I had to wait an unreasonably long time to ask a simple question - oh, and I would have called down instead of appearing in the lobby if my phone had worked. Unlike Holiday Inn Express! (e.g. breakfast items were skimpy; no refrigerator in room when advertized; you will pay for parking 'surcharge' was not mentioned when I booked). Will not stay again.

So, I arrive at 8pm and there is a gang tyoe guy in the lobby trying to rent a room with cash. The hotek dies nit take cash and the two people at the desk are reachiing into thier jeans for change. The first room was dirty, the second room had limited working lights. The third room was OK, very small but at least it was clean. A quick five minute walk to surrounding nightlife. Staff was super friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Lighting so low, hard to read by. Worse, the lighting in the bathroon was so low, couldn't shave.

When we arrived, the room we entered had no drapes, no telephone and those were diiscovered after we hung up our clothes and put away our drawer items. They changed our room. I enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean, comfortable, and, despite what other reviewers have noted, quiet. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The complementary breakfast included biscuits, sausage patties, eggs, bagels, cream cheese, orange juice, cereal, and so forth. Only cons I can note were a used hand towel left in the bathroom - […] housekeeping must have not seen it, and the blowdryer in the bathroom didn't work (the plug looked to be fried) but I had packed my own. I can't help but compare it to the Hampton Inn I stayed in recently in downtown Baltimore, and paid approx. the same rate. HIE does not even compare....over-proced, one out of two elevators did not work and was very slow and crowded. Staff somewhat ambivalent. No fresh fruit at bkfst. I would've switched hotels if I weren't pressed for time. The lobby was not air-conditioned and only one of the two elevators was functional, but even that was horribly slow. I chose to walk up and down 7 flights of a narrow staircase to get to/from my room (I needed the exercise anyway). The lobby's faux marble counter looked like it hadn't been cleaned […] in days (oily finger prints galore). While signing my paperwork, I was praying I brought hand sanitizer. The room cleanliness was a pleasant surprise, but the bathroom was disappointing: a tiny shelf to place your toiletries. The mattress was too firm and "coily" for my taste. There's no free parking unless you're a "Priority Club Member". The tiny lower-level garage is sketchy (and relatively expensive). Not a bad place to stay if you are doing something in the area and are just looking for an affordable place to put your head. The neighborhood was a little sketchy - it is right next to a bus station and there were defintitely some seedy characters around. We had some issues with our bathroom light not turning on - it had a really strange switch, […] I've never seen one like it, and at one point we couldn't get it to turn on at all. At the time of the check-in, they did not realize that I was staying at the hotel, so they did not have a key-card ready for my room. My room was located at the bad side of the view, right next to the ice-vendor machine, so every time someone was getting an ice, can hear the rumbling sound of ice falling down. At night, there is a bar located right […] behind the hotel, loud music will kept me up at night. The curtains doesn't move, stuck with the light coming in from the bar. The next day, after coming back from work, none of my key-cards worked. I couldn't get into my room. Had to go back to the front desk, and asked why my card is not working. I think the man at the front-desk did not even check how long I was staying at the hotel, so he only had the key-card valid for the first day. I realized that when he asked when I was checking out. We picked this hotel because it was within walking distance from the Amtrack- it is literally right around the corner. The workers were very friendly and check in was quick. However, the bed was very uncomfortable- I could feel every spring in the bed. We called down for extra pillows and we were informed that they did not have any more. The pillows […] we were given looked they had been through the washing machine too many times- they were crumbly. The pillow cases were marked "firm" and "soft" however, they were all crumbly. The bathroom was very tiny. It had a pedestal sink so it was hard to do my makeup because there wasn't much room to put things. Also, the one outlet was on the opposite side of the room from the mirror (it's a small bathroom, but still the cord was then laying across the room). I don't think this hotel is worth the price. It's right across the street from Union Station, where the trains and buses from New York and Boston stop. The self service breakfast provided is of excellent quality. The room was clean. Wi Fi in every room and a small business center equipped with an online computer and printer. Other than the restaurant at Union Station, fhe few downtown restaurants […] are a good walk away. A convenient free shuttle bus is in operation downtown during the day. It's located across the street from the large park that includes the State capital buildings. Overall a very good experience. I stayed at this hotel overnight to take my PE the next day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. my room had a beautiful view of the capital building. The hotel was quiet. The only thing that bothers me is the $13 charge for parking besides that I was happy

The hotel was fine; the staff was great. Unfortunately, the hotel is located 2 blocks from a very loud bar, which played through 2am. Kept everyone in the hotel awake. And this was a week-day! The staff said that it is common both weekday & weekend.

This hotel is located amongst many bars and central to the late night crowds. The noise on the streets and sidewalks went on until 3 am while the partying spilled into the hotel by 2 am where people tried to get into our room, screamed up and down the halls and partied for hours until the police came. Fun restaurants and bars are just a block away, and you're an easy walk to the city center, and an easy drive to the Mark Twain house and museum. Just a quick one night stay with my family -- all was as expected. Liked the free breakfast in the morn and the staff was very helpful.

Absolutely all things were perfect! First of all, their location is ultra-convenient: the hotel is placed just two minutes walk from the bus and train station. Everything about this hotel was great. The staff was very helpful and courteous, they greet and talk to you in the halls and elevator, Check in and check out was quick and easy. The room was clean and warm. The breakfast selection had a good ample mix of hot and cold items. It was truly a great place to stay at a great price. My only complaint was […] finding out at the last minute there was a charge for parking. To the staff's credit, it was explained how every hotel's parking lot, in downtown Hartford, is run by a separate company that sets the rates, a fact not mentioned anywhere online. Parking is also used by patrons of the many bars and clubs in the area further complicating hotel guest parking. Although there's in and out privileges, I didn't like the look the parking attendant gave me as if I was trying to park for free until I strongly told him I'm staying at the hotel. The location, at the back portion of the hotel can be very noisy, with bars and clubs at the back end of the hotel, unless you use your air/heat fan, you are kept up late. I did ask fora quiet room, but I also did arrive late that evening. The management was very nice.

We stayed there for a birthday outing to the surrounding bars and clubs...it was conveniently located and extremely close.. couldn't have found a more affordable place in this area. The beds were uncomfortable and hard, there were hardly any linens blankets, the ones on the bed were very thin and grubby, housecleaning would only give us one extra towel... […] AND THERE WAS A PAIR OF DIRTY BLACK MENS UNDERWEAR left on the floor next to the bed, that we noticed upon entering the room! This hotel is not well maintained. The "free" shuttle took a really long time to arrive. The person in charge of the front desk does not seem to have a lot of experience with ensuring guests stay runs smoothly. Would not recommend.

Was in Harttford for Ozzfest, Great Location, Stayed Friday and Saturday night, Block Party, next door to the hotel Friday night, great assortment of bars/restraunts nearby. I am not really sure why this hotel is only 2.5 stars because it is nicer than many 3.5 stars I have stayed in. If you are going on Amtrak, on a bus or to the capital the hotel is in the best location. We had a great view, there are lots of restaurants close by and there was a free jazz concert across the street.

In spite of token staff efforts to "filter" the air, my non-smoking room smelled objectionably of cigarette smoke - as did elevators. Hotel is not "green" e.g. styrofoam breakfast "dishes", no effort to reduce laundering, incandescent lighting, etc.. Noisy neighborhood and loud guest room doors didn't help. I called hotels.com during a long trip up north to find a hotel along the way where my 12-year-old daughter and I could get a night's rest. I was recommended to stay at Holiday Inn Express Hartford because it was near the highway and met my price range. We had a car full of stuff, and bikes on the roof, and so when I arrived at the hotel to find that […] the only parking was an outdoor lot (that I had to pay extra for), I was frustrated because I realized that I would have to unload the entire car in order to feel safe about parking. We arrived very late, and I was tired, and not looking forward to having to do this. During the unload, I started to detect that the area where the hotel is situated seemed a little seedy at night, and I became weary of our safety. This concern became worse after I attempted to move my car closer to the entrance, only to be blocked by a car standing by the door. I asked the driver if he could move, who seemed like an unsavory character who became a little annoyed with me but did move. I notices later than this guy went into the lobby to socialize with the woman at the front desk. From that point on, I was worried about my car and my daughter and just wanted to check-in and not come outside until it was time to leave. I will say, however, that once inside of the hotel, the room was fine and on-par with the rate I paid. The wireless internet did not work (as advertised) though. I was also told by hotels.com that the hotel had a restaurant on premises which it certainly did not. Overall I was disappointed with the recommendation to stay here, because I could have had a similar or better experience in a cheap motel along the highway, and because if my expectations where set differently I would have been less surprised by what I experienced or may have chosen not to stay there. Vi var har bara en natt, men det var helt OK. Bra sängar, rent och snyggt. Frukosten var acceptabel. Nära till busstationen om man som vi anländer med buss vilket var ett plus.
