This is the second time I've stayed at Congress Hall. As was the case last year, I was unable to access the internet during my visit. For folks like me who have to telecommute even on vacation, this is a big problem. The front desk was friendly but not helpful. They were polite and went through the motions of diagnosing the problem, but essentially, […] they didn't know what they were doing. No tech savvy staff = no wireless connection. Place was great overall. In April not very crowded, asked for an upgrade to an ocean view room. Desk wanted to charge me an extra forty dollars for the upgrade. I declined, thought that was kind of cheesy seeing how they weren't booked solid. Spent the forty at Cubana's bar around the corner at happy hour instead.

Overall, I think this hotel was great. The location was amazing. We didn't need our car at all. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the restaurant was very good, and the service was great. There is an obvious "old-world" elegance to CONGRESS HALL that might not suit everybody's taste. It's not "dowdy" (yet), but if it is allowed to carry on as is, this classic hotel could fall out of favor in a couple of years. We enjoyed our quaint but spacious room, with its small bay window looking out on the grounds and the shoreline. In fact, the […] window has a large inside ledge that my wife curled up on. She started reading, but the warm sun soon had her dozing. I immediately noticed that our room's floor was not level (it inclined slightly toward the hallway), but we found that "cute." And in a historic building, one should expect a few quirks. The room was clean, the bathroom was nice, and breakfast at CONGRESS HALL is truly something to look forward to. Really nice place just a bit pricy. Friendly staff. Clean room. Spa and spa staff were great. Multiple dining and shopping options despite the time of year. Blue Pig is a winner! The Blue Pig restaurant quality of food is only fair at best. I ordered a NY steak that was terrible, at a premium price. However, I had breakfast the next day. Breakfast was great. Not very many people, but it took 30 minutes to receive our order. The waitress we had was a big zero. She showed up after we fininshed, and placed the check on the table […] and walked off. My boyfriend and I wanted a quiet holiday weekend before the family hustle and bustle of Christmas stress begins. We chose Cape May because we had been there in the Summer and the boyfriend lived there in his teenage years. Seeing Cape May and Congress Hall at Christmas is magical. It was the weekend to have breakfast with Santa and the Winter Wonderland […] was set up with actual train for the kids to ride. We don't have any children but watching them enjoy the holiday season was sweet enough. The weather was perfect for a heavy sweater and scarf for walking around during the day. Congress Hall was the perfect romantic place to stay. Even though there was a wedding that weekend, which resulted in wedding guests yelling up and down the hall way, it was still amazing. The room was spacious, homey and colonial. We had a view of the ocean and the huge Christmas tree in the back courtyard. We want to return to Congress Hall every Christmas as a new tradition. We were made to feel totally comfortable from the minute we walked to the door. Very relaxing and great to wake up with the sun coming in the balcony window looking out to the beach with a light breeze coming ashore.

We were surprised at how quaint this hotel was. We came to CapeMay for a wedding at another hotel near by. (That hotel had a two night stay which did not work for us.) The Congress Hall was perfect. Way nicer than the hotel where the wedding was but right around the corner. We arrived early and were told prior that morning that our room would be ready […] to change in before the wedding. Upon check-in they said the room would not be ready and then we mentioned we had called earlier. The girl at the desk seemed a little annoyed and then gave us another room. The room was small but really nice. The bed and pillows were excellent, we loved the fact that it had an older feel but had all the comforts of a modern hotel. Room was really clean, especially the bathroom. We had breakfast the next day in the Blue Pig and it was excellent! Valet parking is complimentary and the staff was exceptional! We will go back! On a sunny October day, I was thrilled to see that the pool was still open for us to enjoy. The fireside reading area in the Brown Room was a god send on the day when it rained. The only thing that could have made it better would be if the chairs were more comfortable.

The Hotel is magnificent. We asked for an upgrade upon our arrival because the first accommodation had some limitations. This seemed to be due to some communication snafu between Hotels.com and the hotel, we were told. However, the staff immediately worked to arrange for a better situation for us.

This is a lovely, old hotel with comfortable rooms and beautiful grounds. We loved the big bar area with its huge wood-burning fireplace and the adjoining tavern, the Blue Pig. Beware of the bed sizes, though. They assigned us a room with a double bed instead of the queen we paid for in a handicapped room which we didn't need. Overall the stay was nice. Was there for a wedding the venue is nice and overlooks the Ocean. Food for the event was average. It is an old building as is evident by the rooms. The one we were in was actually on about a 5 degree slope. Would suggest as a place to stay.

The location of Congress Hall is excellent. Walking distance to just about anything. The hotel itself was great! Very clean, employees were very friendly and helpful, and we just fell in love with the place. My stay at Congress Hall was great. Very nice and clean and all around pleasant. The wireless service wasn't working while I was there which is more owing to bad luck than bad service. The neighborhood was quaint, which I liked, but finding a decent meal was tough. Nearby restaurants close at odd hours. Finding an afternoon lunch at a restaurant around […] 3 was impossible. A lot of the food I ate was simply disgusting and overpriced. I'm not a picky eater and I don't demand the best. But the food was really nasty. If you want a decent meal you'll have to drive. I ended up going to a fancy seafood restaurant which was awesome. Warning: the room offers a fridge, but you can't use it since it's stuffed completely with overpriced alcohol and water. Read more

Our stay was delightful, we had a balcony room overlooking the ocean and pool and it was just beautiful. The closet was huge and the bathroom large and spotless. I've wanted to stay at the finest looking hotel in Cape May - Congress Hall - for quite some time. Finally took the trip and I although the overall stay was fine, I wanted to share the cons here. Pros - It is truly a stunning looking hotel inside and out. Staff was friendly. The restaurant The Blue Pig is great as well. We booked a town view room with […] a queen sized bed. Room view was great, bed was closer to full size bed than queen - a little to snug for comfort. There was a noticable slant of the floor of the bedroom; not sure if that's due to this very old structure settling, or by design. Our biggest gripe was the bathroom. There was just a shower on a tile floor (no bathtub or anything); when we questioned the front desk - they said that it was for handicap access - and that they put people in these rooms if they are booked up. We arrived at check-in time, and the Hotel wasn't crowded, so I'm guessing it was just an oversight (benefit of doubt). Not certain why the staff wouldnt have said that they were putting us in a room with a handicap-accessible bathroom right off the bat - that's the issue. In any case - It's a fine hotel - definitely a well-kept landmark. Read more

I paid extra for a king ocean view thinking it was a king bed.. no. It was a small double on the 4th floor. I couldnt find help at the front desk to rectify. The blinds did a poor job of keeping out the blaring sun even on a cloudy day. It was an interesting building, very large and historical. (A bit creepy for me though. Being well over 100 years old Congress Hall offers a unique look into what lodging once was and where service was of upmost importance. Hotels com said the hotel had a hot jacuzzi and there was none we took the ferry across the Delaware only to find out the shuttle that thd nite clerk told us that would take us to the malls was not running except on weekends what a joke would never use this booking agency or stay at this hotel again. A very high room rate for three adults for one night OFF SEASON? A bath towel had a hole in it, there were no chairs to sit on, room furniture was mismatched, there was no business center and no vending pop machine, No offer from the front desk for a less than satisfied stay.
