I was with my three year old who loved the pool. A single load of laundry in a machine is very expensive, as is buying internet and breakfast. Hotel is in a good location, between Chinatown and Clark Quay. The room was great for the relatively low price. My only complaint is the internet. They charge for internet in your room, you have to pay an additional charge if you connect more than one device, and if you want to use it in the lobby you have to pay again. The only thing is that the hotel does not provide free wifi or complementary internet. In this era, this to me is a standard feature. For the hotel rating at 4-star and ask for paid-for-slow internet connection is kind of absurd to me.

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel. It's 2 blocks from Clarke Quay and a block or so from the Chinatown station. It's old but well maintained and I like it. My only compliant is the Executive Club cocktail hour: their snacks and wines aren't satisfactory.

I have stayed at other Furama properties. This hotel is aging, I guess it was built in the 80s. But finishings are in very good condition. My room was very comfortable. It's convenient to MRT. My only complaint was the small Executive Lounge. I'll return next trip to Singapore.

The hotel is clean, a bit old but still OK. But the thing that gets me about this place is the greed of the management. I have stayed there several times for extended stays over the past two years but I receive absolutely no recognition. Location is good, service is good, the room was large, clean and, except for a lack of storage space for clothes, well appointed. I would stay at this hotel again, if it is close to whatever event takes us back to Singapore. No need to read on unless you are considering the upgrade rooms... The 'executive floor' facilities turned out to be a very […] small, uncomfortably furnished, harshly decorated, glass-fronted office next to reception. While breakfast was included it was a very poor effort. An 'american breakfast' featuring halal substitutes is never a good idea, but I was amazed to find that the asian alternatives were inedible too. Oh well, at least we can drop in for a drink later? Well yes, between the hours of 6pm and 8pm they offer a narrow selection of spirits from brands never seen before or since; having eyed up the drinks and the uninviting surroundings we skipped those too. Luckily there are plenty of places for a decent meal nearby, and socializing in a hotel is rarely on my list of things to do. Checked in to find deluxe room was an abnormally small makeshift room that smelled of mildew and had a small window facing into the atrium. I requested a new room, but only a smoking room was available the first night. The staff tried to be helpful, but every request had to be "referred to the manager". I got a nice room for the 2nd and 3rd nights, […] but the ethernet cable wasn't working. I could get a wireless connection in my room, but the hotel only sells wireless service by the hour and not the day. To buy daily service (26 SGD per day) you have to use the ethernet cable. They compensated by giving me a free wireless password for the next 24 hours. The location next to Chinatown and one block from the MRT subway was very convenient. The Chinatown here reminds me of the New Orleans French Quarter. Read more

This is a perfectly fine hotel with decent rooms, a central location and great price. I have probably spent over a month at this hotel during the last 3 years. Service can be a little patchy, but the price and overall experience can't be beat. I never allow the bellmen to have my bags, because of this experience: 7pm arrive. 7:30pm, bag still not delivered. […] I leave the hotel for dinner, wearing the same clothes. Return at midnight. Still no bags in the room. At 4am the phone rings, to see if I want my bags now! It's rare for me to complain to management, but I did in this case and got only a half-hearted apology. I don't think they understood the incredible faux pas. The guest needs their bag, and you should never, ever wake a guest at 4am unless they have asked you to! It's a good idea to reserve your own taxi ahead of time if you need to get somewhere like the airport. This is generally true of Singapore. Read more

My wife, 22 year old daughter, and I stayed at this hotel for a two day lay over both on our way to Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia and for our return home. We had a good sized room with two double beds. My daughter liked the arrangement of the bathroom and all of us were more than happy with the accommodations. We stayed there for two days on our arrival […] and returned to stay there for two more days on our departure. We flew in an out of the region through Singapore’s Changi Airport because the airfare was much less than through KL and we wanted to spend some time in Singapore. We took the Malaysian KTMB’s day express train No. 2 from Singapore to KL, which was on time and enjoyable but the equipment was not the newest as shown in their brochures. We hired a van for the return to Singapore to shave time from the trip and to make a stop for a day tour of Malacca. The cost for the train and the van (less the tour guide) added to our airfare was still less than direct flights to KL. The hotel is conveniently located next to Chinatown and the Chinatown Station (NE3) of Singapore Mass Rapid Transit's (subway) North East (Purple) Line which gives you access to virtually anywhere on the island within minutes including Sentosa Island which is only two stops away. It is also within walking distance of Clarke Quay and all of the restaurants and night spots there. The price was right and the convenience and access to local transit and taxis was a plus. One negative was that breakfast was not included with the room and was expensive at the hotel’s restaurant but that was not an issue as there are local and western chain eateries such as McDonald’s available next to the hotel. Internet access is at a cost within the hotel as is the case for most hotels in the region but again the western chain eateries next door had free wireless access so there was a work around for that available as well. Check-in was very fast, even check-out. The deluxe rooms on the 4th floor have only small window or no window. This rooms are more Hotel81 style then 4*. The service is not very comfortable. The staff's accent is very strong, and is not easy for communication. I selected the smoking room for my dad. But the exhaust fan in the restroom doesn't work at all. I have report this problem to the front desk. The staff said they would check it out, but the problem didn't solved at all.
