Convenient as an apart hotel with a nice gym, but the neighborhood is not very nice (China Town). 15 min-walk to St. Paul Street, where you can find nice restaurants.

Nice suite close to Palais de Congres, Chinatown, old town Montreal. Clean, comfortable bed, handy kitchen/living room, wi-fi access...everything I needed!

The bathroom lock didn't work - I had no time to report it.

My stay at Candlewood Suites was excellent. I was up there for a wedding and didn't want to stay at the "wedding hotel", for a variety of reasons, and was happy to find this hotel (price being a major one). Having a kitchen was wonderful. The location is great, the proximity to Chinatown, a grocery store, and the underground made my stay so much easier. […] I highly recommend this hotel. Good rate and location, close to Chinatown and Old Port...good restaurants and sights by river...nice, small kitchen with fridge, stove, and microwave.

The hotel is conveniently located near many, many different areas and transportation, so it's very easy to recommend on that basis, my only negative was in the physical upkeep of my suite, specifically the bathroom, which appeared to have an untrained monkey making repairs to the sink, shower, etc. Overall a terrific experience with a very nice staff, […] a nicely stocked little store in the lobby (for snacks, sodas, etc.) and wonderfully located. The hotel room was nice, comfortable and convenient. Parking can occasionally be a little problematic because of too few spaces in their garage. Only issue was needing three requests to get a problem with a carpet tack resolved. Would come back.

Listen to the other reviews...this hotel is not worth your money even though it is a good price! I reserved this hotel specifically for the kitchen, high speed internet and DVD player and NONE of those worked. I called the front desk and maintenance didn't come until the NEXT morning even though I kept calling. Then the second day I was there the TV […] stopped working so I called the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. He was in a meeting and the receptionist told me he would call me in my room when he was out but NEVER did, when I talked to them at check out they said they couldn't do anything about it. Our lab group was in Montreal for a conference and chose the suite over the conference hotel for both expense and space. The suite was exactly as presented on the website and allowed four of us to stay comfortably for a week (including free laundry). The suite had all necessary kitchen appliances and utensils that allowed us to save a bunch of money […] on meals (we are grad students, after all). Its one of the most affordable hotels in Montreal. It has everything: Big rooms, clean rooms. I recomment it for everyone..

The hotel was a described on hotels.com. Our room felt like a small piece of home, the kitchen was full equipped, we only needed to bring food. The hotel supplied everything else we needed, right down to the dish-washing liquid! The beds were very comfortable and out room was quiet and peaceful. The only detraction was, an obstructed view of Mount Royal […] and the room was facing the courtyard so we could see into hotel rooms opposite us. My husband and I along with another couple recently stayed at this hotel, and we were quite impressed! The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We arrived during a snow storm and were quite pleased with the ease of check in and the room itself. We got a two queen bed suite, which was very spacious and equipped with a FULL kitchen. […] The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could possible need, including a dishwasher! We wish we had more time to spend here, it felt like home, and was a very enjoyable stay. Reasonably priced too. The location was great for us as well, a pleasant walk to Old Montreal and the Quays (our main destination), and a block down from Ste. Catherine. The bed had a very bad smell. The carpet seemed wet or damp. A painting fell off the wall and landed on the bed. No safe in the room.

I think this hotel is a good choice if you're looking for something convenient and functional. My only real complaint was, I had to sign a form upon check-in stating that I understood the no-smoking policy; however, I woke up at 5:30 a.m. smelling the smoke of one of my neighbors (through one of the vents). Let me start by saying I am not a fussy traveler. I just want a clean, quiet, basic accomodation that is as advertised. The previous time I stayed in Montreal, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which shares the building with the Candlewood Suites (they are also part of the same owning franchise). I loved it. The Holiday Inn suite was a suite. Living […] room, bedroom, kitchen with counter seating and a terrace! There was daily maid service and valet parking in the lobby. The front desk had 2 people all the time. The Candlewood was one fairly small room with a tiny kitchen area. To access parking, one must go next door to the HIE. There was one person manning the desk at all times. I knew there was no daily cleaning, which I was fine with, but mention for comparison. Besides being disappointed by my suite being a room, there were a number of issues. I was met with a door that got stuck and had to be pushed with full force to get open. Right in front of that door was a closet door that was open. I actually could not get in. I had to put down my bags, reach in and close the closet before I forced open the door the rest of the way. Turns out that closet door was busted and did not stay open. I had to fashion a temporary fix myself. Next there was a loud beeping. Turns out the microwave was broken. I tried unplugging and replugging it in, but none of the buttons worked and it kept beeping. I asked the front desk to fix it. Someone promptly came up and took it. Despite my inquiring about it everyday, I never saw a microwave oven again for the trip. All of the electrics needed repair. The A/C was loud. The fan in the bathroom made an awful racket. The refrigerator hummed loudly. The lights and A/C etc, were all plugged in haphazardly. Electrical cables crisscrossed the floor. No outlets for recharging my things. Had to remove a light cord. For a weeklong family vacation in Montreal, this hotel was just what we needed. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The wide screen tv made our daughter happy. Our full kitchen allowed us to cook real meals. We could actually open our windows! The free laundry was a plus. And the location was ideal: walking distance from the big grocery store, […] a huge indoor mall, the subway stop, as well as close to Chinatown, the Old City and on a well-lit major street. It wasn't a quaint or romantic location, but wasn't unsafe either. If you are driving in from the US, the location is quite convenient as well. Here are the downsides: housekeeping is only once a week (which actually worked out fine for us); there is no pool; there is no restaurant or room service; the lobby is small and bare; with the windows open the room was pretty noisy with all sorts of street noises from garbage trucks to young people returning after their evenings, and when we were there the NASCAR races were on and the sound of the cars on the track was incredibly loud (but kind of cool at the same time); the gym facilities are nice but very limited; and your primary parking alternative is valet, which for some can seem pricey. We were able to get a fairly competitive price; it is worth shopping around as I think there was wide variation in what people were paying for similar rooms. Read more

The hotel is located close to Montreal's chinatown, and has a couple of metro stations within ten minutes walk. Rooms are very spacious, clean and has all that you would need for a stay away from home. A few things were key for me; cleaniness, safety, convenience - I had all of them. There was even internet access (free) in rooms, which was great. […] The suites come with kitchen facilities; microwave, fridge, oven, stove, dishwasher, toaster, with forks and knife, plates, bowls, cups, etc... you just need to get the food! There is a big store nearby to pick up almost everything that you need. There is no room service, your bed will not be made and no change of towels daily. I recently spent a week at the Candlewood Suites while enjoying a vacation in Montreal, and have mostly good things to say about the property. First, the staff was extremely polite and helpful in terms of helping us get settled in and to our rooms. They helped us navigate the city when needed, and promptly called a taxi when it was time to check out. […] It may be a small thing, but it makes all the difference in the world to be treated well and greeted with a smile. The room we had was a suite with two queen beds. There was plenty of room, as well as a large bathroom (great shower pressure--this is a major consideration!), and a nice kitchen with a fridge, range, stove, and sink. We saved a decent amount of money during the trip by shopping at the IGA down the block and making our own meals. The room was clean and comfortable and the beds were quite nice. The location of this hotel is just about perfect--5 minutes to Chinatown, 15 minutes to Old Town, and 20 minutes to Downtown. Safe area on a major street, easily accessible. Now, for a couple of the downsides. First, our thermostat appeared to be broken, in that it ran continuously. Great if you love being frozen, but not so great for the rest of us. It wasn't unbearable, but we definitely needed to cover up at night, even though it was June. Also, the in-room internet was extremely spotty. Now I didn't go all the way to Montreal just to surf the net, but it's nice to be able to check your e-mail, Facebook, and a few websites after a long day of sightseeing. This was often hit or miss, ranging from slow to unusable. Probably more of an issue for business travelers. The internet connection in the business center wasn't any better, sadly, but at least there was wi-fi in there. Overall, I have few complaints, and nothing major really. I would recommend the Candlewood Suites to someone staying in Montreal, although I would also say there there are improvements that can be made at the same time. Read more

First of all, they well come my small dog which it means a lot, extremely friendly and polite employees, at the heart of the town, for the prize , you can not go wrong, the only think ,I did not appreciate, smoking floor(I am not smoker) I had to stay ,as there was no more room available, but the smell of sheets, although they were clean, was badddddddd, […] and the could use some freshener or something to eliminate the smell. Good quality-price with great confort

The room was nice, however, after I flushed the toilet, it dripped in the back of the tank for over an hour. Then, when I woke up to go to the washroom in the middle of the night, it happened again! After the dripping bothered me for 10 or 15 min, I got up AGAIN and closed the bathroom door. I could still hear it a bit, but at least I was able to get […] back to sleep! Read more

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days. It's location is good, close to old port area and the hotel is comfortable. Two big cons are: 1) The neighborhood doesn't look very safe. We walked at night through St. Catherine avenue which has most of the shops and found many drunkards, few of which were shouting and randomly hitting things. 2) The housekeeping […] is only once a week! This is our first experience with such service and found it inconvenient that we had to take out the trash ourselves and go to the reception to get clean towels and trash bags and even coffee filters/sugar as they got exhausted The parking is expensive, as is with every hotel in this area and in addition to that we found that most of the attractions like biodome, St. Joseph's Oratory etc are not in downtown and we needed to drive and park elsewhere anyway. Hence, when we return to Montreal for a visit, we will most probably stay out of downtown and use the subway (STM) to get in and out of that location Read more

No ice machines in the hotel. I felt like I was bothering the staff when I asked a question or for information. They told me there was no parking for my car until after 2:00pm and it couldn't be left on the street. I went down to the garage and there were almost no cars in there. we got a room with a full kitchen(dish-washer, pans,cups,almost everything). And the china town is only 1 minute away. It is very convenience to make meals. The old montreal area is only 5 minutes walk. The night view is amazing. We love this place, feel like at home.

The hotel and staff were great , but the hotel was hard to find it's between two other hotels and its not well marked. It"s in the same building as the holiday Inn express. No parking space in the front you have to leave your car around the corner then check in get parking tags then drive around the other side of the building to the entrance of the […] parking garage. all the inconvience and you have to pay extra for the privlage to park there. I really appreciated the helpful and friendly front desk staff at this hotel. We had a large group stay at the hotel and they were very accomodating and willing to make our stay easy and comfortable!

Although not surrounded by the nicest of nieghbourhoods, the hotel has extremely helpful staff, rooms are adequate, and the price is reasonable. Close to the metro to get to all points in Montreal. Hotel needs some upgrades, but overall there is really nothing to complain about. I would stay there again.

Great area to stay in. Very close to the metropolis concert venue for those who are looking for a hotel. Received a junior suite with two queen beds a sofa/couch, reclining chair and full kitchen for a very decent price. Would definitely stay again. The suite I rent, with 3 friends, was beyond my expectation ! The beds are really confortable and pillows very fluffy ! The kitchen was perfect, it's being at home ! The only thing we didn't like is that the sofa bed was dated and not very stable. But overall, we enjoyed our stay ! my only complaint is about the internet... it was not working in my original room, so the next day someone came and looked at it and said it would take a while to fix so he got me another room and moved my stuff. the next day i got a call from front desk asking me why i was in that room! I told them i was told to move the previous day... why did front […] desk not know this?? I was made to feel like i did something wrong when I only did what I was told to do. This hotel was far more than what I expected it to be. Having stayed in many 3~4 star hotels across North America this was certainly one of the best. Staff polite and vey courteous, rooms are bigger than what appeared in the photos. And they were very clean. No fluff coming off the carpets, no stains, clean crisp linen. Washroom clean. Kitchen well […] equipped. Plenty of windows and sunlight coming into the room. I stayed for two nights only. Therefore house keeping was not an issue. This hotel was perfect for our family of 4, especially with the full kitchen. We able to walk down the steet to the IGA, or even at the vendors in Chinatown and cook it ourselves, which saved money on our food budget. Our stay was 3 days, 2 nights, and Candlewood definately was something nice and comfortable to come 'home' to. There was a DVD player, […] as well as an ethernet connection, so that was good.
