A great place to stay for the money and I will definitely stay again! The room was large, very clean and had a microwave and fridge. The bed was comfy enough for even a picky person like me! The location is very good for sightseeing - local bus runs nearby and the famous Powell and Hyde Street Cable Car line is only 2 blocks away, so getting around is very easy. Free parking is a huge bonus in a place like San Francisco where most hotels charge an additional 25 - 40 dollars (or more) per night. The front desk was exceptionally helpful and cheerful.

This hotel was in a great, safe location. I was impressed the moment I walked in my room. It was very clean and smelled good. I didn't know what to expect after reading what seemed like thousands of scary reviews on hotels in San Francisco! The ONLY draw back is the view, because there is none. But if you go out on the balcony and stand on your tippy toes, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge!

I should have gotten the name of the "VERY" helpful and friendly desk clerk so that he could get KUDOS for his willingness to map out directions to to places that we wanted to go. Also, the description states "continental" breakfast but it was more than just the average pastry and coffee. They had assorted granola bars, Yoplait yogurt, fresh fruit, and lots of different pastries. Also, the rooms were extremely clean and very roomy. I stayed with my mother-in-law, niece, and daughter and we never felt cramped. Free parking was also a plus. Due to my little girl being in the modeling business I am a frequent visiter to SF, I stay at lots of different hotels depending on the price and I certainly stay at this one again.

We enjoyed our stay at Castle Inn. Our room was very clean and so was the rest of the hotel. It seemed to be in a good area. The check-in clerk was nice enough to accomodate us with a king bed instead of the queen that we booked. He also showed us all the good areas of San Francisco on a map in a tourist booklet that he let us have as well as showing us what areas we should avoid(very helpful). The price we paid for the night was very well worth the stay. The bathroom was spotless with a great shower head. The towels were just the right size. There was a heat lamp in the bathroom. The television had alot of channels and there was an electric fan in the room. The heater kept the room nice and warm for our February stay. The room also had large mirrors and large windows. We will recommend this Hotel.

Although it seems like a throwback to the old days of mom and pop motels, the Castle Inn was comfortable and located in a decent area (Russian Hill) of San Francisco. Don't expect anything fancy. San Francisco is a very expensive city and the room rate was in the middle of the pack. For the money we were satisfied with the comfort of our room and the courtesy of the owners. Cabs are plentiful and for just a few dollars we were able to venture to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown or practically anywhere else.

It is a older hotel, but it was in a way expected, given the location. San Francisco downtown, after all, is an older city. And it does offer great location, service and very friendly staff. Room was very clean. Again, can not say enough of their staff. The lady was extremely helpfull, giving us tips for the local landmarks, restaurants and things to do and places to see. Me and my wife absolutely loved it. Without a doubt, we will be back to the this hotel.

I saw fairly good reviews for this hotel which is why I chanced it, plus it was close to the event I came to town for. The room looked like it had recently been remodeled, and was nice - and very clean. The size of the room and the bathroom were surprisingly large for what I'm used to in San Francisco! Last, but not least was the free WiFi in the room. In 75-90% of the hotels I've stayed in over the past 6 months, the advertised "free WiFi" was either non-existent, or so weak it wasn't worth trying. The WiFi at Castle Inn was consistently strong my entire stay of two nights. The only negative thing I noticed were some noisy neighbors next to and above me - but not the hotel's fault for rude people. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was in an excellent location and made it very easy to access the city. The room was good for the money and the free internet and breakfast made it a wonderful value. It was generally quiet with very little street noise, the only complaint would be that the pillows were small and a bit hard. What made this hotel the one we will return to is the service... the staff was wonderful! Excellent! Incredibly helpful, friendly and wonderful.... the girl behind the desk drew out maps and directions for us, even calling transit authorities to make sure she was sending us on the best route. She reserved wine country tours for us and made sure to knock on our door because the phone had not been working well the night before and she wanted to be sure we got our wake up call. We would go back again :)

This has to be one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in...ever. First off, we arrived at the hotel 4 hours early and the desk clerk made a valiant attempt at getting us in our room early. She didn't have a room available at the time, so she allowed us to store our bags while we went to have some lunch. Secondly, the very same desk clerk provided us with a map of the area and gave us directions to most of the highlights in the area, she even warned us of areas to avoid. It's the kind of service you would expect at a 4 or 5 star hotel...she went above and beyond the call of duty. Simply amazing! Thirdly, the bed we slept in that night was perhaps the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The room also came with a fridge/freezer combo and a microwave (which we didn't use, but had we stayed for more than one night they would have come in very handy). Overall, this was one a great hotel which we will definitely be staying in the next time we're in San Francisco!
