"Friendly staff and convenient location"
The hotel was conveniently located to go around New York City. It is almost at the center of Manhattan, so cab costs are not too expensive for the main spots to see. walk able from empire state building. It's just a few steps away from a subway station and couple blocks away from Penn station. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. We got a […] free upgrade to an executive suite, so the room was nice and spacious. The room and bed were clean & the bathroom was very neat (might have been remodeled recently). The complementary breakfast was decent, not many options if you are not a bagel eater. Would surely recommend a friend to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient, Safe, and Friendly Midtown Hotel"
I personally was pleasantly surprised when it became obvious the Hotel was build before 1986, as I enjoy older architecture. The Hotel offered everything I needed for my most recent stay in New York City. There is easy subway access and Penn station is 2 blocks away. If needed, you would not need to walk far for any restaurant, shopping, or personal […] needs as there is a CVS 1 block away. 32nd street by the Hotel is all Korean restaurants, however, a block or two away offer other choices. The Standard Queen room is good sized by New York City standards with a room large enough for the bed, a desk, refrigerator, and ample space for your luggage. The room also offered a nice size bathroom with window and a small walk in closet with safe. My room over looked a brick wall in an interior corridor, however, with Hurricane Andrew in North Carolina and it's path unknown, I decided this would be the best option should the storm not go out to sea. The continental breakfast is convenient should you get up that early. The bed and linens are very comfortable. The Hotel staff in my experience is friendlier than most, if possible, always a greeting, even the maids offered to help with a question. I am sure if I had a request or issue it would have been addressed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Visit to NYC"
Overall the hotel is very historic but overall nice, especially for the size of rooms and for the price. The location of the hotel is in Little Korea which is not as nice but was safe. There are tons of places to eat and its right by a subway spot. Its just down the street from Empire State Bldg and walking distance to times square, Rockefeller ctr. […] The room had 2 beds and a sofa which did not pull out but was adequate for our child. It even had a small fridge. There is only one old elevator which is slow so might want to take the stairs. There is a small bar on site which was nice. Breakfast is well, muffins and bagels, OJ milk and coffee and you have to eat it downstairs or they will charge you $10. They really need to offer cereal too. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great room. WRONG day"
I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the room. The double bed left some space in the room, which made it look and feel bigger than it actually was; however, it was a double bed. And I knew when booking it would be a tight space for little me and my bigger fiance. We made it work. The bathroom was also a comfortable size, which is rare in value […] midtown Manhattan hotels. Full tub and sink with counter space. Now, we picked the WRONG night to stay in midtown - the day of the NYC Pride Festival. Traffic was horrible. And the hotel may have advertised a special rate on overnight parking nearby, but it wouldn't have mattered even if we were aware (which we were not) because we couldn't get to it. After 2 hours of sitting in traffic and negotiating detours, we parked several blocks away for a higher rate for the evening. I wish something could have been worked out, but alas... Lesson learned, money spent, moving on. Overall, a good stay. Hotel Stanford is NOT one of those hotels that makes your vacation or travel to NYC... In my opinion, one would stay there for the convenience of the location to other things and merely rest your head at night there. We didn't even eat there or enjoy the happy hour. And breakfast started AFTER we left to catch an early train. However, bonus points for providing free wifi access in the rooms. I am still boggled by how many hotels don't offer this. good location. Very unmoderned room. Some rooms face a near by building wall, 10 feet away.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was overall surprised by this hotel. I chose it based on price and location. It was affordable and near all the subway and shopping. The down side were the general area is a bit sketchy and it appears to get a high level of tourist guests. The lobby area is awful and breakfast was a joke. skip it. its still worth it. The room was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Midtown Location!"
We stayed at the Hotel Stanford for three nights. The hotel has a great location in midtown, steps away from a main north/south subway line and easy access to head uptown or downtown. The Empire State Building and Penn Station are only one block away. We were able to walk to and from Penn Station with our wheeled luggage with no problem. I found the […] staff helpful, friendly and responsive. There was only one pillow per twin bed when we arrived, but after requesting more pillows, they were delivered to our room quickly. We did end up with a clogged toilet one evening and someone came right up to fix it for us. We had a third floor room with two twin beds that had no view. The view wasn't important as we were only in the room to sleep and the rest of the time, we were out enjoying the city. I did find the twin bed a bit uncomfortable as I woke up with back pain I normally don't have. The hotel could improve its breakfast offering. If you are gluten intolerant, the Hotel Stanford breakfast is not for you. They offered bagels, mini croissants, and muffins. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"a pleasant stay"
I booked the room solely based on it being within alking distance of the 35th street ferry. we were not expecting it to be so lovely. when we arrived the staff was efficient and friendly, and offered us an upgrade that was very reasonably priced. our room was clean comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful! the only thing that could be criticized was […] the room's only window was on an alley, so there was not only no view, which was not a concern, but it made the room very dark. I would surely stay there again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good central location"
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Good sized room, very clean and adequate. Very close to subway Station and easy walking distance to Broadway/Theater District. Lounge/Bar to relax in the evening.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A clean hotel a short walk from Penn Station"
We enjoyed the clean and quiet room, quite nicely decorated. The view wasn't much to write home about unless you happen to be a brick mason, but it was enough to allow fresh air and indirect light in. The staff were very nice and kept our bags stored securely all afternoon. The breakfast basic continental but enough to get you started. The hotel is […] in a busy location and there was a substantial amount of scaffolding in front as work is in progress, but can't blame the hotel for that. Access to subways is close by. "Great location; clean room."
Great location - 1 block west of Penn Station at the foot of Korea Way. We stayed for one night midweek in a "junior suite" -- was very clean and quiet. Only small quibbles: the included breakfast is danish/donuts and coffee only, and the single elevator is small and slow. But overall a good experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel with excellent location."
We arrived to meet a welcoming and helpful staff. The room and bathroom were small but clean. The first night the AC was not working properly until early morning so the room was very warm. The room was comfortable for the rest of the stay. The small refrigerator was not turned on when we arrived so we had to turn it on after discovering that it was […] not cold. We were on the 12th floor and there was no water pressure. Could not rinse soap from hair. The hotel did change our room for us to the 3rd floor and the water pressure was fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Korea Town & the Crowds"
The hotel is certainly VERY central to the "action" and the staff has the solicitous, service-oriented nature of the best Asian hotels I've stayed at. While the room was clean, the room furniture was dated and scuffed, the bed linens were a bit shoddy and the room was quite small. My biggest criticism, however, was the single elevator and the line one […] needed to wait in for the complimentary breakfast. They do have a nice 2nd floor lounge area though where you can avoid the crowds, get free coffee/tea and relax. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to Empire State Bldg."
The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little dated but the rooms are quite nice. "Staff were very very nice! But room was not much."
As the title shows, front desk and the bell person who takes care of your luggages, all were nice. However, I have two main issues with the room itself. #1, the bed was old. I can feel the spring popping up here and there, which forced me to sleep in a very awkward way. #2, there were absolutely no power outlet in the room! you have desk, lamps, etc. at […] this day and age, you will probably have mobile device and laptop PC you would like to get powered. There were absolutely none! I needed to charge in the bathroom to charge my laptop PC underneath the hair dryer. That was the only thing I found in the room. This is ridiculous. "Overpriced and terrible rooms"
For $300 a night this was one of the worst Hotels I ever stayed at. They have one Elevator that took forever to pick you up and it smelled like a can of bug spray. The window faced a brick wall and was the size of my closet. The Internet did not work in my 2 night stay. The TV only worked for a total 5 hours and was fuzzy. The last day the entire hotel […] did not have any TV. I had to go to the Radisson hotel to watch a NHL game. The toilet had a constant leak and you will hear dripping water all night. AC did not work and the windows do not open. Nobody was there to help me flag down a Taxi or assist with luggage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great little hotel!"
Overall, we had an excellent stay. Our room was small, but that was fine for just the 2 of us. The staff were very friendly and helpful; they greeted us each time we came back to the hotel, and they even gave us a map! The only "bad" points (and I say it like that because I think they are minor) were that one of the light bulbs over the bathroom vanity […] was missing and one of them in the wall sconces was out (but honestly, the rooms were well-lit anyways! It was just something we noticed), the firm bed (but I loved the pillows!), and the lack of outlets. But it's an older building, so I wasn't surprised. I was able to plug in my phone under the desk, so that was good. And now for the good and/or surprising parts! We had an easy-to-use safe, which was handy. There was also a mini-fridge! That was super-useful! I enjoyed the free breakfast as well (I just wish it went later than 10am. But that's because I'm not a morning person! ;) ). Like I already said, the staff were wonderful. We were able to adjust the heat in our room to a comfortable level (we like it cool when we sleep). I think I read on here that some people couldn't get a comfortable temperature? I don't know how my boyfriend did it, but he figured it out when we first entered the room! By that night, it was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay right in KTown! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was in perfect pocation in midtown! Just a short, straight walk to new tork penn station. Very close to all eateries and lovely shopping district. Rooms were clean, no smell and clean bathrooms. It was an unexpectedly great experience. Unexpected because the price was so low that I had thought there might be few issues with the room. But I had absolutely […] no problem. "My stay at stanford"
I booked this hotel for two nights and have to switch rooms due to two different bookings. On first night (queen room) it was not good experience at all. Room had a certain smell which was irritating. In room facilities are also very basic. However my experience for the 2nd night was okay and off course it was expensive room (king room).Genuine Expedia guest review
Good location, nice room. One outlet in room, already full not so good, had to unplug clock and or lights to plug in computer and cell phonesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed two nights and loved the location. Room was clean, bed comfortable, water hot and plentiful. The desk people are wonderful. They are super helpful in all matters, friendly, and knowledgeable. The free continental breakfast is a plus and there is a cafe around the corner serving breakfast, lunch and dinner that we enjoyed. There are many Korean […] restaurants in the area, and following the advice of desk staff, we and three friends from Europe, had an excellent meal and unhurried social time at "Miss Saigon" just down the street. Could not give it 5 stars because there is no outlet strip to charge all the electronic gadgets we all have and wall outlets were few and not easily reached. The desk had a comfortable chair and work space, but no outlet. The small fridge was fine for our needs. Wifi is free, but slow. Phone service was fine. Enjoy your stay! The hotel was clean and was in a great location. The service was ok, it was raining and snowing that night and the hotel had 5 umbrellas by the door. "affordable location location location!"
The location was so close to everything... Chelsea to Times Square. The hotel is a boutique hotel, the service was exceptional. The rooms simple and clean. Only disappointment was the bathroom vent--very dusty. This is a good hotel the only big issue I had was how small the shower/tub was.you can't use the tub cause it's so small. You can't even sit in it. I wanted to take a nice long bath but could not. Aside from this good service, good size guest room, clean, and temperature controlled room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a bad experience"
The location and the picture of the hotel convinced me to choose it, but the result was not fully satisfied. The historical style turns out to be a downside of the room. The room is pretty small, and the facilities looks old. The show sounds loud when water came out and only one stream of water! The comforter has strange smell. I give this hotel 3 out […] of 5 because I had a even worse experience in another "historical hotel". I think this is the last time I try something old. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"NIce hotel in the Korean section of New York"
The hotel was a nice location and had an outstanding front desk staff. We had a group of 34 and everyone was well satified with the location and accomodations. We enjoyed the limited continental breakfast and the lounge on the second floor was very inviting. The only negative would be the inability to adjust the room temperature, there were thermostats […] in the rooms but they did little good.
