Like stepping into a time capsule. I fancy myself a Victorian era merchant visiting Cape May and lodging at the finest establishment in town. Ever wanted to spend the night at a museum? here's your chance. I travel to Cape May on business a couple times a year... I now know where I will be staying, every time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best birthday ever"
It was amazing, I can not say enough how happy we wereGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Clearly the Congress Hall was prepared for the holiday with festive decorations, music, and of course the tree. Luckily a one man production of David Sedaris's Santaland Diaries was scheduled for the same evening we arrived. We ate at the Blue Pig, saw the performance (fun) then enjoyed the Wassailig at the mall. We ended up having a drink in the piano […] bar at the hotel then retired to our room.,We didn't need to drive anywhere. It was wonderful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Last minute house hunting weekend"
We decided at the last minute to drive down from New York to Cape May for the weekend. Usually Congress Hall is out of our price range, but as it turns out they had a room left, as it was an off weekend- so the price was right. From the moment we arrived we were treated like visiting royalty. The place is pretty spectacular-like walking into another […] century. From the valet parking guys, to the front desk people to the hostess, and wait staff, everyone was incredibly gracious and welcoming. The room was as described like something from the 1800's with all the charm of an elegant bed and breakfast, as well as all the modern amenities. We stopped into the Brown Room for a glass of wine and to listen to music-great! A friendly relaxed crowd enjoying Friday happy hour. We had always wanted to eat at the Blue Pig Tavern, so walked in after we had had a glass of wine at the bar. The food was spectacular-we live in a place with no shortage of great restaurants, but the Blue Pig is the type of restaurants that you want to go back to the next night. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the hotel is quiet at night. All in all a perfect stay. We'll be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A step back in time"
Care to see what life was like at the shore a hundred years ago? Take an enjoyable stay at the Congress Hotel in Cape May then and travel back in time. A delightful hotel located in the heart of Cape May at the center of town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"terrible customer service"
We were offered a "sofa bed"because they were sold out of rooms after we booked??? I offered to change to the following night for a regular room and was told I could do so As this was the start of a 10 day trip I rearranged all of our reservations When I called to confirm om the following day I was told I could stay on Sat but not cancel Friday We were […] so upset we did not stay at the hotel at all They kept our money for the Friday sofa bed. The reservation department was so rude and not accomodating at all I would never have anything to do with this hotel ever again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to beach and downtown"
This hotel was very nice and very clean but my original room (the queen town view) was very small, however I was upgraded to a King at no additional charge, though I felt as though my entire room was on a slope...it was strange. "Worth it :-)"
We have been to Congress Hall twice this year, and can't rave enough about the people, accommodations, and location...we walked to fine dining, but found little snacking places just as easily...they make planning your days fun, giving you information on sites and local happenings...and sitting on the Great Lawn overlooking the beach on an October day, […] with a good book and a Latte from the coffee shop...priceless.... We had a very nice time. The rooms were little old but nice. We ate two meals dinner and breakfast, at the "pig". Menu was very limited and was the same over at our stay at the Virginia. Location was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The only fault I founds was the Blue Pig Resturant, it was too dark to see the menu and Monday nights the special is Prime Rib. We arrived for dinner at 8 PM and they had already run out of Prime Rib, offering Meat Loaf as a special. I didn't go out for Meat Loaf.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Each year in October my sister and I come to Cape May and stay at Congress Hall. We have never been disappointed . The staff are exceptionally courteous and helpful . The Blue Pig is our favorite , and a cocktail in the Brown Room is the perfect way to end the day !Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful Hotel ~ closeby to everything!"
We loved staying at Congress Hall Hotel. It is a beautiful old hotel with alot of charm. The rooms were spotless. I loved the big bathroom with the old fashion tub and fixtures. The window seat was a plus as well as the WiFi. We were very comfortable staying at this hotel, plus the staff was friendly and very accommodating. Congress Hall was close to […] the beach and the shopping where you could walk or ride your bike. We also loved sitting on the big Veranda where the rocking chairs were. Very relaxing. The Blue Pig was our favorite place to have breakfast in the morning. It is right in the Hotel. Excellent food! Our stay was perfect for the 5 days we were there. You won't be sorry if you like the charm and history of Cape May and it is definitely in this Hotel. We will definitely be back next year!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Welcoming helpful staff, clean beautiful room. It is pricey so I think at least complimentary coffee in the morning would be nice ... paper by the door was good ! It was a gorgeous day and Congress Hall was a class place to stay !Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Space to Be In"
We enjoyed the hotel and all the wonderful seating areas. The Blue Pig Tavern, however, was a BIG disappointment which we learned on the first day. The hotel staff couldn't have been more pleasant. For the money, I'm a little surprised there isn't continental breakfast, or at least a coffee bar. But overall we enjoyed our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Many benefits but a few deficiencies."
For the price it should include breakfast, a room refridgerator, and hot water in your room. It had much and professional personal service through their pleasant staff. The conscierge service at the beach was unique and convenient but very costly, the food was very good. The hotel is very historical and renovated very well. Enjoyed the piano bar and […] nightclub. "Excellent Except No Wireless"
This is the second time I've stayed at Congress Hall. As was the case last year, I was unable to access the internet during my visit. For folks like me who have to telecommute even on vacation, this is a big problem. The front desk was friendly but not helpful. They were polite and went through the motions of diagnosing the problem, but essentially, […] they didn't know what they were doing. No tech savvy staff = no wireless connection. "Beautifully restored jewel by the ocean"
Short stay the weekend prior to Mother's Day. Beautifully restored! The room was lovely! The bathroom spacious and I loved the samples of the Aveda products. From the staff at the front desk, to the courteous valet, to housekeeping, nothing was ever a problem. The workers take great pride in their jobs and it shows! We were served appetizers and drinks […] by the cozy fire . Please don't forget to try the rocking chairs on the Veranda! The Tommy's Folly Shop inside the hotel had some wonderful merchandise, everything from soup to gourmet coffees to souvenirs to remember your visit. The hotel is located so close to all of the shops in the pedestrian area! The next time we will treat ourselves to the Spa. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Hotel is very nice, the history is facinating. I have to say however the room was not exactly what I had expected. When booking with Expedia, I believe you get the less desireable rooms due to the cost saving. I've found this to be true at other locations. I realize this is a very old Hotel with a lot of settling, but my room had a 4 inch slope […] from wall to center of the room, bath water was much higher at one end etc. The wine glasses were dusty. I looked at the other rooms on the floor and none were as bad as mine, rooms should not be rented in this condition. I believe I would have gotten a much better room if I was paying full rate. Place was great overall. In April not very crowded, asked for an upgrade to an ocean view room. Desk wanted to charge me an extra forty dollars for the upgrade. I declined, thought that was kind of cheesy seeing how they weren't booked solid. Spent the forty at Cubana's bar around the corner at happy hour instead.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not great ocean views"
Overall, I think this hotel was great. The location was amazing. We didn't need our car at all. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the restaurant was very good, and the service was great. We paid extra for ocean views and were very disappointed. If you looked out your window you saw only grass and another hotel. The only way to see the ocean […] was to look left. It was not worth the upgrade and would have been better labeled "partial ocean views". Overall, great! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"In a charming area"
There is an obvious "old-world" elegance to CONGRESS HALL that might not suit everybody's taste. It's not "dowdy" (yet), but if it is allowed to carry on as is, this classic hotel could fall out of favor in a couple of years. We enjoyed our quaint but spacious room, with its small bay window looking out on the grounds and the shoreline. In fact, the […] window has a large inside ledge that my wife curled up on. She started reading, but the warm sun soon had her dozing. I immediately noticed that our room's floor was not level (it inclined slightly toward the hallway), but we found that "cute." And in a historic building, one should expect a few quirks. The room was clean, the bathroom was nice, and breakfast at CONGRESS HALL is truly something to look forward to. All in all, we will return for another quick rejuvenation! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Blue Pig Restaurant"
The Blue Pig restaurant quality of food is only fair at best. I ordered a NY steak that was terrible, at a premium price. However, I had breakfast the next day. Breakfast was great. Not very many people, but it took 30 minutes to receive our order. The waitress we had was a big zero. She showed up after we fininshed, and placed the check on the table […] and walked off. "great hotel in cape may"
good clean room. friendly staff. good location. no problems.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend and I wanted a quiet holiday weekend before the family hustle and bustle of Christmas stress begins. We chose Cape May because we had been there in the Summer and the boyfriend lived there in his teenage years. Seeing Cape May and Congress Hall at Christmas is magical. It was the weekend to have breakfast with Santa and the Winter Wonderland […] was set up with actual train for the kids to ride. We don't have any children but watching them enjoy the holiday season was sweet enough. The weather was perfect for a heavy sweater and scarf for walking around during the day. Congress Hall was the perfect romantic place to stay. Even though there was a wedding that weekend, which resulted in wedding guests yelling up and down the hall way, it was still amazing. The room was spacious, homey and colonial. We had a view of the ocean and the huge Christmas tree in the back courtyard. We want to return to Congress Hall every Christmas as a new tradition. We were surprised at how quaint this hotel was. We came to CapeMay for a wedding at another hotel near by. (That hotel had a two night stay which did not work for us.) The Congress Hall was perfect. Way nicer than the hotel where the wedding was but right around the corner. We arrived early and were told prior that morning that our room would be ready […] to change in before the wedding. Upon check-in they said the room would not be ready and then we mentioned we had called earlier. The girl at the desk seemed a little annoyed and then gave us another room. The room was small but really nice. The bed and pillows were excellent, we loved the fact that it had an older feel but had all the comforts of a modern hotel. Room was really clean, especially the bathroom. We had breakfast the next day in the Blue Pig and it was excellent! Valet parking is complimentary and the staff was exceptional! We will go back!
