Bahia Resort Hotel - San Diego

This was our 4th stay at the Bahia - always a perfect spot to go to when looking for relaxation - especially if you stay in a garden riom by the pond.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Bahia. All members of the staff were friendly and helpful. Chris, the concierge, took the time to suggest other options for restaurants that I was looking for and was spot on. Really enjoyed our stay.

All things considered, the hotel is pleasant place to stay. My only concern was that the water in the kitchen sink stank. The coffee maker was stained and rusting. The metal kettle for boiling water was rusting.

The hotel is very old and dirty, and I was expecting more for the price. Location is nice near the airport (not on the beach like pics look). The rooms are large, but the bathrooms couldn't be smaller. It is equipped with a 1970's 2 foot long kitchen, with a full 1980's fridge... yikes! We loved this place. The rooms are comfortable and clean, although not super new. Great for families, lots to do at hotel and nearby. We loved riding the Bahia Belle boat at night (included!) The staff was genuinely nice. Free parking too! We loved the sandy beach just steps from our room, and watching jellyfish in the water. Newly remodeled room was great. The bed was very comfortable, although the couches were not. Front desk upgraded me to a suite at no extra charge, VERY friendly! Room was very clean and the view from the balcony was beautiful! The breakfast buffet leaves something to be desired, but the fresh fruit and fresh-squeezed orange juice were fantastic. This hotel turned out to be so much more than I assumed it was going to be. We immediately upon arrival got upgraded (free of charge) to one of their newly renovated suites and it was beautiful. Our second floor room looked over the bay and the sitting on the balcony in the morning sun while I drank my coffee was my personal favorite. The pool was a […] nice size and we hung out there quite a bit. The ability to order food and drinks poolside was a plus for sure. Our family took advantage of the tennis courts and bike rentals as well. Bring located only a block from Mission Beach made it easy walking for sightseeing, great food choices and shopping, not to mention one of the best beaches in CA (in my opinion). If you didn't want to walk to Mission, the resort also has it's own beach that is much more private on the bay. We saw a dolphin and jellyfish swimming through there. I heard you can also rent paddle boards, paddle boats and segways, however we didn't take advantage of those. It was such a great hotel, we even extended our stay to just sit at the hotel pool and relax one final day before returning to the rat race. I would definitely recommend!!! Read more

We stayed here 3 nights. Reading some of the reviews were mixed on the quality of this place, wasn't too sure, but we got a great rate for 3 nights compared to the other local resorts. We wanted something that had more then just a room. There is a nice pool area, equipment rentals really close (bikes boats etc) Restraunt and bar also on site. I found […] place had a really nice "retro" feel from the 70's. The rooms were very spacious and had all the basic ammenities, fridge coffee maker, safe, TV etc. Our first room had a mini kitchen that would been great if we were staying longer, but the two double beds were too small and we didn't care about the kitchen. The location is great for walking around and easy access to mass transit to just about any of the local sites (USS Midway, gaslamp area, old town) It was great to just jump on the bus (which the staff provided excellent instructions) and not have to drive and find parking somewhere. The beach was right there to walk along, sun or rent a boat. The best part to me was the free boat ride across the bay. The drinks were cheap on the boat, had a DJ on Saturday night and no kids after 9ish. It was nice to just hop on and go for a evening ride and a few drinks. I would definetly stay again, and would recommend it to anyone. Just keep in mind if you expect the latest newest place you'll pay for it, enjoy a few extra coins in your pocket for a place that easily and nicely meets anyones basic needs. Read more

Way to expensive for the age ad up keep of the rooms. The staff very polite and curtious..carprting in the rooms very old. locks on sliding glass doors inoperable and antiquated..A/C and heaters very loud and do not work properly from room to room

The Bahia Resort was very comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful. The hotel itself needs some cosmetic upgrades but it was clean. The best thing was that we felt safe allowing our two boys (13 & 9) to go to the pool or explore the beaches on their own. There were a lot of families.

The location is great. Next to Mission Beach, on the water. A mile or two from Sea World. They have their own boat they take out on cruises on Thursdays and Saturdays. The only bad thing is their beds. Super uncomfortable. Had a sore back every morning. Overall a good stay.

I lived in Mission Beach 25 years ago and I must say, the Bahia hasn't changed since I lived there. Although extremely outdated, the hotel was clean and the location can't be beat! Our rooms were in a great location right on the bay which was really nice. There was plenty of parking as long as you got there before 10 p.m. or so and then the parking […] lot filled up. We were able to walk to the ocean for restaurants and entertainment in about 5 minutes (it is almost right across the street) and it was less than a 5 minute drive to Sea World. The hotel was dated and my room was filthy..... The tub was dirty and there was hair throughout my bed. I had to wait 30 minutes to check in, and then there was no parking available. We had to park and walk 1/4 mile to the tower where our room was. I was a mom traveling alone with two children. I was down in a tower at the end of the facility where […] there were no amenities. I called the front desk to ask for help and they kept putting me on hold for 10 minutes at a time because of checking people in. I had two kids exhausted and scared of the hair in the bed. They were filthy after a day at the zoo and the bathtub was disgustingly dirty with hair and loose debris. It felt like a never ending nightmare. We finally gave up and just went to bed as is. As a mom traveling with my kiddos I guess I needed something more commercial and user friendly. I am not a hotel snob, and usually head to motel 6 on the road. This hotel looked so special online and we were on a 1000 mile from home family vacation. It was a waste of $156.00. It was a really disappointing stay..... :( Read more

I've stayed many places in and around Mission Beach/PB area. I've stayed here before but never on the side that faced the bay. We were upgraded to a corner room on the 2nd floor that had a nice patio and beautiful view especially in the morning with the sun coming in. Very nice, relaxing vibe. The private beach and marina were very nice. We all enjoyed the sternwheeler ride a lot. The water was very flat whcih was excellent for paddleboarding, sailing, kayaking etc. We plan to stay longer next time.

The hotel was very nice. The price was pretty good (for San Diego). It is located right on Mission Bay. But it does not have a fitness center (or even a room with a treadmill or two in it). The walls are very thin (thin like low end chain motels). Your nighttime experience will depend greatly on your neighbor. It was great on Thursday. But a loud, obnoxious, […] profane neighbor showed up for Friday night. My experience was totally different that night as a result.
