This hotel was very nice and at a great location. The breakfast was the best that we had during our two week Italy trip across multiple locations. The staff was very helpful. I can easily say that this was the most comfortable bed and room we encountered on our trip as well. Would definitely recommend...

We were generally very pleased with Isabella. The location was fantastic. the unpretentious doorway is nestled in the Gucci storefront. Within a 2 block area are Tiffany's, Burberry, Bottega Venetia, Fendi and at least another dozen high end shops. 10 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo. The bridge at the end of the street allows you to cross […] the Arno in 5 minutes, The staff were uniformly friendly, helpful and courteous. We were given perfect suggestions for everything from gelato (not all are the same) to Internet cafes, (hotel has no computer for the use of guests). Tha is our first suggestion. I needed a desktop or laptop and only had an iPad. The other issue was insufficient lighting in the room. Our room had two nightstand lamps and a standing lamp but no general room illumination, which would have been helpful, especially in the evenings. On the other hand, the buffet breakfast was plentiful and fresh. They will even cook eggs upon request. The room was a little small but lovely, nice sized bathroom adequate closet space space and a room safe. The check-in, reception is one flight up with no lift, but staff will carry your luggage for you. When we checked out front desk reception printed our boarding passes and a porter/bellman carried our luggage down and waited until our taxi arrived to help load the bags. Read more

Short walk from train station and close to most major sites. Nice small hotel - very clean. If you don't like stairs, don't stay here, lots of steps to get to the main hotel desk area. Great breakfast and coffee/tea also available in room. Will definitely consider staying here again.

Yes, there are stairs to the reach the reception desk but assistance from the bell staff is readily available. The room was nicely appointed, very comfortable and quiet, despite being on the street-side of the hotel. You can walk from the train station even with a suitcase, in 10 minutes. The location of Roomate Isabella was perfect for our visit to Florence. A 10 minute walk to the train station and other Florence sites were easily accessible within a 5-15 minute walk. We have stayed here twice during the off season. Both times were excellent. The only small down side was having to take bags up and down stairs. Not a big deal. Probably best hotel we stayed during two week tour. We would stay again.

The hotel is very well located, the staff is kind but that's it. Overall conditions of the room were terrible, the hotel looks old and used. Dirty walls, stained furniture and a bed so hard that felt like sleeping on the floor.  All this in what they called a "superior" room. My wifes parents got the standard room and they had absolutely the same problems […] in a much smaller room. The breakfast was ok with a good variety of food, but there was only one waitress and it was not enough keep up with all the guests. Since the first day we arrived there was a juice jar leaking from the cap and spilling all over the floor everytime someone used and during the four days of our stay nobody fixed it. A four stars hotel could not overlook such "details". I left the hotel frustrated and disappointed, I felt like I could have had better for the same price. Read more

PROS: Centrally located. Continental breakfast (very simple and fresh). Free Wi-Fi. Courteous and helpful front desk. In the middle of high end shopping (Gucci, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, etc) CONS: Bathtub/shower only has a half wall made of glass. AC turned off (but I think that is standard in Italy in the Fall). I was fine with it, but if you are elderly […] or have problems climbing stairs, you should know that there is a short flight of stairs you MUST climb to even get to the elevator. We had a fantastic corner room with french doors that opened. While clean and roomy, the bed was a bit hard and the bedspread and curtains are dated. The breakfast was wonderful (especially the pot of hot chocolate). The staff were friendly. The location is great.

This is an elegant old hotel very conveniently located for a first visit to Florence. It is a ten minute walk from the train station although I would suggest you preview the walk from street level online as the roads are very confusing. You have to climb stairs up one story to access the elevator so it is not an option for mobility impaired visitors. […] The porter is able to get your bags into a dumb waiter from street level so at least you don't have to schlep them up that first story. A fuse blew the second time we entered the room and stuck the card key in to turn on the lights. The porter came and reset it and we just pulled the plug on one of the lights to avoid that happening again. The bed/bathroom/room was very clean, no sign of bedbugs and nice crisp linens. There was a small fridge stocked with drinks, a coffee/tea maker with cups and teabags and the usual toiletry amenities. The bed was firm. Every morning from 7:30 AM, a very nice breakfast was served on the lobby level including cereals, yogurt, fruit, sausage, eggs, breads, rolls, pastries and sometimes really great fruit tarts with coffee, juices and milk. That same area becomes a limited selection bar the rest of the day where we enjoyed a gin and tonic before heading out to dinner one night. The two best eateries we found were just a few blocks away - Trattoria al Trebbio and Le Belle Donne. You will pass right by them on your walk from the train station if you take Via degli Avelli to the hotel. Read more

We stayed at the Albergotto for 4 nights when we were in Florence. The hotel itself is in a great spot, although Florence is such an easy walking city, most spots would be OK. The hotel room was nice, spacious for a European hotel. Free Wifi was great, after nearly 2 weeks of paying for wifi in other parts of Italy. The staff was gracious and helpful, […] although one of their dinner recommendations was not great, their 2nd recommendation of Trebboli was just what we were looking for, off the beaten path and local. I had an early departure the next morning and the staff was kind enough to make a full breakfast buffet an hour early- that's great service! Very centrally located. Room was clean and the shower temperature/pressure was better than other hotels in the area. We walked everywhere (including the train station after we checked out). It's in the middle of the upscale shopping district. We had a nice city view from our room. Other reviewers complained about the walk up the steps and the elevator […] stopping on the 1st floor - get over it. The porters will bring your bags up and down if you desire it. The elevator stopped for about a second (the front desk is up one level and that's how they maintain awareness of who's entering the hotel) and the inconvenience was negligible. I rarely leave comments on these websites but felt I had to for this hotel. My friend and I were attending a wedding in Florence and decided to travel within Italy and outside of Italy for the 2 weeks before the wedding and we decided to use the Albergotto as our base for our travels. We each had separate rooms and stayed 3 separate nights and it was […] the best experience I have had with a hotel in a long time. I emailed ahead of time to let them know we were staying 3 non-consecutive nights and to request if possible storage of our extra bags because we didn't want to lug around 2 weeks worth of stuff. They graciously agreed and were so fantastic with storing our bags (even after we both came back with an extra bag). Our bags were always available to us and by our last night there our bags were in our room before we even got there. All the hotel staff were excellent but it just so happened that most of our arrivals or departures occurred when Luca was on duty, he is want one expects when one thinks of a hospitality professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful. He made museum reservations for us and recommended great dinning options. I can not say enough about the service he provided during our stay at the hotel. As for the hotel the rooms were lovely, charming and very European, the baths were small very well decorated and clean. If you want a small hotel in the heart of it all with charming rooms and great service you cannot go wrong with the Albergotto hotel. Read more
