Novotel Leeds Centre - Leeds

I needed to find an affordable hotel for a week - close to the Train station in Leeds UK. This hotel fit my plans perfectly as I could walk to the hotel and to the University. The station was 5 mins away and the university was 10 - 15 mins depending on where you needed to be on campus. The bus service is good in the week and not so great on the weekends. […] The hotel has free internet in the lobby on 2 iMac desktop computers 40 mins per session which was fine for my needs. There is a surcharge in the room. The hotel has spacious hotel rooms (by UK standards) and nice bathrooms. The bed sounded metallic and noisy when sat on but the bed was surprisingly comfortable for such a thin mattress. There is a sofa that turns in to a bed but that was less than comfy but what sofa bed is ? Fine for children but I doubt an adult could stand more than a night. The pillows were nicer on the sofa bed than the regular bed but the blanket was not as nice as the duvet on the bed. One night to my horror a group of 10 girls checked in for a wild-weekend away and another group of 15 men were there for an event and I was dreading the noise from one or other of the groups and much to my amazement I heard NOTHING. It's difficult to explain how uncomfortable a bed was. Generally I do not complain but this time I just have to. I woke up in pain because of uncomfortable bed and too stuffed/too hard/too high pillow. I was glad that I stayed there for one night only. Apart from that all was ok.

Really good hotel - not much more expensive than a budget hotel, but much better. Lovely room, really handy for city centre. Car parking arrangments a little confusing, but brilliantly sorted out by receptionist.

excellent location very close to centre and train/bus station. rooms very clean and comfortable, bed was very comfy. Added touch with complimentary water in the fridge and kettle and nespresso coffee machine. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom. All in all an excellent stay will use again.

We (used to) stay in novotel all over europe and this was disappointing and easily or worst experience. Nothing major, but odd things were just frustrating and indicate poor maintenance or systems. At least 4 times we had to have our room keys changed as they stopped working and other petty irritations like cold tea at breakfast. This is a conventional Novotel, so if you are a Novotel regular everything is as expected. Drove for 4 hours from Glasgow, arrived at 8pm. tried to get into tiny hotel car park but was full so found a public car park over the road from the hotel. Great hotel, the staff were excellent and the exec bedroom was great, the most comfy duvet, bed and pillows that i have had for some time, excellent. would stary again.. if there are issues, the car park isnt that easy to find, its tucked in at the back of the hotel..the bedroom internet connection is cable with a special package to buy 10 GBP....

I have stayed here before and have never had any problems. A nice friendly hotel close to Leeds City Centre and the Train Station. I drove this time and the parking area is very cramped so make sure you get there early!

Cleanliness - Room was very clean and we were very impressed, how ever there was a large curry looking stain on the carpet. Otherwise very good. Service - Check in/out was very fast and efficient. Also requested a taxi to be booked and this was done with no fuss. Terrible service on the front desk! I had to walk into the back office to get someone to check us in. The lady did not even apologise and then could not find my booking! She called another lady who then found my booking but again no apology. This hotel should get rid of inept people as they are giving the hotel sector a bad name in the UK.

Checked into standard room early evening in Jan. OK, it is very cold in Leeds in January, snow on the ground, so was so looking forward to a nice warm room and a hot shower. Therefore, it was very disappointing that the room was very cold. Put the room " heating" system on maximum. After 3 hours the room was still cold, my feet were blocks of ice! I […] explained to staff that room was cold, they initially gave me a portable electric heater. After a bit of discussion, I was offered a room upgrade to executive room as they said it was warmer. This was very kind of the hotel Management. However, even this executive room was cold. I had to use a portable heater. It is England, it is winter, why are the rooms so cold? Two issues here, one is the hotel team do not switch on room heating, u have to do that when u check in, if that is late evening then room does not get warm. The 2nd issue is that the 'heating' vents are near the ceiling, the hot air stays near the ceiling, but the rest of the room remains cold. The hotel could make sure room heating is on in the day especially when room booked well in advanced and confirmed. This would help their customers checking in late. I can not understand why a 4 star hotel can not get the basics of room environment right, is warm and comfortable. The Novotel has obviously focused on room decor (which is very nice) rather than making rooms warm and comfortable, this is my reason for the low rating, a hotel not getting the basics right. I was visiting my girlfriend in Leeds and we decided to stay fairly central. This couldnt have been better in terms of location and price. I have stayed in many Novotels and they have all been great. The Leeds Novotel has secure parking, friendly staff and a very modern feel to the reception and bar area. The rooms were great, very big and comfortable....the […] only slight downside was that it was a little loud as its quite close to the city traffic, which meant we were reliant on the air con, as opposed to fresh air. That is just a slight negative though, everything else was great! Leeds is realkly good for shopping and the hotel is around 5 mins walk from the shops, and less than that from the train station. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in Europe in the last 5 years and this ranks highly in my view.
