Our first trip to Paris and we're looking at hotels by friends recommendations but their suggestions were booked so started searching near by hotels and found the Villas des Artistes. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and we had no issues in navigating the area... even after one tour left us a short walk to our hotel at after 1 am! Close to […] lots of great places to eat/drink and shopping. Short walk to Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame and lots of the must see tourist locations. Room was clean and well appointed. The hotel was wonderful. Michael, at the desk was particularly accommodating and nice. My son needed a doctor on a Saturday and the hotel arranged for an in-room doctor visit, which was not too expensive. The doctor arrived exactly in the time frame promised, prescribed medication which we got filled around the corner, and he was immediately better. […] I loved our room, comfortable and chic at the same time. The neighborhood is quiet. The breakfast was wonderful, hot eggs as well as the traditional French croissant, jam, tea, fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc. The only misleading thing was that they are not located in Saint Germain proper, but rather closer to the area known as Montparnasse, but I actually ended up loving our neighborhood, which is still close and convenient to all the major attractions. Great location, helpful staff. Very nice people at the reception. Lots of good cafes and restaurants nearby. 20 min walk to the great mall. Arty room with queen bed actually has two short double beds pushed together. Cons: Clogged sink. Room was not cleaned well. Trash was left in our room, cleaning staff forgot to bring towels and tissue. No place […] to buy water at the hotel and no convenient stores nearby. We arrived at the Best Western after our 2.5 hour train ride from London via the Eurostar. Everyone was very nice and spoke English fairly well. Our room was average size, but I would not say too small like a lot of other reviewers. The bathroom was nice but you have to get used to no shower curtain or door, just a half glass wall so when you take a […] shower, a lot of water lands on the tile floor. Another thing to note, this is an older building and we could hear every step the people in the room above us took and since we are light sleepers, that was annoying. The hotel is in a descent location, close to Vavin subway stop, although after exploring the city, I think there are better locations for the same amount. The big problem we had was our flight went out from Charles De Gaulle airport at 7:50 am. I asked the person at the front desk how much time we should allow to get to the airport if we are taking the RER (express train) versus taking a cab, he said no more than 30 minutes on a Saturday morning in the RER. So to be safe, we left at 6:00 am and didn’t arrive at the airport until 7:10 am, with just 40 minutes to get checked in, get our boarding passes and get through security. Running through the airport, we made it with 10 minutes to spare, but were very nervous to say the least. Read more

The photos of the rooms are deceiving. They should differentiate the room types at booking and post more accurate photos of the rooms you're actually booking. I did extensive research into many hotels and chose BW over the others thinking it was a tad nicer, but again, the photos were deceiving; and we paid more for a mediocre room. Problems with […] the hotel include: 1) the heat in the room was very low or not working, but they provided a space heater, but I've never been to a hotel that would have this issue, 2) the holder for the shower nozzle did not work and so we had to hold it ourselves, 3) water leaked from the vent in the bathroom, I'm not sure if it was from the room above or a leakage, but thankfully, it drained into the tub. They did have nicer rooms according to the photos, but you might have to upgrade, but then again, there was no differentiation in room types, so what we got was not what we paid for. Read more

The hotel is decorated in a modern mode and the rooms are very clean and smartly decorated as are the the bathrooms. I cannot complain about anything except the morning desk staff person (she may know who she is) that was utterly cold and nearly rolled her eyes when I asked her for help with my map directions on my way out to various Paris sites. We really enjoyed the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, which set our anxieties at ease about the Parisiens. The location was great, and close to the metro, so it was easy to get around Paris. The room was decent and clean and quiet.

The bedrooms are small but the hotel kept the Parisian atmosphere which was very nice. In the end we got used to the smaller sizes of the bedroom and the breakfast room. The hotel is located on a quiet street and in front of a very nice bistrot and boulangeries which was very convenient for us.I would definetely stay at this hotel again.

the hotel was half a block from the busy Blvd Montparnasse and Raspail with a lot of great restaurants but also in a quiet neighborhood half a block in the other direction with small cafes and bistrots. Also, two to three block from the Luxembourg gardens where you can spend hours people watching or sketching (as we did) and then out the Blvd Mich exit […] and a pleasant walk down to the Seine, the Cluny, Shakespeae and the Trois Maillets with its great entertainment. The entire staff at the hotel was extremely helpful at all times and multilingual especially Ludivine who gave us excellent advice and directions. The rooms are small, sure but the hotel is quiet and close to Metro Line (4). It's also walking distance to many excellent Breton and North African restaurants, and to the Parc du Luxembourg via one of the rear gates. The breakfast wasn't much for the 16 euros they charge, so I would skip this and grab a bite at a cafe in the neighborhood.

I would give 4 stars to this hotel if I would be single or just staying with my wife. The hotel location is great, next to a metro station, lots of nice restaurants, cafes, groceries stores. Close to Luxemburg Gardens. And if you are willing to walk thirty minutes, you can go to the Army museum, and from there five more minutes to the Seine River. The […] bad thing comes only if you have a baby on a stroller, the elevator is sloooow and small, the corridors are not too wide so it is very difficult to walk with the stroller once you are in the hotel. And if you stay a Saturday night you can expect a lot of music and noise that could keep your baby awake. But overall, a nice hotel. Read more

My 14 yr. old son and I wanted to spend two nights in Paris to see the Eiffel tower and visit a friend. The Villa des Artistes was a great little hotel with a modern bathroom with a lovely tub, calming decor, comfortable beds, quiet, and a classic Parisian roof top view out of the window (4th floor). I could lean out on the balcony and feel I was in […] a movie about Paris, watching the people walking up and down the little street. Very classic Parisian. Lots of restaurants around, very safe, close to the loop of the tourist double decker buses, the metro and the Velib bike rentals. The most amazing thing was the service. My son emptied the safe of all his electronics and I assumed he took out everything. Being 14, he only took his items. We ended up leaving a travel wallet with about seven hundred dollars in the open safe! Later in the day, traveling to Amsterdam on the bullet train, we realized the money had been left. I emailed the hotel from the train, asking if they had found the money, thinking we would never see it again. Miraculously, they had it and Corinne, the manager, was able to use Western Union to return it to me. She replied immediately to my first email and was so helpful, establishing when we would be back in the states and finding the Western Union offices, etc. She had to go to the bank to convert the dollars to euros in order to send them to us (to be converted again into dollars!). The hotel's location CANNOT be BEAT! the Staff is friendly and the hotel is in great shape. The only warning is that if you are staying for more than 1 or 2 nights (we were there for 7) book the larger room. The room we were in was ok but not equiped for that long a stay.

I loved the location of the hotel because it was in a nice quiet neighbourhood with loads of good restaurants in the area. Close to public transport as well. I like the fact you get out of the usual hectic tourist areas so it suits my tastes. You can't go wrong with this hotel. Staff nice and friendly. Rooms spotless.

The hotel was standard Paris level of comfort - good bed and not much else of comfort in the room. The best I can say it was centrally located in a nice portion of Paris. The worst was the shower was almost unusable and when water leaked from the bathroom above the last night of my stay. The Villa des Artistes is a nice place to stay, but it doesn't have a lot of amenities. The wifi was almost nonexistent. My husband and I were very disappointed in the service we received at this hotel! The air conditioning was broken for 2 days in our room. We were told by the desk manager to just open our windows. We were given just one wi-fi code for our room that was only allowed by one computer. My husband and I each had our lap tops with us for our respective businesses, […] yet I could not use mine! We stayed twice this trip (4 nights inbound to Europe and 1 night outbound) in one of the "Artsy Rooms" which feature trendy decor. They have been nicely updated with modern amenities in both bed and bath rooms. Like most renovated Paris hotels, the rooms are quite small but functional and this one is more so than most with thoughtful touches in the […] design of wardrobes flanking the queen bed with integral nightstands, reading lamps, and remote control light switches. The closest metro stop is Vavin on Line 4 but one stop or four blocks walk away is the Montparnasse Bienvenue station which adds access to Lines 6, 12, and 13. The hotel is also close to the Port Royal station for RER B which provides access to both Orly and CDG airports. With a nice breakfast area and a small lobby bar, this hotel is hard to beat for quiet street in the Montparnasse area. We plan to return on our next visit to Paris. Read more
