The location of the Alpenhof can't be beat. Near the tram and yards away from Bridger gondola and base lifts. It’s intimate and old-school, a refreshing change from a corporate hotel experience. A Jackson friend put it best: "The Alpenhof is a Jackson Hole treasure." Free ski storage, boot dryers, a lively apres ski crowd, and warm chocolate chip cookies […] and cocoa at 3:00 each day, are big bonuses on a ski trip. The very friendly staff made me feel at home as soon as I walked in the door. My room was comfortable with lots storage for the extra clothing and equipment one brings to ski. The room had a desk and chair, built-in upholstered bench under a window, nightstand, side chair, dresser, and flat-panel TV. Free WiFi is everywhere, and a computer and printer in the lobby are available for guests. A baseboard heating system controlled by a wall thermostat, meant the room was wonderfully silent. The bed was very comfortable, with pillows of different densities. The switch on the desk lamp was faulty, and would not stay on, and the room could have benefitted from more lighting in general. The bathroom, though small, had been renovated recently, and was stocked with plenty of towels. A timed heating element in the bathroom ceiling wasn't working very well. As other reviewers have mentioned, the complimentary breakfast buffet is great. If you're looking for a small, unique hotel with a friendly staff and awesome location at the JH Ski Resort, the Alpenhof is the place. Read more

I was in Jackson Hole by myself (prior to a work related stay in the town of Jackson) to do some snowboarding. The person who I checked in with (I think her name was Tessa) was very friendly and helpful. Also, when I had dinner at the Alpenhof Bistro that night, the wait staff (Justin and Kelly) were kind enough to chat with me while I sat at the bar […] (it was pretty dead in the village due to it still being the off season). This motel is showing it's age. Maintenance could definitely be better. We did battle with the puffy pillows both nights. The breakfast with decent and the staff there was great. We were going to eat at the restaurant for dinner but were told by several guests that the service was terrible. They were disgusted. I wouldn't stay again.

Alpenhof was in a great location right next to the Jackson Hole gondola lift. I don't think you could get any closer if you wanted. Rooms were fine. A little outdated but beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good too!

The Alpenhof is the oldest hotel in the village and it shows. There werar and tear is evident. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant leaves something to be desired. The fondue is very expensive for what you get and not very good at all. I would probably stay elsewhere.

We had a problem with the tub draining and it was fixed right away. The location is very nice and the breakfasts were very good. Staff was very helpful in recommending activities for me and my grandaughter. Things are a little dated, but well kept.

Eh. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was warmer than the hot tub. The food was terrible in the restaurant/bar. My husband said, "that was the worst meal I've ever had on a vacation". The short ribs were nothing but hard, burnt fat. Short ribs are supposed to contain meat along with the fat and fall off the bone, not need to be knawed on […] like jerky. Terribly overpriced for what we got. I can see paying that price during ski season. It was almost as if they just left the place open during the summer on the off chance some schmuck would bite. Unfortunatly, I bit. This area is also not biker friendly. We were the only motorcycle in town and were yelled at to "put a muffler on that thing!" and called names. Even though we have a very quiet bike, not a loud Harley. Next time we go to the area, we will stay in Jackson. Everyone that stayed in Jackson during the time we visited the Teton Village and this hotel had a great experience. Read more

Great location for the Teton Music Festival. Just wish it had an elevator. My old knees suffered. This was difficult for me. I also wish they had a refrigerator in the room so we could have a cold drink. I also wish they had a garbage can in the room - not just in the bathroom.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The location was incredibly convenient to the Grand Teton National Park and only a short drive away from Jackson WY. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We would not hesitate to go back there should we ever decide to revisit the area.

We stayed at the Alpenhof in conjunction with sightseeing in the Grand Tetons. Compared with staying inside the park, the location is a bit inconvenient; however, there was the side advantage that Teton Village has some nice restaurants, and nearby Jackson some superb restaurants. In terms of location, I'd suggest the traveler look into Jackson itself […] because the direct route from Teton Village to the Grand Tetons National Park is over a poor dirt road, which is OK as long as it hasn't rained, but not much faster than going the long way around, via Jackson; so from that standpoint it makes more sense simply to stay in Jackson. On the other hand, the Alpenhof affords a very pleasant stay and may be better than any of the lodgings in Jackson. In the summer, parking for the Alpenhof is convenient and free. The front desk is open 24 hours, and there were even refreshments available at 5 a.m. for those wanting to head out for a view of the sunrise over the Grand Tetons. The room was quiet and clean with a pleasing decor, and we liked the Swiss/Bavarian feel of the village. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was included. It's a few steps up to the elevator from the lobby, but the staff is available to help if you need it. Read more

Simply Perfect. My wife and I stayed at this Hotel on our way out after a few night stay at Yellowstone and Teton National Parks. This Hotel has a strong European atmosphere and with combination of the high elevation, snow covered peaks of the Grand Tetons, you will imagine yourself being in the Swiss Alps with a taste of Austria. Being from California, […] we also related the interior decorations as found in Solvang California. The bed was extremely comfortable compared to the Hampton Inn Suites in Jackson. As a special recomendation, have dinner at the hotel's Alpenhof Bistro and try their Onion Soup. The flavor is very delicious. For meat lovers, order their meat combination special, a Buffalo steak, Buffalo suasage and Elk Steak. Order the meat medium rare as the flavor and texture of these game meats are best eaten this way compared to your beef steaks. Also take the opportunity in the morning to go up the Tram up the mountain to roughly 10,600 feet in elevation to see the entire Jackson Hole valley and Tetons from a completely spectacular view. If your lucky you will spot a Bear or Moose on your way up. We did. The staff at the Alpenhof is attentive and friendly. In regards to the Alpenhof bistro, the servor whose name is Nate, is not only attentive, displays true dedication and profesionalism and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the hotel, the food and the entire region. My husband and I just returned from our annual ski trip to Jackson Hole on 1/27/12. We stay at the Alpenhof each year. The location is fantastic, true ski in/ski out. There is a ski shop attached to the hotel, makes getting your rental equipment a breeze. The hotel has a good sized room off the lobby to store your gear. It is safe and convenient. The […] rooms are comfortable, but not large. The furniture style takes up most of the floor space, but there is plenty of storage in the dresser and closet. The bed is very comfy. If you need a little more space, upgrade to the Bavarian King room. Otherwise the dolomite queen room will do just fine. The hotel has charm and the staff is great from the front desk and both restaurants on site. The bistro is great for apres ski. It gets crowded and the staff does its best to take care of everyone timely, but I suggest ordering a couple of drinks and your food as soon as you can, may be a bit before your server makes it back to check on you. One of our favorite ammenities with the hotel is the breakfast buffet that comes with your room,not the typical continental. The staff at breakfast is fantastic, especially Trevor. The Alpenhof is located 10 miles outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and is our favorite place to stay.
