The hotel is great, friendly staff, beutiful room, wonderful view of the port. The food at the resturant was disappointed but Everything else was wonderful.

A pain to find if its your first time getting around Sorrento. The google maps were off by 5km - I was using the odometer gauge to calculate when/where to turn because the street signs aren't always clear. It took us an extra 1.5 hrs getting there because we kept getting lost in the mountain roads. Once we did get there, the restaurant is 5 stars service […] with amazing food, our caiparinhas at the bar were better than we've ever had and it seemed like each one was getting better (or stronger :-) The marble floor, chandeliers, overlooking the gulf with the view of Vesuvius and the mainland to your right was spectacular. Has English movie channel which you yearn for after some time...Has a shuttle bus every hour that goes down to Sorrento and returns every 30 mins past the hour with the guests that went down. You can walk around exploring Sorrento, take the fast ferry to the island of Capri, the ferry to Napoli. The bus stop is 2 blocks from the train station - we did the ruins of Pompeii via train and the others via boat. Would highly recommend the hotel and would love to stay there again! Aminta is magnificent! Our room was large, the bathroom was beautifully tiled and contained a shower and bath. We had a pretty good stay overall. The hotel is located just up the hill from the main shopping district in Sorrento. The hotel has the biggest shuttle of any of the hotels around which leaves from the hotel every half-hour. This was incredibly convenient. The shuttle also picks up every half-hour from the shopping district and of course it is free. […] The front desk attendant was very informative and helpful. Unfortunately, we had ants along the window and on the floor of our first floor room. I informed the front desk about this and it was handles by the time we got back. The rooms do not have a key card but a key with a HUGE keychain with the room number on it. I think that they want all guests to leave the keys at the front desk when you leave the hotel (which we did). We opted to stay outside of the busy, congested city center of Sorrento, and were very happy with the result. The public spaces and rooms were impeccable. The staff was wonderful, and the view of Sorrento waterfront, Mt. Vesuvius, etc. is breathtaking. A "pedestrian" path down (shared with a few scooters and very small cars) allows you to walk to the […] heart of Sorrento in about 15 minutes. Walking up to the hotel is not necessarily recommended. The shuttle leaves the hotel on the hour, and downtown pickup is on the half hour. This worked great when we needed it. The Dining Room and breakfast were great. During our 5-night stay, we could hear music below us in the lounge until 11:30 on two of those nights, mostly because of the tile floors throughout and the location of our room. The women at the front desk were fantastic-- friendly and very helpful with the questions we had during our stay. If a central location is not a necessity, this should be your top choice! Read more

The hotel is located on the hills overlooking Sorrento and the gulf. Excellent views from the hotel. The service was excellent and the front desk people did their best to help you out. Parking availability is kind of restricted but the front desk people can help you out if there is no availability. There is an excellent shuttle service from the hotel […] to the center of Sorrento that runs until 11:30 at night and it is very frequent. Take advantage of that and don't drive to the center ( can be a nightmare as in every major Italian city). We stayed in the Annex building and although the room was clean and comfortable there are issues with nearby private residences and dogs barking almost all of the time which was a problem when we wanted to sit out on our veranda and even sleep with the windows open. We just got back from our stay at Grand Hotel Aminta, and we loved it! Upon arriving they showed us to our room which was in their annex building. We walked by the pool with an amazing view and through the garden past the lemon grove. It was a short and beautiful walk. Although we had booked a standard room, they upgraded our reservation to a room with […] a small balcony and view of the garden. It was lovely. The room was a good size and very clean. The air conditioning worked well. The beds were a bit hard, but I had expected that from reading previous reviews. I wouldn't say it was an issue. The free Wi-Fi worked well both in the room and around the pool and lounge areas. The pool areas and the view were our favorite parts, we spent a lot of time enjoying these. Sun beds are by reservation at a few Euros/day. There are chairs that you can use at no cost. If you don't reserve a sun bed you can still get a towel from the pool attendant for a small fee. You sign all charges to your room, so no need to carry money around while at the hotel. The hotel overlooks the Bay of Naples, Mt. Vesuvius, and Sorrento below. It is breathtaking. They had fantastic live music at the outdoor lounge. It was nice to have the option to stay at the hotel for entertainment after a very long day of sightseeing. Regarding the food, the breakfast was pretty standard with a choice of cereals, breads, pastries, yogurt, as well as hot items like eggs, bacon and sausage. It wasn't "great" but it was included in the cost of our stay and the convenience was appreciated. We ate at the hotel restaurant on a Wednesday "gala" night. Again, you will find better food in town, but the convenience and the value was worth it. I do recommend the snack bar for lunch, we had some terrific pizza here. The hotel is a 7 minute free bus ride from the hotel. The bus runs every hour on the hour. Its nestled in the mountains overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel's rooms were clean, comfortable, and rather spacious by European standards, particularly the bathroom. Many rooms have beautiful views of the sea and surrounding cliffs and towns. The hotel is not within walking distance to downtown Sorrento, but the hotel operates a free shuttle bus that runs fairly regularly. And while everyone wears whatever they want for breakfast, you will be turned away if you wear shorts to dinner. We were disappointed in the hotel service by many staff. In particular, an ill-placed magnetic door stop directly in front of where you place your suitcase caused my husband to BREAK his toe!! It was evening and my husband very calmly went to the front desk to ask for some ice (while he could have asked to go to the hospital or could have even sued). The hotel's response was "You should be more careful next time. Maybe you were too tired." Unbelievable! On another day, we were sitting in the nearly-empty bar area while it was raining outside. The bartender told another guest who was using the wireless internet access that he could not sit in the bar area if he wasn't drinking and he should go outside (in the rain!) or back to his room. The Aminta is a wonderful hotel in the hills of Sorrento. The view is just absolutely amazing, with Sorrento, the Bay of Naples, and Mount Vesuvius. You can sit on the terrace in comfortable cushioned chairs and take all that view in. Waiting for sunset from this spot, sipping your favorite drink is truly La Dolce Vita. Though the hotel is not in the […] Sorrento town center itself, the shuttle service that runs almost every hour makes it a non-issue (there is a 2 hour gap between in the early afternoon and late at night, between 9:30pm and 11:30pm). It takes just about 10 mins to get to town, though there is apparently a walking path from the hotel that takes 20 mins, though we didn't try this. The room we got was pretty large by European standards and most importantly, very clean. Air conditioning is centrally turned on and off, and if you go in a 'transition' month such as May, there is no AC. There is a thermostat you can control when air (or heat) is on. This wasn't really a problem during our stay, with outside daytime temps in the mid-70 and lows in the low-50 degrees F. The hotel food is pretty good - my wife had a great tuna pasta dish for one lunch. The included breakfast is fairly extensive, with cereal, meats, egg, cheeses, and various pastries. Service is very good and the front desk will not hesitate to give you good advice on where to go and what to do. All in all, a very satisfying stay in Sorrento. Read more

We spent the holidays in Italy,starting in Rome then to Sorrento back up to Florence over to Venice then flew out of Milan. Sorrento was my favorite place over all. The town has a great family feel to it and is not too big and congested, or overrun with tour groups every two feet. I like the relaxed friendly atmosphere, (could have been just the holiday […] spirit). There isn't a lot of ancient churches or ruins there, but Pompeii is close by, and the Amalfi Coast is a bus ride away.. Orange trees line the main street and olive groves on the hills with small boats in the harbor, Sorrento is a photographers/painters must see destination. We did buy a couple original paintings from a little old man in an art shop tucked away on one of the alleys and are very happy with them. I have heard that Sorrento prices climb as the weather gets warmer and the crowds get bigger, so plan accordingly. ( I don't like crowds) Read more
