"One of the best All-Inclusives we've used!"
The Riu Jallisco was a very nice large resort with amazing food and incredible service. Normally, All-Inclusive resorts have mediocre food and service gets set to the way side in the hussle and bussle of a "mega" resort...not here. The food was great every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner...and the service was amazing, from the bar tenders to the […] front desk. I would recommend this resort to any families looking for a wonderful time away from it all. The beach was expansive, the pools were very nice, and the amenities were abundant. The only things we would like to see changed were the beds and pillows were pretty hard and we with they had a bathroom closer to the pool area. Overall, a great experience! "good hotel but needs renewal"
Hotel premises are kept ok, although hotel rooms could use an update, double beds are stuck toghether and it becomes a bit uncomfortable after a couple of nights... the thing that bothered me the most is the fact that since it was an all inclusive package, when eating at the buffet, every time a couple of dishes were empty, having to wait to get some […] new prepaired, another thing is that there is no variety especially in the breakfast buffets. the beach is really nice, and the pools are also good. The staff in the restaurants, not sure if it was because hotel was full, but they weren't quick enough to offer refills, etc... so basically, i might stay here again, but probably, not in a bussy week like new years. "Great hotel for families with kids."
We were in the hotel for 10 days from Dec.1 to Dec.11 and had a good time there. Except, when we were closer to the end, a lot of new people came from Canada and caused a big lines at breakfast and dinner time. Sometimes I stayed in line for 20 minutes. It is a good hotel for families with kids.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel for anyone!"
We been at the RIU many times before, we like it! The food is good, the room is clean and the staff is very nice. I don't know when the hotel opened, but over the years the rooms look a little aged. That would bee the only thing we have noticed. We recommend the hotel to anyone!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great if you like a lot of people"
This is an awesome facility, a true mansion, beautiful grounds, excellent food. But be prepared to like a lot of people swarming the place, especially local mexicans, children all over the place, very noisy......if you like a lot of action this is the place...if you want peacefulness choose another hotel. "November hotel stay"
Good place to stay for the value. We were unable to book dinner reservations until our last night there due to limited place. There were plenty of activities for the whole family. Dinner in main dinning hall was good, but could have been better. Dinner was amazing in the restaurants that required reservations. Bar tenders did entertaining tricks and […] kept the drinks coming all the time. Beautiful resort!! Difficult to find at first due to no signs at the end of the road letting us know we had to go past security stand. We did not know there was another way to find the facility. "Kid friendly, inexpensive, typical all inclusive"
Hotel offers everything you need for you and your toddler. You can ask for a crib for your room, take milk from the main restaurant and refrigiarate it in your room, plus all restaurants offer high chairs. There is kids playground (very small) and a shallow pool (not fun but it's an option). I was very concerned with finding what to eat for my 2 year […] old prior to our arrivals, but restaurants offered a variety of pasta's, soups, vegetables and meat/fish suitable for small kids. There are plenty of fruits to snack on. The food is ok. You will not find lobsters or jumbo shrimps, but you do get a variety for every taste. Make sure to visit Steakhouse and Brasilian, Asian is so so. Restaurant service is good when not too crowded. There were a couple weekend mornings when we couldn't find a table though for breakfast and had to wait for 10 min just going around the room. Beach and pools are nice. Free wifi Internet is only available at the lobby and only once a day for 90 min. However, this hotel is a bit outdated, with rust on fixtures in the rooms, though it's to be expected in such a high humid climate. Also, there is only 1 elevator station with 4 elevators and our room was a bit far from it so we ended up taking stairs a lot. Also, note that some nights are noisy with music and people at the bar. It didn't bother us, but did some people. If you want fancy food and newer rooms, spend more on Palace, otherwise it's a kid's friendly hotel and we'll be back for sure. "Won't be back......"
Hotel is clean, one pool needs a little repair work - loose and missinig tiles. The food was good except for the steak house. The biggest problem is they bus in locals by the hundreds for these 3-day weekends - these people don't seem to care about anything -- they leave trash and glasses all over the place - they give small children fruit drinks in […] the pool and of course it all ends up - in the pool - the pool water does not always look very clean Nice beach area. The shows are nice, the band before the show caters to the locals. You can only exchange Money at the banks in town with passort and drivers license. If you like to experience the local culture it is an expensive cab ride or a long bus trip from this resort. A $10.00 bottle of sunscreen is $20.00 at the hotel store - they take advantage of their location. The internet is no longer free - they give you 90 minutes a day in the lobby with horrible connectivity and the 90 minutes starts when you try to log on and continues to run until it expires - doesn't help to log off - your time continues to run - and no attachments. The desk help is not very helpful - their answer to problems is a small bottle of tequila. The birds have free access to the lunch restaurant, bird poop all over all the chairs - many broken. A little more busy than I'm used to, but still relaxing. There was a lot to do everywhere, a wonderful beach and great surf for a family. Something all the time for all ages. "Great for a family vacation"
The room was great, very romantic and clean. The view was wonderful. We came in October and the weather was beautifully hot, so hot we had to jump into the ocean a number of times. It's a very family filled atmosphere so if you're planning on being away from kids, this might not be the place. I personally found it very cute. It does get rather crowded […] during breakfast. The bartenders and waiters are very friendly, the food is ok. The room does not have an iron, the towels are controled like if you were in jail. they need to upgrade their room locks. Drinks are good, but i checked and they use hard liquor instead of tequila.Genuine Expedia guest review
A group of 12 from nearby Guayabitos recently spent 2 nights at the Riu Jalisco. We took advantage of low September rates and had a great time. "Too much going on"
The rooms are not fancy but clean, and so is the grounds. Even the public restrooms are kept tidy during the day The stuff is very friendly and eager to please. Lobby, pools and the beach are very well taken care of The things that got on our nerves are the amount of locals arriving by bus loads and basically taking over the place. Dont get me wrong-im […] all for the family vacation! But the whole idea of going all-inclusive is being free from logistics. Standing in line for omelet or pancakes, or looking for a place to sit with two kids for 20 minutes isnt part of the plan. Not to mention the absence of any kind of serenity with music blasting all day long by the pool and some guy screaming into the microphone. Then there are these birds flying all over the food and picking on it - that was quite disgusting to see. And one more thing-they really need to address their 'entertainment' programs, which go on far too late and are far too loud! There is virtually nothing going on for families with kids - you are just pretty much confined to your room after dinner. Couldnt there be movies in English? Or game nights for kids? Or any sort of competition? The food was great - amazing actually. Lots of fresh fruit all day long, tons of vegetables and great variety of options for everybody. My children were fed, happy and had a great time. I, however, would opt for a more upscale place with less crowds and more family oriented environment. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"This is a 3 star hotel."
Staff were friendly and helpful. But Hotel is very old and many of features you like to have in 5 star hotel is not there. Also I didn't particularly like mattress in my room. We try every year to spend a few days at the Riu Jalisco with our grandson. The one question you do not ask, and I would like to address is the food that is served at this hotel. "Good food. More locals than tourists."
We stayed in July for 6 days. Overall we had a good time, but I won't return to this Riu hotel. Complaints: - Upon arrival the airco in the room/entire hotel didn't work. - The room had a noisy ceiling fan and broken lamps. - Although there were a number of onsite restaurants no one told us that we had to make a res 2 days in advance. We arrived on […] Mon., but couldn't get a restaurant res until Thurs.. - We anticipated that our 9yr old son would have fun at the daily kids club. Unfortunately, all the kids spoke Spanish so the staff did too. Plus, they were much younger than him. Therefore he stayed with us instead. - Unless you take a taxi to town, there isn't anything to see in walking distance from the hotel. Compliments: - The food was up to Rius high standards. Plentiful and good with variety. :-) - The restaurant visit was nice and the food was great. - The pool was nice. - My son liked the iguanas that lived in the bushes and trees. Even though there was too many and all kind of people due to summer vacation, the hotel service from all the employees was very good. The food was just great Congratulations for that !. The entire hotel staff are all amazing - they all work very hard. My family and I have stayed in other RIU Resorts in Puerto Vallarta and we loved it, but this visit was not very relaxing. RIU Jalisco was very overcrowded with large families and crying young children. I didn't need an alarm every morning, there were always kids running around the halls […] screaming & crying at 8am. The adult pool was overcrowded with kids jumping in the pools splashing water all over the place. Don't get me wrong, I have kids of my own - but if I go on vacation I want to relax and not hear crying children all day long. Other hotels have full control of their pools, kids stay in the Kiddie pools and the adult pools are only for adults. Sorry RIU- I love your hotels, but this was a very disappointing stay. "Horrible loud smelly hotel with awful food"
I am surprised that Expedia would have this hotel on their list. It is no where near a 4 star hotel as it claims to be. The beach is beautiful but the hotel is totally unappealing. The rooms smell like mold and all of our clothes etc came back with a horrible smell. The food is awful. It's buffet style where they recycle the same food over and over. […] You can't get in to the nicer restaurants for the first 2 days as you need a reservation two days in advance. The pools are dirty with mirky unclean water. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable. The hotel itself is very BEAUTIFUL!!! It looks almost like a palace, with the interior decorated with hints of old spanish decor. The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. Also the cleaning lady who cleaned or room was very NICE to us, especially to our children she made animals out of towels and left them on our beds for […] them. The food at the FIVE restaurants were delicious, and filling. There is NO WAY that you could be HUNGRY @ this hotel as there were 3 that were all u can eat for LUNCH, and 2 for DINNER. Plus during the day u got snacks which included sandwiches, hotdogs, nachos, muffins, fruit. etc. Drinks were also included alcohol and non-alchol. "Warning! Read before booking this resort!"
OK, we came in Friday afternoon.....the first thing we did was make a reservation for dinner in one of the restraunts. It was not possible because they said we had to make the reservation 2 days prior. Wtf! the bed covers had stains on it like they don't wash it. Had blood smudges on it. Still looking fresh! The resort is super packed. They buss in thousands […] of locals for dirt cheap to fill in the empty rooms. So its super crowded. All the retraunts and buffets have no tables to sit at. The pools are so crowded the water is cloudy. No lounge chairs available. No towels at the pool. On top of that, I felt unsafe. This group of local guys asked me and my cousin how much money we make, and started like trying to rub their legs against ours. Then they start taking pics of us without even asking us. I felt so afraid for our life, like they were gonna follow us to our room or something. So finally at the bar, we met great bartenders.but again the locals was the worst part. Another group of locals kept staring at my cousin and I. Then again they start snapping more pics. Wtf is up with locals taking pics! Made me feel like they were trying to put a hit on us!I Regret not paying a little more money to stay at a better resort. For all you reading this, please go someplace else. Pay the money and avoid this crap. Stay somewhere where you would feel safe on vacation. You really don't want to be around thousands of locals. You are on vacation, not visiting tiajuana! Hotel very clean and small enough that you don't have to go far to your room. Beach is flat and nice for walking. I'm sure there are tons of people peeing in the pool. Lots of drinks are being served and you don't see people getting out to go to the bathroom. The food was not very good, lots of it but not very tasty. The shows at night are fun. The […] nightclub had great music on one night and the music was horrible the next night. I was only there for 2 nights, which was perfect to relax but I would not have wanted to be stuck out there for a week. It's far from Puerto Vallarta and anything else for that matter. I was also there over Spring Break and they don't have enough lounge chairs for all the guests when the hotel is full. I got to the pool at 11 am and there was not 1 chair left to lay on. I also left my old sandals by the pool to go for a walk on the beach and someone stole them! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent for Families"
The hotel was beautiful. A slightly longer walk from the hotel to beach than other hotels in the area. There were quite a few children and the resort seemed to be very friendly to the smaller folks. The food in the restaurants that require reservations was excellent, but make sure to make the reservations the day you get there or there may be no room. One […] strange thing about the room was that there was no door to the bathroom. This made changing a bit challenging. Also, there was plastic on the beds (which I'm sure for some is necessary) but made sleeping slightly uncomfortable. I couldn't speak more highly of the staff. All seemed genuinely happy to be there. "rui Jalisco hotel needs management"
My kids and I had a great time because we will have a great time anywhere in spite of the following issues which can be pretty big any time but especially on vacation in Mexico. The beds were so bad even my limber kids had bach aches. the pillows were like cinder blocks and those are the soft ones we requested after the first night. How about no doors […] or the bathroom. In forty years of staying in hotels all over the world that is a first. Very strange to be in Mexico and the resort doesn't have corn tortillas. Only gross flour ones. Most nights the pica de gallo would run out and it would take constant requests to get them to prepare more. Same goes for the guacamole. The beach toys , such as the boogie boards, were so limited that my kids had to wait by the rental house for over a half hour most days to wait for others to bring them back. Overall it was the type of place that could be great if management could be aware of what people come there for. such as hoping there would be enough pool chairs for the guests. It's really no fun to go someplace and feel as though you have to be a complainer. After going to different places in Mexico for over 30 years you understand that things will not be as they could be but this hotel seemed to have more of those things than need be. but like I said we made the best of it and had a great trip. After all we go for the beach, the waves and the sunshine and those were at full force. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
