Very nicely equipped apartments with A+ service and a very good location, close to the Edinburgh castle and Royal Mile. Only drawbacks were construction next door (which does provide a beautiful view of the castle for the time being) and the fact that it is in the strip club district (didn't bother me, but it might others). All in all, I highly recommend staying here.

The hotel was the best of both worlds in that it had the service and staffing that you would expect at a small hotel with the comfort, space and independence of an apartment. There were a lot of nice little touches including names on buzzers outside hotel so that take-aways can be delivered to your apartment door (takeaway menus included)! Dishwasher, Washing Machine, DVD player, 2 flat screen tvs, CD player and music / videos to borrow.....Cereals, bread, butter, milk, fruit juice is also included even though it is meant to be "room only".

A wonderful surprise awaited when I arrived to find a lovely apartment waiting for me. Based in the "Old Town" part of the city it is a fantastic location for nearby restaurants of the highest standards if you want to eat out rather than use the fully fitted kitchen. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Couldn't fault it - except that as a smoker there are no smoking rooms although provision is made in the rear car park. A little jewel in Edinburgh's crown at a good price.

I took my family to edinburgh for a 2 night break and it was my daughter Eva's first trip away as she is 6 months. From the first step of booking the hotel, I was in contact with the Concierge desk who could not be more helpful. They organised a babysitter for one of the nights, who made us feel very comfortable leaving our daughter with her. Thay also organised a cot for the room and a pushchair for our personal use in the duration of our stay (At no Extra cost). On arrival at the hotel which is not in the most of selubrious areas! (however do not let this put you off) We were taken to our appartment which was the two bedroom,It was fantastically equiped with all mod cons, very clean and very comfortable a home away from home! The hotel is well situated and all areas of Edingburgh are easily accessable (in walking distance) anf the staff are absolutely fantastic, we will look to return in the summer.

Had a lovely weekend in Edinburgh - staying in an apartment gave us the freedom to feel at home, having breakfast when we wanted and the use of separate living space. The concierge was very welcoming and informative, the beds were very comfy, apartment was clean & well heated and the provisions for breakfast lasted the whole weekend. Well located close to castle and 5 mins walk from grassmarket which has a good range of pubs and restaurants. Although it is situated close to two bars we didn't hear any noise throughout the night and felt v. safe. My only criticism would be that the decor is becoming a bit old and dated.

I was a little nervous when I first found the hotel as it was in a quiet area located near three 'strip' clubs. However the hotel is a five star hotel and was extremely pleasant, with no problems from people frequenting the 'clubs'. In fact, after we checked in I never thought abou the 'clubs' again. The hotel is located in a quiet area so there is not a lot of street noise. Also it is located very near to the Grassmarket (5 min walk) were you can pick up tour buses or find your way easily into the city center. The hotel is more like luxory apartments than a hotel, as the staff leaves at 11pm and returns at 7am the following morning. You have a key to get into the secure building and into your room. The rooms were very clean and they provided various foods for breakfast in our own full kitchen. We also had a washer/dryer in the kitchen. The tv had hundreds of channels and the front desk even had some of the newest movie releases to 'rent' (free of charge) as long as we stayed. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and advice. It was truly a wonderful place to stay and we will be staying there again when we return to Edinburgh! It was a like a home away from home!

The Knights Residence is much nicer than an ordinary hotel. My wife and I only had a few days in Edinburgh, but I would definitely stay at the Knights Residence again. It was very comfortable and a great location. It was great having a bedroom, a living room with a small dinning area, and a kitchen. It allows you to spread out and relax. The manager pointed out a local grocery store where we picked up a few items to eat in our apartment. The location was very nice since it was only a short walk to the Edinburgh castle. My minor complaint was the washer/dryer unit. Since the washer/dryer unit is one machine, you can't wash one load while drying another. This definitely limits the amount of laundry you can do in an evening. The machine was also a bit confusing to use. We had to ask for instruction on how to run the dryer. We did discover the instruction pack under the kitchen sink and those manuals helped clear up a few things about the washer/dryer controls (such as the built-in door lock that can take up to two minutes before releasing so you can't just walk up to the machine and open it when you want to). The kitchen has a lot of room, so I would prefer to see a stacked washer with a separate dryer on top to replace the single washer/dryer unit. I would also add some suitcase stands to each apartment. Getting the suitcases off the floor would be helpful.

The Knight Residence was a very good value. the staff was attentive, the apartment was clean and well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. The only negatives I would have are location: several "gentleman's clubs" in the immediate vicinity could be a problem with small children. The neighbohood tended to be noud at night. The location, while very close to Grass market and the Castle, could be a problem, again, if a family with small children were staying. That being said we loved the experience. Close to Pubs, breakfast places, and bus tour stops (at the base of the Castle). I would recommend and consider again once you get the lay of the land.

The beds are comfortable. The rooms are scrupulously clean and well cared for. There is free off-street parking for guests with cars. Breakfast fixings are included in the room rate and are found in the full kitchen. The folks staffing the concierge desk are wonderful, informative and helpful. You will feel very welcome. On the down side, there are massive roadworks in Edinburgh at the moment as the city labors to install a trolley network. The customer service was absolutely unsurpassed - our apartment was supplied with breakfast for the first morning, detergent for the dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer, a fully equipped kitchen, an infant care pack, and an activity pack and teddy bears for our children. A staff member took us personally into the apartment, gave us a detailed map of Edinburgh, and showed us good walking routes to all the major destinations as well as to local grocery stores and pharmacies. The location was excellent - with easy walking to the Grassmarket, Castle, Royal Mile, Princes Street, etc. The apartment was extremely spacious - with closets in every room, a coat closet, a linen closet, a large living room and separate kitchen. Furnishings were tasteful and functional. We felt very safe, with secure (and free!) parking for our vehicle. DVD and book libraries are available, as well as a friendly concierge service.
