"Great KL experience for tourists"Reviewed by Heather M of "Monterey, CA" on Apr 10, 2012
This was a great choice for my very quick trip to KL as it put me in the heart of one of the most vibrant districts...Chinatown! My room was on the front of the building and while you can hear the hubbub below, it wasn't enough to keep me from sleeping well. If you are planning to pack tons of luggage or take a taxi to the hotel, this is not the place for you as you will need to walk in from the edges of Chinatown (about 1-1/2 blocks in any direction) due to the mobile stands parked in the middle of the streets and sidewalks selling goods. If you're an adventurous tourist who likes to quickly get to the heart of a city, this is the place for you! Breakfast was great (satisfied both western and eastern appetites), the staff is friendly and helpful in many languages, the room was very nice and comfortable, it's about two or three blocks to a metro station on the main line (going from KL Sentral past most of the sights and out to the fringes), and elevator and free water filling station are small but appreciated perks for the road weary traveler! I would definitely stay here next time I am in KL!

"Good hotel for the price"
It was a good stay for two nights. Overall condition was good for the money. Only thing I noticed was there were visiable mold on bathtub caulking. It looked bad but other than that it was okay.
"average hotel"
The hotel is okay but the service & the cleaning of the room was poor.
"Stay Elsewhere"
Swiss Garden is middling, and barely. Mediocre rooms, the not-quite-where-you-really-want-to-be location, listless staff. This is a tourist hotel (not business) which means the staff doesn't expect you to return and treats you with that in mind. The worst was internet access which dates to circa 1999 even though the hotel was recently renovated. Signing […] on every day required a round of calls, the occasional visit by staff, rebooting the laptop, and checking in with their IT in the Philippines. Simply wanting to check email became an ordeal. The management no doubt feels it can save money by not installing Wi-Fi, but obviously has no qualms about making guests pay -- both in wasted time and money -- for inconvenient and painfully slow internet access. Since they won't spend the money and improve service, internet and otherwise, I'd advise you to spend your ringgit elsewhere. Read more
"Great location and good service"
I was really happy with the service I got during my stay and the location is very good for business
"Not what I expected"
The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent but overall I could not recommend this hotel. The area was not very nice. It was a short walk to the monorail but the sidewalks and surrounding area was not very walker friendly. The hotel was older than expected and overall cleanliness of my room was poor. The mattress was very hard and the […] pillows were lumpy. Read more
"Swiss Garden Hotel KL--not such great value for mo"
The family room provided sufficient space for myself and 2 children. The hotel is well located close to all major attractions. On our second day we returned to the hotel at 3:30 pm after a busy day of sightseeing, wanting to relax a bit before heading out for dinner. The room had not been cleaned. I called housekeeping and spoke directly to the workers […] in the hallway who promised to get it done in the nxt 30 minutes We went for a swim for one hour to rerturn to a room that was still not made up. The breakfast buffet was pretty bare with little choice. I do not feel the hotel has services that match the rates charged. On my next trip to KL, I wll not stay here. Read more
"Rude Staff"
It's not so far from KL twin towers.
"Good place to stay, good value"
Room was pretty clean and comfortable, staff nice and helpful, pretty good location, near downtown and other attractions. Wish some of the other hotels on our trip were this good!
"the swiss garden hotel"
this hotel was in middle of city close to street called times square with alot of shops & bars. area around was run down twin towers where little away but theres monrail system to get around
"Great stay"
We got a family room which was a perfect fit for 2 adults and 2 teens. Breakfast buffet was wonderful, though would have liked a few more Western choices. Walking distance to plenty of shopping. Taxi (always an adventure) or LRT and short walk to twin towers.
"Stay worth the money"
A decent and economical hotel considering their room rates... It isn't luxurious but worth the money..
"Great location and Breakfast Buffet"
This was my first time in Malaysia and had no idea what to expect or where to stay. We wanted something within walking distance to sightseeing and shopping, something reasonably price but still nice and a place with a good breakfast. The Swiss Garden exceeded all our expectations! We could walk to the big malls on one end of town and to Little China […] and Little India on the other side of town. We even walked over to the Bird Park. The buffet was not just breakfast foods, it also had roti with lentils and fried noodles with a variety of meats. Read more
"VERY NICE HOTEL I WILL USE AGAIN!"
Very Nice hotel. Great Buffet Breakfast but not good for your weight control lol! Staff were always on hand and very friendly. BTW there is a Catholic Church within walking distance from the hotel to the left. Be careful most taxi drivers want to negotiate a fare prior to departure. .stick to the meter you will always come out ahead!!! One more tip […] the Express Train to/fm KLIA is by far best method to get into the city. IF flying Malaysian Air you check your bags at the Sentral Station in the city and wala they will be on your flight!! FREE porter service on all trains! Read more

"Swiss Garden in Bukit Bintang KL"
The hotel did not have the type of room we reserved. They first told us they will upgrade us due to the inconvenience but end up changing their mind. We had to fight to get the room we reserved. The last thing you need is headache on a vacation. Hotel was old but location is good. Complimentary buffet breakfast was average. Same food everyday.
"The Hotel"
It was a great opportunity to enjoy staying at the Swiss Garden Hotel. In fact, I and my friends spent a lovely time in Malaysia and one of the things that make our holiday more enjoyable is the facilitates that we have seen in the hotel such as swimming pool and sauna. Of course, apart from very comfortable room.
"Swiss Garden Kuala Lumpur- good and affordable"
The hotel is clean and spacious. All the services are there for the tourist. Taxi service, laudry service, breakfast buffet. We stayed for only a night but it satisfied our needs perfectly. Free car park service under the hotel is a plus.

"Very nice hotel in KL"
Excellent hotel with very helpful staff, a lovely room and great location close to Chinatown and the Central Market. A word of advice however to potentially hungry jet-lagged guests however, avoid the late night room-service as what you order off the menu isn't always what you receive. All in all however, we would recommend this hotel and enjoyed our […] stay. Read more

Overall we really liked the Swiss Garden Hotel. Central location with friendly and service minded staff except the pool guard. The only disappointment was the pool area including the pool guard…
"just ok"
very noisy, seemed like someone was hammering on the room above us and it went on late. would not stay there again.
"Very good value 4 star city hotel"
We stayed at the Swiss Garden on 2 seperate occasions on our trip. We came back as we enjoyed it so much the first time. It really is very good value considering it is a 4 star city hotel. It was the best 4 star hotel we stayed in during our trip.
"Family holiday - KL base"
Good location in Golden Triangle and close to bus station so good for travel to other parts of Malaysia. Stayedin a family room with two bedrooms and one front door - so good for those that are security conscious. It was very clean and spacious with all the facilities you would expect from a 4* hotel.
"Really good hotel and great city location"
Breakfast was great and was included within the room price. Rooms and the entire hotel were very clean, well kept and restaurants were good. Hotel is in a great city location, in close proximity to the night markets, sky tower and only a short taxi from the patronas towers. Only annoyance was the building work going on next door which started quite […] early in the morning. Read more
"Great location"
In excellent postion for shopping and restaurants. Pool is samll and in the shade but handy on hot days. We stayed here at the start and end of our trip and were booked in the superior rooms but the second room was more modern and had street view which the first room didnt. felt the second room was nicer. I reccomend this hotel for your stopover.
"Well Located in Kuala Lumpur"
Hotel is located in KL City, walking distance to Bintang Walk and Berjaya Time Square. Pretty much enjoy the stay. Value for Money.
"A 3 star hotel at best"
We booked this hotel after reading decent reviews on several websites. Having always stayed at Traders hotel previously were a little dubious but wanted to be close to the main shopping area of KL so went ahead with our booking. The swiss Garden Hotel at first glance appears to be all it advertises itself to be. However, our room had a dank musty smell […] about it. There was mould in the bathroom and a leaky hose too. Al requests for maintenance fell on deaf ears. A request for an iron and ironing board was also ignored. Breakfast was OK, but just OK. After speaking to a relative back home about our disappointment she sent an email to the hotel hoping there would be some show of the excellent service they profess to provide. The email wasn't even answered (not even a computer generated acknowledgement!) This was the first and last time we will stay at Swiss Garden Hotel. Traders by Shangri La is the best and we will never stary for there again! Read more
"Nice place with a pool - very good for KL"
Overall this was a really great place to stay in KL and I would happily stay again. Good location. Free shuttle service twice daily - 1 to Towers and 1 at night to China Town Market - good service and handy to use. We had a very nice family room - very spacious with separate room for kids and a balcony outside - very nice and the best part of the hotel. […] Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful (with one or two exceptions). Good breakfast spread (but they need to work out something better for keeping food hotter - eggs beans sausages all bit on the cold side for us). The only down side was a hold up on check-in (with an 8am arrival to KL and no sleep from Paris we had asked for an early check in, but still waited til 12.30pm and needed a few prompts and pushes from tired travellers to make that happen). Also didn't appreciate 2 phone calls when we were trying to sleep (just 2 hours into our nap) - 1. from a taxi driver - who the hell is that? goodbye! and another from reception saying they forgot to get a deposit - sorry your problem not mine - trying to sleep! goodbye! Overall good place - most staff are friendly (particularly the guys at the front who help with bags and drive the shuttles - lovely people. But the hotel and reception staff in particular need to understand what good service means before they actually attempt to deliver it. Read more
"Good high standard hotel (review from Swedish visitor)"
Killer location! Only 5-10 minutes walk from the big shopping malls and the monorail (station Imbi). The hotel has a good, high standard. My room (8th floor) was a bit worn down, but very nice and clean. The service was excellent. On the ground floor you could use Wifi (very fast connection too) in the café if you bought something to drink/eat. Compared […] to swedish standard, the breakfast was quite poor; toast, croissaints, some beans, fruit and cereals. Not the massive buffet one would expect on a hotel such as this. Read more
"Nice hotel - good location"
We arrived at the hotel at 7am - overnight flight - our checkin time was 3pm - but the hotel staff was able to get us into a room at 8.30 am - much appreciated. Our three night package included breakfast - which I could not find fault with - plenty of variety - and some changes from day to day. Staff friendly and efficient . The hotel is only about […] 50 mitres from Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Alor - where all the hawkers restaurants are - a great place to eat. Also only a five minute walk to the Puduraya bus station and the Chinatown market. Read more
"Nice hotel but watch out for the construction next door"
The hotel was a great deal for the money. However, their is construction going on next door that is nosie at times. Great staff, room and security.
Our stay was pleasant, hotel is nice, very good breakfast, rooms big and comfortable. We had though one problem, that had destroyed our mood, thats every second time the toilet won't flush………and they didn't worked to much to fix it.
"Avoid this DIRTY Hotel if you can ...."
Poor maintenance ... Old outdated rooms with filthy smell all around. Hotel needs massive refurbishment. Avoid this hotel at any cost.

"Good location, hotel ok"
Quite close to jalan alor, a street filled with local restaurants. Hotel is good, worthy of the price. Also tried some other locations in kl but bukit bintang area is definitely the best location for leisure.

"Swiss Garden Residence in Kuala Lumpur"
Overall I am very satisfy with this hotel. The room is clean and the hotel is near Pudu Station which very convenience to the traveller.
great location, and short walk to main hub of KL, Burkit Bintang...hotel showing its age though...
"Swiss Garden in KL"
Stay was pleasurable but don't accept that car parking was being charged RM10 per stay.

"A good hotel for a short getaway"
Booked the family rooms for a weekend getaway. The 1st room we checked into was out of electric however, they’re pretty efficient in getting us a new room. Room is clean, however not much facilities are available in the hotel, the pool was really small and so was the Sauna Room & the gym. Washroom on level 3 (Gym/Pool area) wasn’t really well maintained, […] shower tap wasn’t working very well and cleanliness was not there. However, I’m glad the room’s toilet and the others are generally clean and well maintained. Breakfast services was not as good as compared to other 4stars hotel in KL, it’s a free sitting dining buffet in the restaurant and tables were left unclean even when guest have left. Food choice is ok for us since it’s only for 1day. The hotel was located in the middle of the shopping district(Bukit Bintang) / Chinatown hence it’s a walking distance to everywhere. Overall, it’s still a pleasant stay for a short getaway. Read more
