The staff was very nice and the map they gave detailing SF's different tourist locations was great. The parking spots were a bit small but did fit my car. The location of the hotel itself wasn't spectacular. Not in easy walking distance of anything nice so I would advise that you be prepared to use public transportation.

Booked a room with two queen beds - very happy with the size and cleanliness of the room. Fresh fruit and pastries in the morning. Neighborhood was quiet and nice - great restaurant within walking distant called Polker's, good dinner and great breakfast. Little produce family type market nearby plus a Walgreens. Walk to the bay wasn't bad. Overall I was happy with this hotel.

We spent Thanksgiving this year at Knob Hill and enjoyed it so much. Loved the location and walked everywhere from the hotel. The front desk people were exctremely friendly and helpful. Loved that the parking was free.

Yes this place is amazing. It's owned by a very nice and friendly couple that was extremely helpful. The location is perfect, just two blocks from the cable cars and the muni's. There are great little restaurants near by as well. The best thing about this hotel was that it offered FREE parking which is difficult to find in San Francisco. The free continental breakfast was another good thing. They had fruit and a couple of pastries, juice, hot chocolate and coffee. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the quality of this hotel. They have free parking right at the hotel, and the owners and front desk personnel were so friendly and helpful. The room was quite large, with a refrigerator and microwave. There was a lot of closet and shelf space. The location is ideal, because it is not too busy of a neighborhood, but only about a mile from Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown. The cable car line is only two blocks away. We felt very safe, yet far enough away from the noisy parts of the city. We have already recommended this hotel to some friends!

Nice place to stay just two blocks away from the cable car. The manager was very knowledgeable about sights and resturants of the San Fancisco area. The Nob Hill motor Inn was easy to get. The BART to Powell & Market. Then catch the Powell & Hyde cable car to Hyde & Pacfic. Walk two blocks west and you are there.

Before we checked in, they must have shampooed the carpets. By the time we did check in, which was close to 9pm, the carpet was still wet and we almost slipped when walking into the bathroom. We called the front desk to see if we could change rooms and the clerk wasn't helpful, so we had to stay in the room and walk around with our shoes on. It wasn't dry the following day either. That was the only disappointment in the place.

This room was so small, it was very uncomfortable to be in. I would have never stayed if I had known and when I went to the front desk to complain they were not very helpful to try and make it better. There continential breakfast was a joke. Way overpriced for the room they offered.It also is not 0.5 mile distants to the wharf, HORRIBLE. NEVER WILL I STAY OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

Stayed here and was one of the better places that i've stayed in SF. Managers were cool, nice bakery treats for breakfast, room was clean. Good stay.

We found the couple who run the hotel to be very nice and extremely helpful. They really bend over backward to make us welcome and help with our stay. They also let us leave our car in the lot after check out as long as they had extra space. This is no small issue in San Francisco because there is no parking! I would definitely stay here again.

I realized I could have stayed at many other better locations after I had arrived. The Indian man who runs the place was rude, had muffins and didn't offer me one, because I was an hour late for check-out at 12 pm instead of 11 (which he charged me $25 for). The bathroom is ok (they have a hairdryer and 2-in-one shampoo), the single room is very small, the cleaning lady was nice, but NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Looking around there were better places in the Marina and a Comfort in. Air bnb dot com is a much better option.

Super comfortable beds and bedding. Close to everything Nob Hill neighborhood has to offer. Free parking is wonderful in San Francisco, which is something most places do not have. Also free wifi. Stay here, price is great

My husband and I truly enjoyed our selves. The managers were fantastic and very caring.. I would rather stay there then in some fancy place with crappy service! The rooms are very clean. The parking is free and so is internet service!!! What more could you ask for. It's with in walking distance from all kinds of great places to eat and visit. We'll be back!

The staff was polite, the room was decent size and clean (minus one cockroach we found in the bathroom - not a big enough deal to not recommend), and it was a 2 minute walk to busses and restaurants. At the last minute we got a much cheaper rate which made it that much better. Will stay there again.

This hotel is OLD and crusty. Soft spots in floors that seem like they will collapse or give way. Walls are paper thin to the point that if your neighbor farts you'll hear it. Parking is limited and tight. For the price of this hotel you could easily stay at Kabuki, The Fairmont on Nob Hill, or the Sheraton at Fisherman's wharf. I had to take this one because the others were booked. This hotel was comparable to Motel 6, so if your going to SF book early or prepare for this type of hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Nob Hill Motor Inn in a Superior Two Queen room (we were upgraded from a Standard Double as there were none left upon arrival). The location of this hotel is fantastic, with lots of nice restaurants and shops within a short walk. Fisherman's Wharf/Alcatraz tour departures and Chinatown are a slightly longer walk away and Golden Gate Bridge and Park are a short bus ride away. The area around the hotel seemed safe and pleasant. The hotel has free parking which was a huge bonus as parking around San Francisco looked a little tricky and expensive. The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and happy to help with any questions. The room itself was large and clean, however the decor was a little dated but this wasn't really a problem as we spent most of our time out of the room seeing the city. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a reasonably priced hotel that's in a great, central location.

First day when I moved in room 109, this room was next to linen room and low frequency noise was heard when I slept. The noise was engine noise that I cound not sleep all the night. I told the staff immediately about the poor situation. The staff said that he could not help and agreed to change another room for me on next day. On next day, the staff changed another room (room 225)for me. But unfortunately, this door of the toilet could not be closed. Also, the micro wave oven and the refrigerator were inside the toilet that I had never seen them in another hotels before. Furthermore, the location of the hotel was far away from fisherman wharf and I needed 30 minutes to walk from the inn to the fisherman wharf.

Great room, cleaner than some 5 star hotels I've stayed at and the customer service was outstanding.

The owners were very helpful. Lots of things were within walking distance. The trolley car was just a couple blocks walk away and the entire trip could have been done from our hotel base. I will stay here again.

The hotel was a bout a mile from Fisherman's Wharf and it was a good walk depending ont he route we took. the hotel was accomcodating with our 15 passenger van which we appreciated. the rooms were of good size and very clean and the surrounding neighborhood was very good. There was good eating on Polk St just a block or two away and also drug stores for anything you personal things you may have forgotten. At least 3 coffee shops right around the corner on Polk as well. Overall, very satisfied with this hotel. Many times better than the last one we stayed in a year ago.

There were no pastries or anything for breakfast like we were told. We requested more towels and never received them. Staff was terribly rude. This was not what we expected at all.

The Jr. Suite is plenty big for a family of 5. Nice soft beds. Free Parking is a huge plus! Very easy to get to public transportation from this central location. We enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I were very very pleased with our experience at Nob Hill Motor Inn. The Nob Hill husband and wife owner/managers were incredibly helpful and generous, The rooms were large, stocked with small refrigerator and microwave and beds were comfortable. We were able to obtain a roll-away bed for an unexpected guest at the spur of the moment later at night without problem. For visitors contending with cars, Nob Hill was a godsend; parking is available free of charge. We will certainly return to Nob Hill Motor Inn on our next extended trip to SF. For the money, can't be beat!

Very helpful and cooperative staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Free parking was unusual in this part of San Francisco.

The hotel provided free parking which was a major plus. The room was a standard size and was clean as expected. The wireless internet didn't work, it wasn't pulling an IP address when connected. Called the office they dismissed this saying that nobody else was calling in about it. Spoke to others the next morning who were having the same problem. This hotel was perfect except for the internet not working.

From friendly helpful managers to the convenience of free parking, we were delighted with the Nob Hill Motor Inn. The double queen room was lovely, the continental breakfast nice, and the location next to Polk Street great! And the price was right!

The hotel delivers at the right price. The family running the hotel is doing a good job focussing on the right things. The price is right and the rooms are clean. There is free parking. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful planning our days. The hotel is located well with lots of public travel access close by.

I was suspicious of the hotel when I booked it, but after reading all the good reviews I booked it because of the size of the room we got. We stayed in the family suite which was ideal when traveling with kids. I read the reviews and knew the hotel would be dated, but it needs improvement badly. Let me start off with the good: hotel room was spacious free parking, but they have limited spots so you have to get your spots early close to major bus lines The bad: There was an eaten apple on our bed when we checked in the mattresses haven't been replaced in years. It was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in ever. The hotel says it is only 1/8 mile to Lombard St, and 1/4 mile to fisherman's wharf. That is not true. It is over 1/2 mile to Lombard and over a 1 mile to the wharf. Just be aware that you are not as close to things as they advertise. Their breakfast is a joke. The donuts were several days old. All and all, it is a bus ride to any major attraction with terrible breakfast and very dated rooms. If you get a killer deal on your room rate it might be worth a stay, but we paid too much for our room based on what we received.

We chose the Nob Hill Motel on the basis of other reviews that commended it for its conveninet location and good value. We found this assessment to be accurate. The motel exceeded expectations for a supposed "2 star" hotel. It is well maintained, the location felt safe, and the rooms are comfortable. Parking is free and convenient. We were able to walk to Fisherman's Wharf and other sites (please note that it is a moderate walk) plus cable car and other transportation was nearby. We ate at restaurants within 1-2 blocks. The desk staff/managers were very helpful and friendly.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We were not expecting what we got. The room was a lot nicer than some more expensive hotels that I have stayed in. Clean, comfortable, even the towels smelled good. What was really nice was the fact that I could park my car and not have to worry about finding a place on those crazy streets. A perk was that the hotel is not that far away from the street trolly stop, so we got a 3 day pass that allowed us to ride any of the mass transit to go to all of the places we wanted. (That is something that I recommend to do, $18 for 3 days of rides where as 1 ride on the trolly is $5. The passes are sold at the holiday inn gift shop)

We had an early AM appointment at UCSF Medical facility and the hotel was convient, and the FREE parking was a real plus. The desk clerks were friendly and helpful, the bathroom was clean, the room rate was very reasonable for our accomudations, so pleased with our overall 1-night stay.

Friendly owners, good location, and free parking make this motel a great buy. We stayed in the cheapest room which was VERY small, but there are different size rooms available.
