Great place to stay. Very warm welcome from friendly & informative staff. Great breakfast and all day coffee/cookies! Big room & clean; some building features a little tired but warmth of welcome more than made up for it. Excellent location for hiking, touring & biking - the scenery was just fantastic. Village a very short walk away with lots of eateries.
"DO NOT STAY HERE!"

Do NOT stay at this Travelodge! I was told by central reservations that the pet fee was $10 per night but the hotel owner insisted it was $45 per night as it is an independent hotel. She was the most rude, nasty person I have ever dealt with! Luckily we checked out the room before we accepted the outrageous fee. It was the most disgusting dive I have ever seen! The carpet was chewed up, holes in the doors, stains, torn and hanging curtains....and a stench. Unbelievable!!! We got a room at the Motel 6 just down the street with no pet fee and a totally modern, new faculty with friendly and helpful staff. What a breath of fresh air after the worst hotel experience ever!

Breakfast area was small but sufficient. Did not have an exercise room or pool. Rooms were older but quiet and overall no major complaints. Good location in walking distance of restaurants and shopping.
"Basics OK But A Bit Shabby for the Price"

We chose this hotel because the location in Mammoth Lakes was perfect for our two days' stay in the area, and because we thought we couldn't go wrong with "Travellodege". The basics of this hotel were fine (eg, bed and linens), but it was obviously that the place had not received basic maintence for a good while; (eg, walls needed repainting and stained and smelly hallway carpet needed replacement). The door to our room stuck and often we were left in the hallway, needing to get a staff member to come to open it using their experience of somehow lifting and banging it open (why not just fix it?) I didn't feel very safe in the place either--the basement car park security (eg, door to upstairs) was virtually non-existent. If the price had been half the current price, maybe OK....but for $129/night, no.

Dirty, old, broken amenities, very very limited breakfast and $160+ for 1 night. Not acceptable at all!! We are so so disappointed. Didn't expect to stay at a castle, don't get me wrong. We stayed at Travelodge before and I've always recommended it to others, it's always been good. But not after this experience. Never again! The hotel is using a good name to sell something that is way below the standard. Shame on you, My advice: stay away from this place!
"It was a overall pleasant experience."

We stayed for a single night in Mammoth. Ideal location, walking distance to 'The Village', restaurants and bars. Other than room size which was moderate everything else was good. Complimentary continental breakfast was so so.
"Avoid this motel!"

I came to Mammoth Lakes with a friend for a couple days of hiking. I was searching for a moderate, clean place to stay. Didn't care about any amenities - price was the driver. I booked the Travelodge for $124 per nite plus the crazy taxes and 2 nites and $300 later, was very glad to leave! This place needs major attention! Bathroom needs total replacement, along with the carpeting, towels (I clean my auto with better rags) and TV ( circa 1990). The free breakfast was ok and the bed about the same. There was a crumbled envelope on the dresser marked for housekeeping tips! The best tip I can leave is to warn others to AVOID THIS PLACE!
"Needs to be bulldozed"

We were touring USA form UK and found this place because it broke the long journey from Las Vegas to Yosemite. It was far and away the worst place we stayed in the whole trip. It is very run down, carpets dirty and smelly, and not very secure (door from car park was unlocked and balcony door seemed to have been forced at some time). Perhaps the next time the pisten bully is out on the slopes it could divert and demolish this place.
"Convenient and affordable"
We decided to stop in Mammoth for an overnight on our way to Lake Tahoe. Found the Travelodge there to be affordable and comfortable for a quick overnight stay. It's located about halfway between the resort and the town so it's convenient to both. They also include a continental breakfast, however I missed it because I was out on a mountain bike ride! Oh well the ride was worth the missed food! The staff was very accommodating and friendly!
"AVOID THIS HOTEL"

We stayed one night en route from Death Valley to Yosemite. There are 2 good points. Ideal location for a stopover and kind staff. However the hotel stinks. Reception smells like a kitchen. And there must be a plumbing problem as there were horrible toilet smells that came and went in the room through the night. Bed was lumpy. Pillow like a rock. I used a jumper in the end to make my own pillow. Bathroom tiles mouldy in places. Sink cracked right through. Carpet needs a good clean, not just a vacuum. I have nothing against old installations but they must be clean and comfortable. Noise levels from kids racing up and down the corridors were unacceptable. My husband had to go and ask politely for a family to control their kids (which they did do). Will never return here.
