The hotel was very comfortable, and its location (near the "Southern Cross" (Spencer St.) station) was convenient. The pool was also nice - except that it closed unusually early (9pm). The biggest problem with the hotel was its WiFi - it wasn't free, and it had a data download cap! In the 21st Century, charging guests for Internet access is like charging […] guests for air conditioning! Also, data download caps are not acceptable! Shutting off a guest's Internet access after they have downloaded a certain number of bits would be like shutting off a guest's electricity because they had used a certain number of watt-hours. Instead, if necessary, impose a maximum bit rate, and don't allow guests to exceed that, but don't shut off a guest's access during their stay! Read more

Let me preface by saying, I have been here 3 times before without Issue. The hotel is fairly central, good for the location and cheap. This stay however... The Air Conditioner was broken, wouldn't turn on at all, but still managed to read out the temperature of the room to me at a whopping 28 degree at night.

We stayed here before an early morning flight out of Melbourne. The hotel is just a couple blocks from the bus station where you catch the Skybus express bus to the airport. Very good location, and even received free breakfast.

I spent 8 nights here and was reasonably happy. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the gym was quite nice, and there was a pool and sauna. Was a little upset as I purchased a week of the internet for something like $30 and found out after 2 days that I was capped at 750 mb, would have never purchased had I known this.

Used this room while attending a conference in Melbourne. Nice and clean hotel. Used the exercise room every day, and sometimes the pool too. The breakfast option is decent and fair priced for the area.

I had to grab a room here last minute just for an 8hr stay before catching a plane back to the US and it worked out perfectly. The hotel is across the street from the main bus and train terminal and SkyBus is right there too. Quick ride to the airport is inexpensive. I loved this place. You do have to do a bit of walking to find places to eat, but I knew it wasnt city center when I booked this. Im a walker, so I didnt mind this. You are right near the Southern Cross, which is nice, and many trams and taxis in the area. And, the area felt safe. I was coming back from concerts at Rod Laver at midnight and at no point […] was harassed or even saw any type of criminal activity. The only downside I found is that the breakfast bar wasnt complimentary like I thought. It costs extra ($11 per day) and all they had were eggs, toast, cereal juice and coffee. No breakfast meats or other options. But not bad, and it tasted good. Almost anything you want is nearby, like a grocery store, coveinance stores, souvineer shops, etc. And if you dont mind walking or taking public transportation to get further into the city, then you cant go wrong here. My trip was to see some shows at the Arena, so all I needed this place for was sleeping and holding my stuff. After a 10.5 hour drive from Sydney (the last hour in a nasty storm), all my partner and I wanted to do was relax in our room before heading out for dinner. Our 5th floor room key did not work, and after two elevator trips to the concierge, we still had no success. Both times the female employee didn't even apologise for the inconvenience. On the third […] trip back to concierge, a male employee accompanied me to our room, and third time lucky, we were able to get in. The room was tidy and clean but one of the bedside table lamps did not work, and a wire was sticking out from a hole in the ceiling where a halogen lamp should have been. As a result, there was not enough light in the room when we needed it. The shower could do with a shelf for toiletries, as only a soap holder is available. One would have thought that drinking glasses for water would be standard in any hotel, but not in this one. One of the two elevators was out of order for the 48 hours we stayed, and the hotel is located in the "blah" end of town. The seats in the lobby are impossible to sit in as they have no back support - I guess they don't want guests loitering there too long. My partner and I would not stay there again, even if someone else was paying. Read more

Convenient location with free city circle tram stop outside hotel. When I made my reservation, I requested a room with a view because it was my 1st visit. They gave me a Docklands/harbor view on the 14th floor! Hotel staff was nice & the room was large and clean. Would stay again if we return!

Stayed at Atlantis 5/5-5/10, was very convenient to take the SkyBus from MEL airport which took us to within a couple blocks of hotel. One block from the free tram around the CBD, parking for the days we had a rental was fair. Hotel looks as if it was very recently remodeled, our room felt brand new. We had a room on the 18th floor with a frosted window near the trash receptacle that ended up being noisy all night. There are apartments above apparently. Comfy beds though and it was clean. Staff were nice and friendly. Very good location.

There can be more facilities in the bathroom. There was no line to hang the clothes washed and no room to put personal belongings. Something can be done to give more room, e.g. the towels can be put on a rack erected on top of the water closet/bench top. No slippers were provided and the carpet in the room was rather dirty. I tried for the three days I was there and never was able to use the Internet. Atlantis is located at a convenient location which is few blocks away from town centre. You don't have to go thru so much traffic when you come off the highway from airport. The free tram is just across the road from the hotel, there are Coles across the road where you can buy your water, snacks etc which is a great deal cheaper than convenient stores […] or food court. The hotel has great view to the harbour and the harbour bridge from high floor zone. I would recommand this hotel to others who would want to stay in a proper hotel but do not require luxury services. They only provide continental breakfast and Lunch or Dinner. Read more

I recently spent a weekend in Melbourne and was very happy with the cleanliness and comfort of the Best Western Atlantis Hotel. It appears to have had a recent renovation and while my grandview room on the 13th floor was quite small, it was very comfortable and quiet. It did have a lovely grandview too - of Etihad Stadium, the Docklands and Bolte Bridge. […] The pool appeared well maintained also. My continental breakfast was included and was simple, not a lot of hot food available but certainly adequate - although a variety of fresh fruit would have been appreciated. The location is a double-edged sword however, as it is perfect walking distance when arriving via Southern Cross Station but is also in a more undesirable part of town (the area around King and Lonsdale Streets has a number of 'Men's Clubs'), but nonetheless it is well-serviced by trams and taxis around the city are plentiful. It was worth the money..walking distance to metro and shops. Underground parking was available & so we parked our car there for 2 days of our stay and went walking or by metro rail which is right across from the hotel. Nothing great about the rooms, pretty standard.
