rooms are small, by American standards. If you're expecting the spacious rooms of hotels like "Howard Johnson", "Holiday Inn", etc., you will be disappointed. These rooms are like European hotel rooms. 2. If you're a light sleeper, you may be disturbed by the morning noise. Our room was facing 41st Street. Recommend to light sleepers to get rooms not facing the street. Read more
"Great location, adequate room"
Pros: We booked online based mostly on location and price and weren't sure what we'd end up with. The location was perfect for us, the border between the Fashion District and Times Square, so it was close to everything but not in the middle of the Times Square chaos. They've done some nice improvements to what is clearly an old property and the staff […] was always very helpful and friendly. I loved the Aveda products in the bathroom. And the complimentary internet service was a big plus, since both my husband and I travel with iPads and smart phones. Cons Our room had a window that overlooked a brick wall. It was amusing and certainly not a major issue, but I did sort of miss a view. The room was also very small, which wasn't an issue for us because we weren't in it much, but might be more important to someone else. The bed was rock hard and not a delight to sleep on, but it certainly wasn't the worst hotel mattress I've experienced. The TV was ancient and positioned on the very top of the bookshelf across from the bed. We never turned it on, but again, this might be more important to someone else. The continental breakfast was very.. continental. Bagels, pastries, juice and coffee. I don't eat grains, so this was sort of problematic for me, but might be just fine for someone else. The really annoying thing about the room was the air conditioner. It chirped like a car with a loose fanbelt and went thru cycles of lowgrade chirping and full scale soprano aria chirping. All night. It got to the point that it was difficult to sleep. I understand it's an old properties, but they definitely went to a good bit of trouble to put in significant cosmetic improvements. It's a shame they didn't invest more in the basics like the AC. Read more
"Hotel 41"
Even though the rooms are small, the price is good for such a touristy location and the amenities of continental breakfast, free coffee all day, DVDs you can borrow from desk, and happy hour (very inexpensive drinks) really add value. If you need to stay in the Times Square area (which is unavoidably crowded and noisy), this hotel is great.
"Hotel 41 - Close to the Shows"
Tried the Hotel 41 for the first time this past weekend and was Very pleasently surprised. Usually hotels with cheap rates have 1 or 2 problems you don't find out about until you get there. The hotel is a very short walk to most of the Broadway Shows (Spiderman, How to succede in Business, etc). The staff are all very friendly and cooperative, from […] the Doorman to the Bartender to thye Front Desk staff. They provided maps and directions to anywhere we wanted to go, including finding the nearest Street Flea Market. Will definately stay here again. Read more
Outstanding staff--friendly, helpful, courteous and seemed to genuinely appreciate the business.
"Hotel Review"
The customer service in your hotel and bar was excellent so very polite and very helpful and courtious. The location of the hotel was great so close to everything. However the room 504 needed a lot of attention the bed was very clean but the walls were dirty and it really made me uncomfortable and think as to wether l should stay there or not, I took […] a chance and did. The rooms need to be cleaned and updated, a coat of paint would make a difference. In fact the whole hotel needs to be upgraded. I would not reccomend anyone to stay for that reason. The hotel personnel were fantastic. Read more
"great night on the town"
our visit into town was made especially comfortable by hotel 41 and its nice staff
Close to lots of must see sights, however the rooms are very, very tiny.
"Great Hotel Overall"
Hotel 41 is right in the middle of Times Square, very nice if you like the noisy, crowded city life. The rooms are a bit too small, very clean, friendly staff, simple breakfast and a great place to stay for a couple nights overall.
"would stay again"
small but clean, sufficient, and close to everything.
"Location = Great...Size = Not so great"
Room was beyond small, but is in a great part of town. Bathroom was oddly nice, given the limitations of the rest of the room. The television was circa-1990 and wasn't in great working order. Otherwise, if you want to be in the heart of Times Square for a modest price...and size doesn't matter, this might be an option.
"Small but Comfortable"
Very friendly staff, close to Time Sq, small rooms (but who is spending time in the room)
"Very Accommodating Staff at Hotel 41"
I arrived not only prior to check-in time, but also prior to check-out time. I was hoping to get access to my room so I could change before a 2 pm show, and the front desk told me they would do what they could once the current occupant checked-out. They came through for me! On the downside, the pillows and bed were hard, and there were audible sounds […] (e.g. music, voices) from adjacent rooms. The free breakfast provided here is so-so. No fresh fruit or yogurt or cereals provided; only bagels and cream cheese, small pastries, orange juice, and coffee/tea. I chose this hotel because I was going to be in NYC just one night, and needed to be close to the theatre and to the Port Authority to catch the NYC Airporter, so in this respect the hotel did not disappoint. "Friendly, helpful staff and more."
OK, so the room was small. But its for sleeping in, not living in. Right on the edge of Times Square it was very easy to get around the city. I walked most places without worry. The hotel staff is excellent. I cannot say enough about their courtesy and help. From storing my bags (I arrived before check-in) to recommending a great restaurant (even looking […] up the address to be sure they were sending me in the right direction) the staff was wonderful. As a certified pest control operator from Florida, I was concerned about all the stories you hear of bed bugs. Well, the mattress in my room was encased in a sealed cover, the headboard was tightly affixed to the wall and I could see neither a place for bed bugs to hide, nor the little devils themselves. It was a clean room. The only minor thing that kept me from giving them a "5" for cleanliness was a stain on the bedspread. I would definitely not only recommend this hotel to others, but would stay there again. Read more

Rooms were very small but the hotel is extremely nice and right in the heart of Times Square
"Hotel 41 at TImes Square"
Talk about being right in the thick of things. This hotel was perfectly located to Times Square and all the surroundings has to offer. Small continental breakfast, however, it was perfect for a small snack before heading out […] to the big city. Read more
"Great Value, Great Location"
Hotel 41 was as advertised. Great location to Times Square, clean and surprisingly quiet for the area. Will absolutely stay there again. Great value. The concierge (AKA check in guy) was spot on on the restaurant recommendations. (We didn't want the chain touristy ones of Times Square.)
"Convenient and Comfy"
Hotel 41 is a very nice looking, small hotel located conveniently in the theater district. I've stayed here a couple of times and have enjoyed it very much. Staff is friendly, there is a lounge/dining area in the hotel and you can walk to all the things you want to do in Times Square. I will stay there again in the future.
"Great Hotel Location for the Sites on NY City."
The Hotel was very good. The rooms were very small, but there was lot's of towels and lot's of Hot Water. Remined me of the rooms you find in Europe. The location was the best we could have found. Walk out the door and your in Times Square. Great Location for the Theater District. The Staff was the best. They were very helpful and answered all our questions […] and any concern we might have. This was a great hotel for a great price. I needed a hotel for the night - I live in NYC but was subletting my apartment - and the hotel was amazing. "excellent location"
Yes, I would recommend this hotel with one caveat. The standard room was the size of a walk-in closet. Since we booked late, it was all that was available and for us worked just fine as we spent no time, except for sleeping, in the room. Location is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. "Hotel 41"

The cleanliness, staff, and location well worth overcoming the room size. Perfect for a couple that wants to be in the heart of Time Square and budget minded.
"Thanksgiving in NYC"
We recently stayed at Hotel 41 and couldn't be more pleased. The location is fantasic with a subway stop right across the street that will get you anywhere in Manhattan. The rooms are small but all hotel rooms are small. There is a refrigerator in the room as well which was an added convenience. The bathroom was small but modern. Our room was organized […] and cleaned daily. The front desk was very helpful. The convenience of a bar downstairs was also a nice way to start an evening out and to finish the evening.
