While the apartments in this hotel appear nice at first glance, the hotel does not pay attention to detail in making sure everything your room is up to standard. We arrived in our room to discover the sink's drain in the bathroom was completely plugged up, thus making all the running water just fill up in the sink bowl. We had to brush our teeth and […] wash up in the kitchen sink. We alerted management to this and they said they could not fix it until the next day. Then, my girlfriend had the unlucky experience of getting food poisoning that night. She was up the entire night vomiting in the bathroom, and had no sink to use since it was clogged. Since she was so ill, she wanted to stay in the hotel, a bit past check out, the next morning until our train departure. The hotel made no accommodation for us at all. They charged us 10 pounds an hour to stay in the room, and gave no concession for the clogged up sink. Overall, a bad experience. I will never stay here again. Read more

We rented a room for one night at this hotel based on the Frommer's travel guide recommendations. That book couldn't have been more wrong. The room was dirty, the plumbing was noisy, the kitchen counters needed to be wiped down and the complimentary items (like coffee, tea, sugar, cream, etc.) were all gone/used except one packet of sugar. The "rooms" are full apartments in a renovated factory or warehouse right behind the Piccadilly Station in downtown Manchester. Everything was spotless and it was wonderful to relax on the sofa watching TV in the evening and then having snacks (or a full dinner) prepared in the full kitchen, eating at the dining room table. I liked the place very much.it was in the heart of the city center,the apartment was very big. I found the bath room not being cleaned, and on repeated complain about the exhaust not working in the bathroom.It was not fixed. Customer service needs improvement. Over all I will stay there again.

This is a great location in the city centre for a superb price. You get all the comforts of an apartment, with the conveniences and perks of a hotel. The rooms are extremely roomy. There's a few markets close by, so you can stock up of morning goods if you want to save your quid from eating out. The outside window for my room only existed from the […] bedroom, hence getting natural light in the other areas wasn't possible. There is a large window on the atrium, which provides some filtered natural light. But also concedes to a lack of privacy - be sure to roll down the shades - Service seems to always roll them up after cleaning the apartment. Also as I arrived in Manchester early, I was able to store my luggage at the hotel for a few hours before checkin, allowing me to explore the city without toting my bags around town. It's situated a few hundred meters from Picadilly Rail station and about 4-5 blocks from Picadilly Gardens. You can pretty much walk to much everywhere in the city within 30 minutes or so, including Sportcity. Since you are close to rail and tram, you can quickly hop a train/tram/coach to pretty much anywhere further. Free wireless internet is a plus here, as I found locating free internet difficult in Manchester. My only complaint would be the Bed with a bit flat and lumpy - not the most comfortable, but not as bad as pullout or sleeper sofa. I'd highly recommend the Place Hotel and would stay here again if the opportunity arises. Read more

Apartment's are ina great location, staff are very helpful. Only criticism would be the shower wasn't very good and the rooms could probably be a little cleaner.

The Place Apartment Hotel is convenient to downtown Manchester and Picadilly Station. The rooms are large and the facilities (cooking, dishwashers, clothing washer/dryers) are a strong plus. The rooms are well prepared and the staff is very helpful when asked. I would recommend staying in this hotel even if just for one night. Its in a prime location, close to the centre. Rooms are clean, spacious and modern. The extra room is good for more than 2 people. I.e living area, kitchen. The staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent place to stay! Would go again!

The appartment based hotel has the advantage of somewhat larger space and kitchen area etc. than a normal hotel. For a family of four and a short stay this hotel is ideal given the location and a reasonable price. Living room is dark and pretty public as the windows are orientated inwards in the building and anybody on your flor can peep if you don't […] shut down curtains completely. Bedrooms and beds are fine, but the maintenance standard is not up to 4 stars rating, 3 stars would be appropriate. Service is good and staff well trained. we were finishing our trip to wales with a couple of days in manchester to check out the city and take it easy. this was the perfect place. the kitchen had a fridge and a freezer, plus many more amenities that we did not need for such a short stay. we were able to grab a six pack of beer on our walk home, throw it in the fridge, and have a few drinks […] in the room as we wound down from a day of walking. hotel staff were helpful with questions as far as what to go out and see as well as getting us a cab at 6 am for our flight. i would highly recommend the place. The hotel is ideally located near train station. surprisingly quiet for a hotel that was so central. Ideal for families.

Everything was more than perfect..will definitely be staying there on my next trip to Manchester!

Great hotel with pleasant staff who helped us throughout our stay. Got upgraded to a different room as noise in function room was loud due to us being directly above- minimal fuss and excellent support from staff. will definitely visit again.

We were upgraded from a one to a two bedroom apartment, and really couldn't believe the space and comfort we had for such a reasonable price. We were going out for the evening, and found it hard to leave the apartment! Staff were polite and helpful, we had no problem parking in the hotel car park (surcharge). The one small thing I could criticise […] is the crockery and other kitchen supplies - 3 mugs in an apartment that slept 5? Wine glasses and other crockery were also short, having presumably not been replaced when broken. Read more

We were en route to Edinburgh from Singapore and just wanted a place to stay the night after a long flight before driving from Manchester to Edinburgh. The front desk staff was great and upgraded us from a single room to a double room apartment for free. Rooms were great very spacious and we could lay out our baby's playmat. The washer and dryer is […] a must for families travelling with babies as stuff inadvertently gets pooped or spat up on so that's another plus. The porter did tell my husband that he was unable to carry our backs cos he hurt his back? Which we found a little strange... Got an upgrade to a 2 bed apartment - a ridiculous amount of space for a hotel room which was amazing. Everything you could possibly need and more. Ideal location for city centre. Hope to go back with a group of friends.

another great stay - have been upgraded without asking both times I have stayed at this hotel. Reception staff are efficient and welcoming. Female travelling alone but meeting friends in Manchester. Would definately recommend and won't stay anywhere else when in Manchester.

Stayed 6 nights (family of four) and had a really good time in Manchester, not least thanks to spacious apartments (kids loved it). Really friendly staff all over. Some maintenance work went on during our stay, but both staff and and craftsmen did their best to smooth out access problems. Immediate surroundings has little to boast about, but a five […] mins walk and you're in the heart of Manchester. Good value for money with a pleasant breakfast included. The hotel is excellent. The apartment was comfortable, clean and well serviced. The only slight downside was the bedroom was cramped. Both doors would hit something when opened and the foot of the bed was so close to the opposite wall it was easier to walk round the other way to get to the other side.

I recently stayed in this lovely hotel on a midweek night away with my boyfriend. I booked back in January for a unbelievably low rate so I wasn't sure what to expect but I could not have been more pleased. The hotel was just a 5 minute walk from Picadilly and on arrival the welcome we had from the reception was polite and professional. We were upgraded […] to a two bedroom apartment which was quite frankly, three times the size of my flat. ......not as good as some of the previous reviews would have you believe. Apartment was spacious, quiet and comfortable and staff were extremely helpful - nothing seems too much trouble. However, speaking as someone who stays in a lot of hotels and aprtment hotels, I have to say I was a little dissapointed with the quality of some aspects of The Place. […] In particular, the bathrooms were poorly designed, dated and "worn around the edges. For example, lots of old mastic behind the sink, weak shower, very noisy extractor fans, one of which was covered in about an inch of dust. The kitchen area contained a dirty dish in the cupboard which was still there 2 days after I reported it, as well as a rusty and unappealing oven tray. The extractor fan could only be turned on via an isolation switch on the ceiling that required you to stand on a chair or the work surface. The bed made lound creaking sounds whenever you moved. However, I will be staying here again, as the pluses outweigh the negatives and I have encountered bigger issues elsewhere in Manchester. I booked a double room, but ended up with a huge apartment! The floors were very sticky when I first arrived, but after one day of servicing this was fine. The hotel is quiet, great staff on reception, and a useful little gym. Kitchens are amazingly stocked. Really useful washing machine / dryer. what a find! Two minutes' walk from Piccadilly station and Piccadilly Gardens, a beautiful converted warehouse. the apartments are fantastic and equipped with everything you could possibly need. I will definitely use this again - for the price I paid, I couldn't believe how great it was!

I was welcomed at reception and was informed my room had been upgraded. The room was on the first floor and very well laid out. Everything was perfect. A bonus is that the apartment offers free Wifi. My only complaint, actually more of an annoyance, was that there was very few sachets of coffee, but plenty of decaf sachets.

This aparthotel is in a great location and within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops in the centre as well as fantastic for Picaddilly train station and tram. Breakfast is only £6 if you book the evening before and great value. Reception staff and any others I spoke to were friendly and helpful which was a good point. Free internet is […] a bonus since many hotels charge extra for this. Beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious. I was in a 2 bed apartment and this has 1 bedroom looking into the interior which isn't good if you like a dark room for sleeping in as the blind lets in light from the atrium. The other one is perfect though as it has proper curtains and an opening window to the outside. Housekeeping is not their strong point as I reported red wine stains on the dining room table but they were stil there when I left. There were also no hangers in the internal bedroom wardrobe and again still none put in although I did speak to reception twice about this. Maintenance however is good as I reported 1 bulb in the shower room wasn't working and they had it fixed by the time I got back in the evening and the safe was also fixed the same day I reported it wasn't working. Sounds like a lot of gripes but the only thing that would put me off returning is that the apartment just felt grubby and sticky. Stayed here 25th Feb. I booked The Place before Christmas as part of my boyfirend's Christmas pressie weekend away. When I booked it I thought there must be some catch as the hotel looked lovely from the pictures and the price was so good! When we arrived it was even better than I was expecting. The lobby area is lovely and the staff were very friendly […] and ensured an easy check-in. We were a few hours early to check but we were able to leave our bags with them whilst we had a look around the shops. When we returned and went to our room I could not believe how beautiful it was for the price I had paid. The open plan living room, kitchen and dining area were lovely with the red brick walls and industrial beams etc. The bedroom was also very nice and a reasonable size with a curved brick ceiling and very comfortable bed. Absolutely love the décor and style of the rooms. It seemed a shame not to get much use out of the kitchen area as we only stayed one night but the novelty of having a whole apartment was fab! I didn't want to leave and wished I could transport the whole apartment home to replace my boring house! We had breakfast in the morning which we thought was very reasonably priced. It was help yourself which my boyfriend loved and made sure he got more than his moneys worth! All in all I would say this is the nicest hotel I have stayed in for quite some time and would definatly stay there again! The only negative I have is that there are no instructions for some of the appliances-I could not work out how to turn the oven off so had to turn the plug switch off instead. I was really amazed at the size and comfort of the apartment. The exterior decor is deceiving as you approach the hotel but the interior is excellent! Staff excellent! This review is from a well travelled and fussy person.

Another excellent stay. Very relaxing. The rooms were so warm I had to open the window to cool it down.

Location is superb for the city centre. We went to a gig at the University which was a fair walk but ok in dry weather - got a bus back, plenty of them. The apartment was great, good layout, plenty of room, nice furnishings, very comfy bed & quiet. From the bedroom we could see a busy road but we couldn't hear the traffic. The staff we met at reception […] & the bar were lovely, very helpful, polite & cheerful - no sour faces which we have come across at other city centre stays. We would definitely stay here again. There;s no more to say for me and my friends we had a wonderfull time in manchester and most of all we had a very relaxing time in the hotel.

I was there on business but it was pleasant to be able to prepare and eat my evening meal in the apartment instead of having to venture into the cold weather to find a restaurant. The hotel and staff were welcoming and the room was well laid out and comfortable.

Excellent location, near Piccadilly Station, and the city center where all the shopping is. Staff were very helpful and the cleaning staff were very friendly too... I wish that TV in the bedroom had some channels, though it was not something big. One thing I didnt like was that the living room had windows to the center of the hotel, and the blinds were […] not that of a cover. A bit of privacy is neeeded. Read more

Great place to stay in Manchester.....its basically a four star hotel with the usual 24 hour reception, bar, gym, restaurant, nightclub, but each room is a fully kitted out apartment including bedroom, dining area, kitchen (with dish washer, fridge, oven/hob, microwave, etc), bathroom, and lounge area. Booked it through hotels.com and it proved to be […] slightly cheaper than any other hotels in the area! The only thing to be aware of is that a breakfast wasn't included, although it is available as a per person charge at the hotel restaurant. We'll definitely stay there again. Read more

best hotel i've ever been to. was upgraded to a double-bedroom apartment without extra-charging. fully equipped kitchen and stylish apartment in general. looks like a house, not a hotel room. next to picadilly station.

Location: 3 minutes walk from Piccadilly Train Station and 6/7 minutes walk to the centre of Manchester. Service: Very Good and Friendly. I had emailed in advance requesting some extra information and received a very quick and detailed response. Room: Very nice sized apartment, full kitchen with utensils, dishwasher, full sized fridge with a small […] carton of REAL milk provided. However, though the rooms were spacious they were a bit dated. Bathroom had some black marks around the bath area. Dining: Layout of dining room was cool. Black table clothes and cool chairs.
