The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean and we had the pool and spa to ourselves almost the whole time. We were on the side of the hotel that faces the freeway, but didn't notice the traffic noise.

Friendly check in and very helpful. Motel is getting a bit old but is well worth the price. Great room service and I very much enjoyed the free breakfast. It was the second time that we stayed there and we will stay there next year as well if we attend the Oregon State Fair again. Nice place.

Although the hotel is next to the highway and our room was facing it, there was no issue with traffic noise. The room was clean and contrary to some other reviews there was no issue with the air quality in the room. First let me state that I booked on Friday for a stay on Sat nite. I requested a handicap accessible, non smoking room. When we arrived the clerk said my reservation was for a smoking room, I said, 'no' and she said that's all we have anyway. No accessible rooms available. Ok- not surprised with late booking. The room stank... it had such a strong odor […] that opening windows and doors and running fans didn't help. (Bought and used almost a full bottle of Fabreez- still bad!) Hallway outside the room smelled of smoke as well. It was definitely not the room pictured on the website. I didn't expect it to be great... this is Super 8, but it was much less than pictured. When I went to get ice the large trash can in the vending area was dirty all over the outside- to the point that I was afraid to touch pretty much everything in the room. The breakfast included cereal, packaged rolls and coffee or juice. At least the coffee was a little better than what was in the room which was poor. Overall- not worth a stop. Would not recommend this even for a Super 8. Read more

This is possibly one of the worst rooms I have stayed in. The mattresses were so uncomfortable I didn't sleep at all! The room decor was from the 70's. Definately would not recommend this place. Very surprised because I have stayed in other Super 8 and they were nice.

Hotel is a bit run down. We got a smoking room instead of non-smoking. Key cards had to be taken to office twice to be reset. Hotel is run down, but decently clean for price range. Location is central to shopping and dining.

This is a basic hotel but fulfilled the needs. A comfotable bed with a clean room and shower. Free internet is a big plus. Breakfast is basic, but again something to get you going. If you need a place on a budget I would recommeng this hotel.

The people running the establishment were very nice, however it was VERY run down, and obviously had been a smoking hotel at one point as it REAKED of smoke and a very bad deoderizer. We stayed one night and got in late. We were greeted cheerfully and the customer service people met all our requests. We had our pet and they were more than happy to give us a room...and it was a nice room. We will go there again and the price was just right!

As I was checking in the TV was tuned to the music station MTV which had a program that was all about sex. The volume was much louder than it needed to be. It wasn't a family frirendly program to have as potential customers enter the hotel. I mentioned this to the desk clerk. While I was waiting another customer came from her room extremely dissastisfied with the condition of her room and the fact that it was not made clear to her that smoking was allowed in some parts of the hotel. The room wasn't anything fancy, but I didn't need it fancy for just one night (not sure I would have wanted to stay 2). The Harley-Davidson out side my window throughout the night didn't help my impression of the Salem Super 8. It worked in a pinch, but if my wife had been with me I would have chosen better. The service was RUDE an NOT HELPFUL. We asked for a NON SMOKING an got a SMOKING room. They said it was the only one available. It smelled horrible. We couldn't even turn on the heater or fan cause the smelled was so bad. There were no elevaters, the hallway had a very bad smell of cigeretts smoke and other smells, the bathtub was dirty, and the carpet was sooo dirty that it turned the bottom of my feet black...good thing I didn't have a baby crawling around ...yuk. Hotel would not accomodate for my non smoking needs. The expedia itinerary had in fine print that it was upon availability, but the room I paid for specifically said non smoking two queens.
