The Convent Hotel is located on one of the main streets in Amsterdam and within easy walking distance to the Centraal Train station and Dam Square-so public transportation is a snap. The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friently. The one complaint about the staff is that they do not seem very knowledgeable about typical tourist activities in Amsterdam and we didn't find a concierge staff member to help with some of our questions. Our booking through hotels.com did not include the breakfast, which looked wonderful and was expensive, so we found a lovely little care within a block or two from the hotel for our breakfasts. Lots of tours seem to use the hotel, so the staff is very comfortable speaking in English with everyone.The entrance to the hotel faces the very busy street, but the rooms are all in the back of the hotel and are very quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I would suggest trying to get the breakfast included in the hotel price.

The hotel was clean, nice, the staff friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. The location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants, and things to see in Amsterdam.

The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.

We stayed there from 19 Sep 09 to 21 Sep 09. The hotel is within walking distance from the Centraal train station and is centrally located in the heart of old Amsterdam. The rooms do not have a bathroom in the rooms, so you have to go to a separate bathroom and a separate shower room. It does not have an elevator so you have to carry your luggage up […] a flight of stairs to get to lobby and if you are not on the first floor, more stairs to your room. The breakfast is in the restaurant downstairs and is good to get your day started. There are nicer hotels in the area but they are much more expensive. As long as you just go there for sleeping, you won't be disappointed. Read more

"Hotell Manofa Amsterdam"
Positivt: Hotellet låg väldigt centralt och bra, kommer man med tåg från t.ex Eindhoven så låg hotellet cirka 500 meter från tågstationen och Red Light District ungefär 500 meter bort. Personalen var trevliga, gratis frukost och två datorer i receptionen med gratis internet plus trådlöst wifi gratis. Negativt: Hotellet är i stort behov av att rustas […] upp, våra rum var skabbiga och vidriga, smutsfläckar på tak, väggar och golv bl.a: Herrarnas toalett fungerade inte under 3 utav 4 dagar. En dusch på en våning och det var ett trångt duschrum så att ta med kläder in dit var att glömma vilket gjorde att man fick gå näck med endast handduk genom hela korridoren. Nattklubb/pub låg under/närheten som kändes som att man befann sig på klubben när man låg i rummet, så hög var musiken. Jag kommer aldrig att återkomma till detta hotellet, det negativa väger för tungt mot det lilla positiva tyvärr och jag rekommenderar inte detta hotell. Read more

Hotel à 5 mn à pied de la gare centrale, c'est bien son seul avantage : chambres mal isolées et tres décrépies, des lits défoncés; petit déjeuner dans le snack à côté, froid et sans aucun charme.
"Centralt beliggende og billigt hotel"
Centralt beliggende tæt ved Central Station og gå afstand til interessante kvarterer i Amsterdam. Forvent larm fra gaden Damrak samt fra underliggende butik (9-22 dagligt). Små værelser - visse værelser har ikke eget bad. Receptions betjeningen venlig. Billigt hotel - især brugt af yngre mennesker. OK til prisen.

L'accueil n'a pas été aimable. Lorsque mon accompagnateur a parlé le hollandais, les choses se sont améliorées. Par contre, voyant mon âge, le réceptionniste m'a donné une chambre au rez-de-chaussée au lieu du 4ème étage comme prévu. J'en suis reconnaissante. Les ressorts du lit étaient trop perceptibles. "Le strict minimum"
La réception est légèrement peu aimable la chambre n'était pas prête à 13 h, comme prévu, puisque le ménage n'était pas encore fait. Donc quand vous arrivez on vous dit la chambre sera prête dans 20 mn. juste le temps pour le personnel de "nettoyer" sommairement la chambre en repliant juste les draps et en changeant les serviettes... après il y a une […] télé dans la chambre mais elle ne marche pas. mais sinon quand vous comptez juste dormir dans la chambre et vous lavez, ça suffit. ne pas oublier de vérifier si la porte est fermé parce que certaine personne de l'hôtel n'hésiteront pas a essayer de rentrer en pleine nuit. "inget för barnfamiljer eller pers som har svårt att gå i trappor"
Mycket jobbiga trappor, elektriciteten kändes lite tjollahoppsan, frukosten hade inte öppnat vid utsatt tid så vi fick hitta ett annat ställe. Hade motsvarande fastighet funnits i Sverige hade man nog rivit stället. Detta hotell passar utmärkt till tågluffande ungdom som budgetvariant.
