"I expected more"
As for 3 stars hotel I expected more. It was good at first sight, but then it wasn't good. One very slow elevator, bathroom wasn't clean enough, it was very cold in the room. I wanted to use business center to print coupon, but I had to buy a piece of paper first. Breakfast was poor and disappointing. Croissants, cupcakes, coffee and tea. That's all. […] That is really good about this hotel is location and parking right across the street. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"decent price, good location"
For NYC I set my expectations pretty low for quality of hotel, fortunately Stanford exceeded my expectations. Staff was friendly, great locations (subway a few doors down, 1 block away from Empire State Building, 2 blocks from Penn Station). The bed and sheets were very clean, the bathroom was clean, the rest of the room was not so clean. The furniture […] and carpet looked like it was from the 80's (not in the cool retro sort of way), it was scraped up, and seemed a bit grimy, especially the hideaway-bed/couch. We stayed in a King room, which was very spacious, something I was not expecting in NYC. The place also had a feint hint of cigarette smoke, but we mostly masked that by buying an air freshener from down the block at CVS. Overall it was better than other places I have stayed in NYC, I would probably stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel, close to Madison Square Garden"
Staff was great, room was beautiful, they had upgraded us from a Queen to a King for free. Would definitely stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
All requests were met and while the hotel is undergoing renovations, there is little noise and disruptions (at least in the floor I stayed in). The elevator was under repair/maintenance for two days-in-a-row for several hours each day. The service elevator was made available but as there is only a single elevator to begin with, the delays were considerable […] at times. This is a 12 or so storey property, so walking up/down the stairs can be a little bothersome. Good wifi for a US hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel in a great location."
We had a large, clean room. The elevator did not work well and the internet service they provide for free is not good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overall hotel comments"
Good but a bit put off by the fellow on the desk who was rather adamant when we asked about a late checkout until 2 pm. Don't know his name but he needs more practice with people skills. Other than that we were more than satisfied with our stay even though it was not as close to everything as we were last time when we were in New York.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A bed and a bathroom"
All we really needed for this trip was a bed and a bathroom. This hotel met those needs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel and service"
This hotel is right in the middle of everything. The staff are really nice and helpful. The self parking across the street is very expensive, it cost me 40 Dollars along with the voucher from the hotel for overnight for a Tahoe. The breakfast is very basic pastries, coffee and juices.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and Comfortable"
This hotel is really cute and conveniently located near New York Penn Station and the mall. My room had a mini fridge and was gorgeous, clean, and really quiet even though it was on the 3rd floor. There were flashing billboards across the street at night, but the blackout curtains blocked them out, so I was able to sleep pretty well. The maid entered […] my room while I was away even though I hung up the do not disturb sign, but she did a great job cleaning my room and the Bath & Body Works shampoo and conditioner were a nice touch. The hotel also held my luggage for free after I checked out, which was nice because a few other hotels that I called in New York were charging to hold luggage after check-out. They also serve a complimentary breakfast, but I can't comment on the food because I was always gone when it was being served. FYI, the hotel will place a hold on your credit card during your stay just in case there are any incidental expenses, but it goes away after a few days. Also, don’t use the bathroom near the hotel lobby; the one in your room will be much nicer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, fantastic staff"
Great location if you want to see a lot of different sites of the city. Subway station is close by. The staff was exemplary. I wish we had more time for the second floor lounge, a great place to relax during the day. One drawback is the continental breakfast is not as good as it could be but the service there is also highly attentive.Genuine Expedia guest review
If they can only renovate all the rooms and actually have a real breakfast I would stay again. No major problems! Good area nice staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, convenient mid town location."
Helpful, courteous friendly staff. Convenient location near Empire State Bldg and subway station. Discounted parking directly across the street. Comfortable room and beds with updated bathroom. Complimentary breakfast underwhelming, but free breakfast is a nice way to start day in nyc.Genuine Expedia guest review
Perfect location in the center of everything! Staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy. WOuld absolutely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good Central Location in Mid Town Manhattan"
The best thing about this hotel is its location. Close access to subway stations and walking distance to many of the city's attractions. The room itself is adequate. Small but clean. Ours had no view but a brick wall of the neighboring building. The continental breakfast was bagels, coffee, juice, apples. I when with my son and the room was okay.Genuine Expedia guest review
I love this hotel, the front desk staff were so helpful and polite, the rooms were very clean, and it's right in the middle of everywhere, would def stay here again , and the price can't be beat !!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Stanford Highly Recommended"
I found the Hotel Stanford to be conveniently located just 2 blocks from Penn Station and 1/2 block from the subway, in New York City. Hotel Stanford offers a unique stay at in a building with quaint early 20th century Architecture, a nice change from the "Cookie Cutter " design you see in big name hotels. a modest free breakfast is offered in the morning […] consisting of mostly Bagels, doughnuts, muffins and fruit. Nobody likes a bartender you can't have a conversation with, and at the Hotel Stanford you will not be disappointed by the Bar Keep. A young Korean Intern with a penchant for good conversation will not disappoint you and will toss a little cultural exchange for an experience you would normally have to travel abroad for. The Hotel cleaning staff is attentive, and very polite. All in all, this place may not have the amenities that a 5 star hotel would offer, but for a budgeted traveler, it is the the place to stay while in New York City Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Hotel Stanford! The location is perfect(Penn station is 3 blocks away and Empire State building is around the corner!), the front desk staff are friendly, and the room was nice and comfortable. The complimentary continental breakfast was also very convenient because that eliminates an extra expense on food. I […] also enjoyed having a drink at the bar/lounge called EST 1986. All of the good reviews that I had read about this hotel were true and I'm glad that I chose Hotel Stanford! I definitely plan on staying here next time I come to Manhattan! "Good deal for the price"
I had a pre-paid reservation through Hotels.com, and the price was significantly less than the "rack rate" listed on the hotel's web site. The hotel is very conveniently located near a subway station. The neighborhood is pretty typical for NYC - noisy and crowded. The staff was very friendly, and checking in and out was a breeze. I had booked a room […] with a queen bed, and without asking I was offered a free upgrade to a room with a king size bed. I was told the room was significantly larger, but since I never saw the other room I have no basis for comparison. The room had a couch, desk and desk chair in addition to a king-sized bed. The room was clean, with one exception being that it looked as if the carpet needed a good vacuuming. The bed was comfortable. And the air conditioning worked fine, although I could not lower the temperature below 68 degrees even though there were two adjustable thermostats in the room. The bathroom was clean, there were plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc. The water pressure and hot water were fine. The lighting was adequate and OK for reading. The room had a small fridge and a pitcher of water and ice cubes, which was nice. Apart from the carpet, the only negative was that, because of the configuration of the furniture and the room, it was necessary to sit on the couch to watch TV. You could not watch TV while lying in bed. I would definitely consider staying there again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Friendly staff and convenient location"
The hotel was conveniently located to go around New York City. It is almost at the center of Manhattan, so cab costs are not too expensive for the main spots to see. walk able from empire state building. It's just a few steps away from a subway station and couple blocks away from Penn station. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. We got a […] free upgrade to an executive suite, so the room was nice and spacious. The room and bed were clean & the bathroom was very neat (might have been remodeled recently). The complementary breakfast was decent, not many options if you are not a bagel eater. Would surely recommend a friend to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient, Safe, and Friendly Midtown Hotel"
I personally was pleasantly surprised when it became obvious the Hotel was build before 1986, as I enjoy older architecture. The Hotel offered everything I needed for my most recent stay in New York City. There is easy subway access and Penn station is 2 blocks away. If needed, you would not need to walk far for any restaurant, shopping, or personal […] needs as there is a CVS 1 block away. 32nd street by the Hotel is all Korean restaurants, however, a block or two away offer other choices. The Standard Queen room is good sized by New York City standards with a room large enough for the bed, a desk, refrigerator, and ample space for your luggage. The room also offered a nice size bathroom with window and a small walk in closet with safe. My room over looked a brick wall in an interior corridor, however, with Hurricane Andrew in North Carolina and it's path unknown, I decided this would be the best option should the storm not go out to sea. The continental breakfast is convenient should you get up that early. The bed and linens are very comfortable. The Hotel staff in my experience is friendlier than most, if possible, always a greeting, even the maids offered to help with a question. I am sure if I had a request or issue it would have been addressed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Visit to NYC"
Overall the hotel is very historic but overall nice, especially for the size of rooms and for the price. The location of the hotel is in Little Korea which is not as nice but was safe. There are tons of places to eat and its right by a subway spot. Its just down the street from Empire State Bldg and walking distance to times square, Rockefeller ctr. […] The room had 2 beds and a sofa which did not pull out but was adequate for our child. It even had a small fridge. There is only one old elevator which is slow so might want to take the stairs. There is a small bar on site which was nice. Breakfast is well, muffins and bagels, OJ milk and coffee and you have to eat it downstairs or they will charge you $10. They really need to offer cereal too. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great room. WRONG day"
I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the room. The double bed left some space in the room, which made it look and feel bigger than it actually was; however, it was a double bed. And I knew when booking it would be a tight space for little me and my bigger fiance. We made it work. The bathroom was also a comfortable size, which is rare in value […] midtown Manhattan hotels. Full tub and sink with counter space. Now, we picked the WRONG night to stay in midtown - the day of the NYC Pride Festival. Traffic was horrible. And the hotel may have advertised a special rate on overnight parking nearby, but it wouldn't have mattered even if we were aware (which we were not) because we couldn't get to it. After 2 hours of sitting in traffic and negotiating detours, we parked several blocks away for a higher rate for the evening. I wish something could have been worked out, but alas... Lesson learned, money spent, moving on. Overall, a good stay. Hotel Stanford is NOT one of those hotels that makes your vacation or travel to NYC... In my opinion, one would stay there for the convenience of the location to other things and merely rest your head at night there. We didn't even eat there or enjoy the happy hour. And breakfast started AFTER we left to catch an early train. However, bonus points for providing free wifi access in the rooms. I am still boggled by how many hotels don't offer this. good location. Very unmoderned room. Some rooms face a near by building wall, 10 feet away.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was overall surprised by this hotel. I chose it based on price and location. It was affordable and near all the subway and shopping. The down side were the general area is a bit sketchy and it appears to get a high level of tourist guests. The lobby area is awful and breakfast was a joke. skip it. its still worth it. The room was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Midtown Location!"
We stayed at the Hotel Stanford for three nights. The hotel has a great location in midtown, steps away from a main north/south subway line and easy access to head uptown or downtown. The Empire State Building and Penn Station are only one block away. We were able to walk to and from Penn Station with our wheeled luggage with no problem. I found the […] staff helpful, friendly and responsive. There was only one pillow per twin bed when we arrived, but after requesting more pillows, they were delivered to our room quickly. We did end up with a clogged toilet one evening and someone came right up to fix it for us. We had a third floor room with two twin beds that had no view. The view wasn't important as we were only in the room to sleep and the rest of the time, we were out enjoying the city. I did find the twin bed a bit uncomfortable as I woke up with back pain I normally don't have. The hotel could improve its breakfast offering. If you are gluten intolerant, the Hotel Stanford breakfast is not for you. They offered bagels, mini croissants, and muffins. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"a pleasant stay"
I booked the room solely based on it being within alking distance of the 35th street ferry. we were not expecting it to be so lovely. when we arrived the staff was efficient and friendly, and offered us an upgrade that was very reasonably priced. our room was clean comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful! the only thing that could be criticized was […] the room's only window was on an alley, so there was not only no view, which was not a concern, but it made the room very dark. "A clean hotel a short walk from Penn Station"
We enjoyed the clean and quiet room, quite nicely decorated. The view wasn't much to write home about unless you happen to be a brick mason, but it was enough to allow fresh air and indirect light in. The staff were very nice and kept our bags stored securely all afternoon. The breakfast basic continental but enough to get you started. The hotel is […] in a busy location and there was a substantial amount of scaffolding in front as work is in progress, but can't blame the hotel for that. Access to subways is close by. "Great location; clean room."
Great location - 1 block west of Penn Station at the foot of Korea Way. We stayed for one night midweek in a "junior suite" -- was very clean and quiet. Only small quibbles: the included breakfast is danish/donuts and coffee only, and the single elevator is small and slow. But overall a good experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We arrived to meet a welcoming and helpful staff. The room and bathroom were small but clean. The first night the AC was not working properly until early morning so the room was very warm. "Korea Town & the Crowds"
The hotel is certainly VERY central to the "action" and the staff has the solicitous, service-oriented nature of the best Asian hotels I've stayed at. While the room was clean, the room furniture was dated and scuffed, the bed linens were a bit shoddy and the room was quite small. The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little dated but the rooms are quite nice. "Staff were very very nice! But room was not much."
As the title shows, front desk and the bell person who takes care of your luggages, all were nice. However, I have two main issues with the room itself. #1, the bed was old. I can feel the spring popping up here and there, which forced me to sleep in a very awkward way. #2, there were absolutely no power outlet in the room! you have desk, lamps, etc. at […] this day and age, you will probably have mobile device and laptop PC you would like to get powered. There were absolutely none! I needed to charge in the bathroom to charge my laptop PC underneath the hair dryer. That was the only thing I found in the room. This is ridiculous. "Overpriced and terrible rooms"
For $300 a night this was one of the worst Hotels I ever stayed at. They have one Elevator that took forever to pick you up and it smelled like a can of bug spray. The window faced a brick wall and was the size of my closet. The Internet did not work in my 2 night stay. The TV only worked for a total 5 hours and was fuzzy. The last day the entire hotel […] did not have any TV. I had to go to the Radisson hotel to watch a NHL game. The toilet had a constant leak and you will hear dripping water all night. "Great little hotel!"
Overall, we had an excellent stay. Our room was small, but that was fine for just the 2 of us. The staff were very friendly and helpful; they greeted us each time we came back to the hotel, and they even gave us a map! The only "bad" points (and I say it like that because I think they are minor) were that one of the light bulbs over the bathroom vanity […] was missing and one of them in the wall sconces was out (but honestly, the rooms were well-lit anyways! It was just something we noticed), the firm bed (but I loved the pillows!), and the lack of outlets. But it's an older building, so I wasn't surprised. I was able to plug in my phone under the desk, so that was good. And now for the good and/or surprising parts! We had an easy-to-use safe, which was handy. There was also a mini-fridge! That was super-useful! I enjoyed the free breakfast as well (I just wish it went later than 10am. But that's because I'm not a morning person! ;) ). Like I already said, the staff were wonderful. We were able to adjust the heat in our room to a comfortable level (we like it cool when we sleep). I think I read on here that some people couldn't get a comfortable temperature? I don't know how my boyfriend did it, but he figured it out when we first entered the room! By that night, it was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay right in KTown! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
