Construction was a bit of a pain but overall a 4.6 rating is acurate. Was a nice hotel was a large room beds were comfortable and staff was great check in time is at 3:00 they were kind enough to let us check in at 11:30.Genuine Expedia guest review
I really like it, they are friendly and if you need a late check out, they will work with you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"My first review - Absolutely remarkable."
The photographs were appealing, but historically with hotels, especially on the cheaper end, I've been fooled. They usually end up being smaller, the sheets end up being cheaper etc. This hotel blew me away. 4.something rating they have on Expedia is well deserved, if not a little low. 1. Staff - The hotel staff was extraordinarily well trained. Every […] time I walked into the lobby, they stopped whatever they were doing and greeted me warmly. I have been made to feel less welcome at much larger, more expensive hotels. They were as helpful as they possibly could be, as well. 2. Facilities - To be honest, I didn't often leave the hotel room, but the lobby and breakfast room were always clean and in good condition. There were even free cookies in the lobby every day. 3. Room Cleanliness / Comfort - The room was in perfect condition. Everything was comfortable. I had a great night's sleep, which was the most shocking. The hotel is relatively close to the highway, so I expected to hear cars and honking all night. I didn't hear a thing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nicer than expected"
Hotel was very beautifully decorated. Staff was friendly and attentive. Jacuzzi was nice and warm and clean. Breakfast was delicious and more than bagels. Eggs, sausage, french toast, pancakes and choice of juices. Comfy beds and great location right off the 405 and across the street from Spaghettini where we attended a live performance of Jay Gore […] Band. I would recommend this hotel to others and stay there again. Very nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice experience."
Clean, well-maintained facility. Feels like a high-end luxury property. Free breakfast is high quality--not the typical continental breakfast you get most places. This had eggs, omelets made to order, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, fruit, pastries, cereal, etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel, great service."
The service was excellent. We really needed a late checkout, and they were very accommodating. The AC/heater in the room was very loud. Kept us from getting a good night's sleep. The beds were comfortable; however, that AC/heater was just too much.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy on and off the freeway"
Great location for traveling all around the beach area. Even though our room was steps from the freeway, we couldn't hear it at all. Beautiful hotel and rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Thank you for the nice beds, firm enough and the big roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We've stayed at this hotel 5 or 6 times when visiting family. Convenient, right off the 405. Staff is always pleasant, the rooms are clean, large, and quiet even when facing the freeway. Full breakfast is included; we recommend eating on the patio if weather permits. There's no bar/lounge for a glass of wine, but Spaghettini's Grill and Jazz Club is […] just across the Blvd. We heard some amazing jazz there last Saturday night. Best of all, the hotel feels family-owned; not the same impersonal corporate feel of the huge chains. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Romantic Weekend gone bad"
The room did not have a fireplace as advertised, in order to get a fireplace we had to pay additional. The logs for the fireplace was like a pile of toxic wood and it did not even burn for an hour as promised, no use in complaining about that, the rooms need renovating, the upside this hotel is down the street from a very tranquil beach and the morning […] breakfast seemed to over a wide range of breakfast foods. I will return prob because of the location. I wish their were more hotels in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful First Experience with Ayers"
We really enjoyed our stay at Ayers, our first experience with this hotel chain of Southern Calif. We usually stay at Hampton Inns & Embassy Suites, but found this hotel online at a discounted stay price, so we decided to try it out. The beds were very comfortable, which is very important to us - we both have pain issues. We would have preferred a king […] bed, but only queens were available, so this is what we had for four days/nights. The breakfast options were great - better than those at Hampton Inn hotels & almost as good as what we get at the Embassy Suite hotels. The location was extremely convenient for visiting our family & shopping, so we will most likely stay again. The only deterrent could be the cost if we can't get the same type of deal (the usual cost is quite a bit higher). The staff were wonderful & very accommodating! The shower experience was pretty good - enough water pressure & hot water & the linens were comfortable. We appreciated the opportunity to reuse our linens & help with our environment. Unfortunately, we didn't get to experience the happy hour offerings - always had family obligations during this time frame. Maybe they could start happy hour a little earlier? Overall, a great experience & we will most likely come back!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Visiting Family in Seal Beach"
I have family that lives in Seal Beach so this was the perfect base for visiting. Also close to Disney and right off the 405 so very convenient to everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"first visit to a Ayres Hotel"
Only one problem - asked for a cab to catch an early flight. I was asked if Mark was OK. I said "yes" thinking it was the name of the favorite driver of the local cab company - wrong. Mark did not show. Slight panic - 30 minutes later Yellow cab was then called. Mark is a driver/Ayersl worker who takes people to the airport as a side job. Fortunately […] I made my flight. Definately will stay at a Ayers Hotel in the future and ask that a real cab company is called. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very nice hotel but not close to the beach"
Very charming hotel, european style, parking and wifi free. A free "aperitive" buffet is offer at 6PM. Free breakfast. Laundry.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location was all that was good"
not very good - nothing worked - no ice available - refer did not work - carpet was dirty - no check in parking - no responsive clerks.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable accomodations near the beach"
Our family enjoyed our stay at the Ayres. Clean and well maintained near the ocean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great stay, lots of amenities"
The hotel was well-priced, staff was quite friendly and helpful, breakfast and wifi included, which was a plus. Only thing that detracts is the location right next to the freeway, but luckily, I was buffered from the noise by getting a room facing away from the freeway. I would absolutely stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
I really liked this hotel! It is a luxury hotel at a reasonable price. I was concerned when I saw how close it was to the freeway but it really wasn't an issue even though there was work going on on the freeway. The only real issue is the sound from the plumbing especially at night when its quite and someone is using the shower but apart fron that I […] would definitely stay here again! "Close to the Freeway"
My wife and I stayed for the weekend at the Ayres in Seal Beach to celebrate our anniversary. As we exited the 405 freeway, the hotel was literally right there, which makes it very easy to get to. The hotel has a Victorian / Colonial feel inside. My wife and I joked about how if there was a thunder storm and the power went out - it would be like a murder […] mystery movie! It didn't... so I was happy about that. The room itself was very comfortable and spacious, and the continental breakfast was good as well (all the basics: scrambled eggs, french toast, sausage, bagels, etc.). Because it is right off the freeway, there is no 'view' from any side of anything real spectacular - BUT it is surprisingly quiet. If you're wanting to be in walking distance of the beach, I don't recommend this particular location; however, it's only a 10 minute drive away. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful value for the price"
This hotel is worth the bit of extra effort to reach it during freeway construction - and in SoCal, that's almost always. Although I came in after midnight, the staff was very nice. Because the hotel was full, I was put in a first floor room, near the exit. Normally I might be a little uncomfortable on the ground floor, but the room was very nice, clean, […] and quiet. The rate was very reasonable for the quality of the hotel. I enjoyed the cozy breakfast room, and the better-than-average breakfast buffet. Definitely a place I would revisit..and I'll look for Ayres in other areas as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overnight for Wedding"
Just average ... No room service....highway construction caused a 7 mile detour...can hear all the plumbing from above room.. Did not recognize Expedia VIP Program nor honor any benefits. Will probably not ever stay with this chain again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Came to hotel and went to eat dinner later that pm. Two longtime high school friends attending a reunion........Jumped into bed and slept good the whole night....Next day upon arise........discovered my friends bed sheets had not been changed from previous guest..........very VERY discusted...soiled and bloody.........will not go back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The hotel was above my expectations.........."
The Hotel was close to shopping, the beach and restaurants....The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the staff was great. The atmosphere was charming, I will go back there in the future and recommend it to family and friends. There was 4 of us in a room and it was not crowded or uncomfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was a very nice hotel, very clean with great service. The only down side was the AC seemed to be set remotely so no matter what we set it at it would not drop below 74.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfortable and clean hotel"
The room/hotel itself were immaculant. The breakfast in the morning was ok. Located about 20 minutes from the beach. The surrounding area was very congested due to the freeway and the massive construction going on. It was a royal pain sitting in traffic to get to the hotel. Other then that, I'd recommend staying here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It is always a pleasure to stay at the Ayers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great breakfast and very confortable beds"
We stayed for five days and were very comfortable in the beds and enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning. The staff was kind, but the rooms didn't get cleaned until after 4:00pm each day. The bathtub was small and the room was cramped and a little hard to get around. The decorations, especially in the halls looked a lot like Disney's Haunted Mansion.... […] A little odd for Southern California. The location was convenient but for the price, we had to put up with a view of the 405 freeway under construction, which by the way caused a lot of traffic as well. The hotel was ok... But I don't think we would recommend or stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Will stay again if in the area, very satisfied. This was my second visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was very polite and attentive. All of our concerns were addressed when we checked in. It worked out so that our car was just a few steps away from our room. Well, it just seemed that way because of an easy to navigate parking lot and a nearly immediate accessibility from the freeway! It was a very clean, comfortable and convenient stay. A […] very "comfy" hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was great but..."
The hotel is fabulous for me because it is right off the 405 with easy access to both on ramps. However, there was a LOT of construction going on during the time of my visit so the ease of the freeway left something to be desired. Nothing that would keep me from staying again, just an inconvenience during this particular stay. This hotel was great, […] loved my room, it was very spacious and comfortable. Only drawback was - housekeeping showed up at 5:45 PM to clean my room - after I had already worked the entire day and looked forward to coming back to the quiet room to relax, I was changing my clothes and in walks the housekeeper!! When I asked the front desk why this may have happened, they stated housekeeping cleans rooms up until 6:00 pm. Something to know if you are planning a stay here. "Great hotel for the price"
We stayed at the Ayers over 4th of July weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the price and the over all quality of the hotel. This was my girlfriend and I first trip together and the hotel has an unexpected romantic vibe, a wedding party was even running around, definitely set a nice mood. The one problem is the lack of room device, that was kind […] of a drag. Overall tho, great experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Ayres was a great hotel. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Great location. The interior and patio area reminds me of Historical Savannah Georgia, beautiful and peaceful. An oasis in such a busy part of California. "Surprisingly nice stay"
I will counter my thoughts that most people only post bad reviews: I never expected to find a hotel right along the 405 in Seal Beach to be so nice, but after staying at a Hyatt and a Sheraton for the rest of our trip, I found this hotel to be far more enjoyable. The room was clean and quiet, the hallways were clean, the hot tub was hot, some of the […] free breakfast was prepared fresh on a griddle - not out of the microwave in the back room. It wasn't beat up, and it didn't really seem like the "veneer would wash off" after a few days. It was just well tended. (It may be a new hotel I don't know.) The one staff member I dealt with was very friendly and made a point of putting in a room far away from everyone else, after I told him of our previous noisy "high-end" hotels. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the breakfast room was too small and that there isn't really much of a reason for a leisure traveller to be staying in Seal Beach (it was halfway between Universal City and John Wayne for us.)
