"Great staff, and very good value for family stay."
Superb staff and service. Safe and secure. Excellent location and transportation/walking options. Sheets on beds didn't fit, shower a bit tight but I'm 6'5" tall. Overall: exceeded expectations are very good value.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Home away from home"
I am glad I choose Knight Residence, great location, friendly staff members and comfortable stay made our trip memorable. I shall defintely recommend our friends and family to choose Knight Residence whenever they are in Edinburgh. We would like to come back again for a family holiday, because Knight Residence treated us so well.Thank you;)Genuine Expedia guest review
What a cool place. We got a 2 bedroom apartment. There was milk in the frig, cereal and a loaf of bread in the kitchen. It was clean. It is a good location but there are two strip clubs next store. There was no noise pouring out of them. They were just there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle"
The hotel was wonderful with excellent service. It was difficult to find initially and the GPS had us going in circles several times before we finally saw a sign for the hotel parking lot. We were there with our three kids so weren't thrilled about the strip club two doors down. However, the apartment was very comfortable with every amenity we could […] possibly need. "Excellent Scottish hospitality."
Location in Old Town on Castle end of Royal Mile next to GrassMarket at the base of the Castle. Surrounding establishments include small Sansibury grocery store, small shops and bars. The bars are active to early morning period and their patrons are generally quiet. Access to from Railway station is taxi ride at 5 GPB or 15 - 20 minute walk. Access […] to airport is by taxi at 20 GPB, Airlink Bus at 3.5 GBP (St Johns stop and 10 minute walk), or local bus at 1.5 GBP. We found location acceptable and would use it as a base again. Accommodations allow flexible eating arrangements similar to conveniences of home. Electronics include flat screen TVs, DVD with complementary room selection and Hotel library at 1GBP, and audio system. Chairs, sofas and bed are comfortable. In room safe is easy to use with volume for papers and portable electronics. The staff makes you feel at home in your apartment including your name on the front door as well as on the entrance to the building. Excellent Scottish hospitality. The Knights Residence is lovely, comfortable, and has a wonderful staff. It was fairly conveniently located. However, I did not like being in an area surrounded by strip bars/clubs, including one 2 doors down. Lots of signs about lap dancing, & more. I doubt that I would have chosen it had I known about the many strip bars. Of course, that could be an […] appeal for some people. "Great place and staff"
Very clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the staff are amazing! It is only about 3 blocks to grass market, a little farther to the Castle. Taxis are cheap and the front desk can have one to you within a minute or two at the most. A great place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great apartment disguised as a hotel."
We arrived at 9:00 to find our name on the door and the room ready which was greatly appreciated since we had been traveling all night without sleep. Further the room was stocked with enough food for a decent breakfast. The "room" is actually a small apartment with all of the modern appliances you would expect of one, including dish washer, cloths washer […] and dryer. There was a free internet connection in the room and in case you forgot a computer, there was one in the hall. The staff is terrific, they helped with all sorts of questions and provided everything we asked for. There is a good grocery store around the corner. The only down sides were, a bit noisy at night though closing the windows silenced that. It was a 15 minute walk to the Edinburgh Castle. In short, a great place to stay for anyone, especially if you like kitchen and laundry in a large modern and clean apartment. If we are ever back in Edinburgh, we will stay here. "Nicely located in Edinburgh..."
This hotel is pleasing if you get a good rate. We had a problem with the hot water... and it was literally that, the hot water. Our first day and a half was 'hell' as there was only hot water in our shower. The next day the manager went up to our room and adjusted the internal mechanism in our shower head to allow more cold water in the mix (very odd.) […] Other than this 'burning' detail, the hotel is comfortable and well situated. I must warn you that it's location is withing a few yards from 3 'lap dance' establishments; but then it's also within a few yards from the Grassmarket area, right below the castle. There are plenty of nice restaurants within the area. Be aware that there is not a restaurant within the hotel; but you have a full kitchen to bring stuff from the store, which is a 30 second walk from the place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful spacious apartments"
Save for an ongoing problem with the washer/dryer in our apartment, we thoroughly enjoyed every other aspect of our four-night stay at the Knight Residence. Our one-bedroom "comfort" apartment was located in the annex, very quiet and removed from Edinburgh's hustle and bustle during festival and Tattoo season. Service was gracious and attentive (many […] thanks especially to Kevin and Chris), and the generous welcome basket that awaited us fufilled our breakfast needs. our family of 3 were able to have more room here, including a kitchen than a traditional hotel, we utilized the pull-out couch. Charlie brought up the linens, pillows and extra towels, robes shortly after our check-in when we informed him our son would also be staying with us. The surrounding strip-bars were not a problem. "Really awesome place! Stayed the week, loved it."
My family and I have stayed at some of the nicest hotels in the world, and I can honestly say that The Knight Residence was one of the more pleasurable places we have ever stayed. Great location, great service, nicely appointed apartments with full kitchen. Location is right in the heart of Edinburgh, a truly magnificent city, front desk was helpful, […] knowledgable, and made our stay effort-free. We have two kids under 13, and we had plenty of space to stretch our legs and enjoy the comfort of this "home away from home" kinda place. I don't write reviews very often, but this place is awesome. "PLEASANT ACCOMODATIONS WITH A FANTASTIC FRONT DESK"
This is a wonderful hotel mainly due to the front desk staff. Chris, Charlie, Kevin and Collin were all amazing, super friendly, attentive and informative. They were always willing to help with any and all concerns, issues and questions. The location is great. Two female travelers and we never felt unsafe in the area. Enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen […] due to a limited diet since cancer and I was so happy to find great food supplies close - even a nice farmer's market on Saturday. I highly recommend this hotel to any and all as Edinburgh was an amazing city and so much was within walking (we like to walk a lot) but still a great deal to see near. Only had a few maid issues but the helpful amazing front desk always resolved the lack of something or incomplete issues. I would say this was one of my favorite hotels to stay. There are three strip clubs and a sex shop right next to the hotel. The neighborhood is sketchy/seedy. I would not bring my kids here. The hotel workers, however, are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to families of four visiting the city. The location is close to the Royal Mile while being in a night life district. It is a short walk to the Castle, near great restaurants and a short walk to the Scottish National Museum, a must see for families with kids. An all around great experience. The apartment was immaculately clean and very comfortable; and the front desk staff were invariably helpful with advice and tips. "Fit for a Queen"
I cannot say enough good things to say about the Knights Residence. We were weary travelers who had missed our connection from London to Edinburgh, so we had to drive to Edinburgh, a scary experience after a long flight. We arrived very late. We asked where the nearest place […] to find a drink and the concierge bought us the a couple of bottles of those little wines. THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC! "Great apartment in Edinburgh"
We had a great stay here. Charlie was extremely welcoming and helpful. The apartment was spacious: a good-sized kitchen, living room with two couches and a television, two bathrooms (one with a shower stall, one with a tub/shower) and two bedrooms--one with twin beds where our two children slept, and one with a double/queen. The kitchen had been stocked […] with some breakfast food items, and there were plenty of fresh towels. Free WI-FI worked well. Location was great too--Edinburgh is pretty walkable in general but the Knight Residence is just a short walk to the Grassmarket, and from there just a bit farther to the Royal Mile, etc. There is a grocery nearby as well. We didn't really use the kitchen for cooking but it was well-stocked with the basics and we had breakfast in the apartment each morning. There was a dishwasher as well. Only two downsides: 1) The washing machine did not work properly. This was disappointing as we were in Edinburgh for the second half of our UK trip and had accumulated enough dirty laundry so that it would have been nice to do some wash. It was a combined washer/dryer unit which seemed to wash the clothes fine, but then they stayed damp no matter how long we left it running. We ended up having to give a load of damp clothes to the housekeeper just to get them dry. 2) The shower stall was TINY, and the bathroom it was in was pretty cramped overall. Everything was spotless and worked properly, etc, but be prepared for a tight space! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel is more than a room, it is an experience. When we arrived our concierge showed us to our apartment which was personalized with our name on the door. He showed us everything in the suite of rooms, including the surround sound and satellite sports channels for my husband. Great service, great apartment. The Knight Residence gets glowing reviews, except for the fact that it's located in a bit of a dicey neighborhood. "Knight Residence Aparthotel, Edinburgh"
Just returned from a 6 day stay at the Knight Residence Aparthotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. We loved our apartment. It was a 5 minute walk to everything in the old town of Edinburgh. We were out early in the morning and late at night and never felt unsafe. The folks running the hotel could not have been more accomodating. They helped us book 2 great […] tours of the highlands (rabbies -- I highly recommend it). They set us up with extra bedding when we had friends come in to visit for 2 days as well as parking. The apartment itself had two large bedrooms and two good sized bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked and the living room comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. "Great apartment in old Edinburgh"
This hotel is a jewel in Edinburgh if you want to get away from hotel rooms. It's a couple blocks from the Grasshopper area of the old part of the city, with a Sainsbury Local just around the corner. A newer building, it's well appointed. It was nice to get a break from traditional hotel rooms with a 2 bedroom condo. Still some good restaurants nearby […] for dinner, but you can take a break for breakfast and lunch at restaurants with the condo. "Excellent accommodations in Edinburgh."
The was one of the best places I've stayed anywhere. The accommodation was a small apartment with a full kitchen, living area, and we had 2 bedrooms, and 2 bath. The price was very reasonable. The location was just a couple of blocks from the Royal Mile and Grassmarket. When I looked at the neighborhood on Googlemaps I was a little concerned because […] there are a couple of strip bars nearby. Truthfully, we walked by them multiple times everyday. If anything they added to the ambience. The neighborhood is actually very ritzy. It was very safe to walk around in, day or night. The staff at the Knight Residence were extremely nice and helpful. The concierge greeted us by name when we arrived. They had a great breakfast basket full of cereals, etc. There was milk in the fridge and bread in the breadbox. Our name was even on the door! "A Home in Scotland"
This is the PERFECT place to stay in Edinburgh--within easy walking distance to Old Town and most important sites. The apartment is modern, clean, and comfortable with a flat screen tv in every bedroom and the livingroom. Everything you could possibly need is provided including heated mirrors and towel bars. The only exception is face cloths which can […] be purchased in the basement machine--2 for a pound. A grocery store is just around the corner, but you will have a basket of breakfast items included so you do not need to shop right away. The washer/dryer will clean small loads but is not very efficient for drying them. Don't plan on doing all of your laundry. You will need to hang things to dry. There is also free wireless and a selection of DVD's/CD's on hand. The people who work there are helpful and friendly--listen to their restaurant recommendations--especially Two Thin Laddies and the Italian one with award-winning ice cream! Do NOT be put off by the "lap dancing" and "strip" places you pass on the way to the grocery store. Not once did we two single women receive any unwanted attention when we walked past them nightly. There are no really offensive images that would negatively affect children--just signs. I was a bit leary of others' claims that it was a safe area until I stayed there for almost two weeks. Take a side trip to the Highlands. We used the company close to the entrance to the castle on the right and were not disappointed. We also took a train to York. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Even better the second time"
My second stay here. After being on a 7 hour red-eye flight, I wanted to have a large space to re-adjust for the first few days of vacation. The parking behind the building is very secure. We stayed in unit 19 on the 5th floor. Very clean throughout. There were two separate bedrooms, one with twin beds, one with a double bed. The living room had two […] french doors opening to the back courtyard, so we had a clear view of our car. Each room had a window as did the kitchen, situated on the front of the building. This created a wonderful cross breeze through the bedrooms. Everyone slept very well and awoke refreshed the next morning - something not often experienced on the first night of a hotel stay. A selection of breakfast cereals, milk, juice, toast and condiments were provided and we had access to a grocery store just around the corner. Edinborough Castle is located about a 8-10 minute walk from the hotel, provided that you can handle several flights of steps since it does sit on top of a hill. The walk along W. Port street which flows into Grass Market Square (GMS) is very enjoyable, with several old book stores, coffee houses, art and rare print shops. It's also great to have several restaraunts/pubs at the GMS, within a short walk. We felt quite comfortable walking at night, and even decided to extend our stay to 3 nights, using the Knight as our "home" base. Two thumbs, way up! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
