I only stayed here one night, but this would be a great place to bring a family, and stay for several days. The 2-bedroom condo was clean and comfortable, loved the gas fireplace, comfortable bed, and the kitchen was handy. Access to the units is a little inconvenient -- lots of steps to go up and down, especially if you're on the back side. But the location is great, just outside Banff, and just a 3 minute drive to Canmore.

I called the hotel when I made the reservation and they informed me that the previous wifi problem had been solved. When I arrived, the in room wifi could connect but was so slow that it was unusable. The manager said that the wifi had been upgraded and worked well on his phone. But, the wfi access stopped from the room and was even slow in the lobby. One day the wifi did not work anywhere but I suspect they were upgrading the system. During the last 24 hours, the wifi was OK in the lobby but still unacceptable in the room. For two days we had to go to McDonalds in Banff to access the Internet. I trade stocks and there is daily maintenance of the account if one wants to succeed. But, the staff were so nice. I could tell that they were empathetic but the solution was out of their hands. The walls are thin. The parking lot was flooded.

The room was spacious and comfortable with a sitting space in addition to the bed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, etc. Only complaints: 1) Early wake up call not received as requested for first morning (good thing I was up already) 2) Very noisy kids running in the hallway the first night 3) Radio came on early on second morning (I did not set it) I would stay here again.

Situated in scenic Banff, this hotel is 2 miles from Mount Norquay Ski Resort. Upper Hot Springs is 2.2 miles from the hotel.

"the High Country Inn"
We stayed two nights, the carpet on balcony was a little worn, but the overall comfort of the room was very good.

"Hotel in Banff"
Hotel is a bit dated but relatively comfortable. Staff was great. The breakfast was only refined sugar and carbs of the worst kind. Location was perfect; right outside downtown Banff.
"Not recommended"
We had to wait for breakfast. Continental, but there was nothing when we arrived so we had to wait for a while for them to bring more! Not te cleanest place in the world either.

It was a very nice room with views of all the mountains. Quite and comfy.

Room was nice and modern with a fridge and tea kettle - essentials for the frugal traveler. Front desk staff was helpful with local information. Breakfast is not fancy, but included. Nice when everything in town is so expensive. Biggest complaint was internet. If they advertise free wireless, I expect it to work in my room. Not only was there no signal […] in the room, but coming to the lobby only got me a marginal signal and an un-useably slow connection. Staff was not very helpful and acted like I should just deal with it. We were counting on reliable internet to help plan more of our trip. Frustrating. Read more

"Rude Desk Clerk"
I have never before encountered such a rude desk clerk. When I approached the desk to check in, he shoved a sign in my face saying he would be back in five minutes and took off. Not one word of welcome. I would have cancelled my reservation on the spot if I could have. The hotel needs to give hospitality training to its employees. Nice location, breakfast was a good value (cereal, waffles, toast, and bagels), front desk was always very helpful, and rooms were fairly large - the fridge and large sink area were a plus. "Dont stay on first floor and bad wireless...."
I had stayed in this hotel before on the second level in a 2 bedroom, and it was great!! The wireless was working good, the rooms modern.......but this time I was there on my own and the room was fairly modern and at first I thought it was a great room for ease of going in and out.....well, it was NOISY, the wireless was so SLOW, the toilet didnt flush […] very well, and the batteries in remote died, and I had also booked in advance so did not even remember about paying for continental breakfast(and they didnt remind me at check in!) so I had missed the first morning and the second morning I was reading when check out was and noticed I had paid for it, so went, and it was not much at all...And if your a soy milk drinker, they dont have any!!!! So I dont think I'd stay again! Oh and not enough parking for everyone!!! You have to pay alot in Banff to get a nice hotel. Read more

Myself and two adult children (Ages 20 & 22 females) took a trip to Banff for the scenery and hiking. After long days of hiking we found the location of the hotel convenient to downtown, thus to the restaurants where we couldn't wait to get to to satisfy our tired bodies. The hotel was conveniently located on the main road in Banff. We walked downtown for dinner and shopping. The room was very nice. We especially liked the balcony where we sat in the evening. "High Country Inn in Banff - close to everything"
We were very satisfied with the service, cleanliness, location and friendliness of staff. We had an excellent sleep and a continental breakfast was included as well as free parking. Food, shopping and sights were all close by. We would recommend this hotel as a place to stay in Banff.
"Good Price"
The Hotel was comfortable. We really enjoyed the proximity to downtown and the shuttle service to Lake Louise right from the front door. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. My only grievences would be parking which was terrible - do not bring a pick up truck. Secondly would be the Hot tub. The hot tub was more like a luke warm bath.

The hotel was close enough to downtown to walk almost everywhere and there was plenty of underground parking. The room was fine and included a mini fridge which was convenient. I was sceptical and had read many reviews that were good and bad-people complained about everything from the rooms to the continental free breakfast-to the coolness of the pool water. I found everything wonderful from the lovely pool to the 2 hot tubs to the sauna-the room was terrific and the beds soo comfortable-The hotel is within walking distance […] to the town centre so we didn't need the car-they had free underground parking and the free breakfast was more than adequate-Great place great value and they even provided maps and directions for a great hike above the town.We didnt ski and the only bad thing was that skiers outside the room(ground floor) were very noisy and woke us up-but after 30 min or so we could go back to sleep and all was quiet again-we went to meet friends from England-and get some well needed rnr-thanks High Country! "Could have used some ongoing power"
Ive been to Banff about 30 times, and never stayed at the High Country Inn. I was plesently suprised with the cleanliness and decor at the hotel. How ever, i was really irritated when our power in our room kept going out, ( i mean everything tv included) and all we had on was 2 lights the TV and a blow dryer. (Power went off twice) We called the front […] desk and the lady seemed to be familiar with the problem and had the power back on in no time. Also i was not pleased with the breakfast at all... The Breakfast room was a bit dingy, (not as nice as the rest of the hotel) and the food wasnt very yummy at all, (bagels were hard) etc. we ended up going out for breakfast some where else. Read more

filled out the satisfaction card but did not hand it in upon check out, there was not a box to put it in. questions were: #1. Was the reservation was handled efficiently? a 5. #2. Did the check in occur smoothly? a 5. #3. Was the room clean? a 3. #4 Was the room well maintained? a 2. #5 Was the staff friendly and helpful? a 2. Did the High Country Inn […] meet my expectations? a 1. Back of the card was indicated for more info: dirty cups in rms, sticky food residue on tables in the rm and in the breakfast rm. Broken springs in chairs in the rm. curtains not on tracks properly making it very difficult to use, same for shower curtain. Continental breakfast not enough choices to have a balanced meal. Both diabetics & had to go out to eat a balanced meal. Moldy fruit in fruit bowl at breakfast. Dirty tables in breakfast rm, @ early time. Staff in general could use some customer service training. Questions were answered in a very curt manner. While the use of carts and equipment are necessary for cleaning staff to perform their duties, blocking the hallways with such is not. I was on crutches while staying there & I have done this type of work myself. Even a feigned attempt of consideration would have gone a long way. Main reason we choose to stay was the location and the fact that the continental breakfast was included. The breakfast was inadequate it was of little value to us. Would not recommend staying there. "High Country Inn"
This is an older hotel and the room we stayed in is in need of refurbishing and repair. The noise from the hallways and the surrounding rooms disturbed our sleep especially when the showers started in the early morning. The continental breakfast was adequate. The hot tub was not hot but the area was clean.

Awesome location, very close to the ski hills, and a walking distance to down-town Banff. Good breakfast provided and a great pool for children to enjoy themselves in.

When we arrived in the room the toilet still had the last persons pee in it. The pool chlorine levels were so high that my children had rashes on their bodies. and the hottub by the mens change room was so hot that no one could enter. The breakfast was good had it been refilled in a timely fashion.

I would recomment this hotel as it is in walking distance of the Banff townsite,shops, bars, etc. The hotel is a little dated in some area's but very clean. The hot tub's and pool are a very nice feature - along with a sauna. They offer a great breakfast that is beyond fresh and filling.

For a standard room I found the room to be comfortable with a lot of space to walk around in and get ready! Loved that we had a balcony and the front desk staff were awesome! Very accommodating and helpful! The continental breakfast here was also great, I haven't experienced one that good in a long time! Will definitely return to this hotel!
"Great Price and Location"
Stayed with my kids for a weekend of skiing. Had adjoining rooms. For the price really was great value and so close to downtown. Would stay again.

"Hotel HCI in Banff"
The service was great, updated need to be done, and house cleaning really needs to improve. Just take a second look before leaving a room and see what you think. And the chlorine leavels in the hot tubs were way to high.
