The hotel was very clean, convenient to all attractions the hotel was very busy with a wedding. The breakfast needs some improvement! The staff was great but the food was so so. Overall we would give this hotel two thumbs up!

Our family room was very spacious by European or American standards and included two twin beds and one full/queen bed. The windows could be opened for fresh air. The only item I would have enjoyed was a regular shower curtain rather than the small glass panel, but it was do-able. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was perfect--easy […] walk to Kilkenny Castle, restaurants and shops. Very talented young musicians and dancers happened to provide a free concert in the hotel on a Friday evening. Parking garage (no extra charge) was just across the street. The street on which the hotel is located is not easily seen from the main street as there is a slight offset with a building that blocks the view. Had a room with a double and twin bed. Larger room than expected. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Kilkenny Castle is 2 blocks away and Black Abbey and St Canice is in walking distance. Shopping area is around the corner. Car park is across the street. Rooms near the pub can be noisy. There is no A/C.

A few issues with the hotel service including not serving us dinner because they decided to close the kitchen early. Also the misleading title of "pillow-top" mattresses. Nothing about them felt like anything but outdated and cheap springs covered in fabric. The alley its located is is shady at times and hard to get to. Most of our review can be found relating to the various issues surrounding check-in, the poor communication with reception, and the uncomfortable rooms themselves. However, there's a fair bit more to be said about the "Ormande". Be warned: the free included breakfast is in fact a full irish breakfast buffet. Yet, the staff seems to interpret "buffet" […] to mean, "no service provided." It took a fair bit of work to get the included tea, coffee, and toast. And this disconnect seems to capture the spirit of this establishment. For example, the staff was unable to provide clear directions to any of the sites, but were happy to provide a standard map, without street names, and an "x" marking an undisclosed location. There is a general sense that the staff may be unhappy working here, and that makes the stay for a guest much less pleasant. For another last example, we just abandoned efforts to make use of their alleged "24 hour room service"; the room service attendant was unable to communicate the "soup of the day" or "sandwich options". To be completely fair-- the gym and the pool are lovely. And in the end, the staff did upgrade our room to something inhabitable, despite making us feel that the request was irrational, unfounded, and in bad form. They do seem to be busy with weddings; perhaps they are not as used to the everyday traveler. There do seem to be a number of very nice hotels down the street. Good luck. Read more

Staff are very good in reception. We were home at around midnight and I can honestly say it was my worse night sleep in a hotel ever. The noise in the corridors from other guests went on/off till 5am. Doors banging people shouting. A porter should walk the corridors to ensure people are quiet. I visit Kilkenny once a month and this hotel is best for location and value. It is bang in the centre and everything is within walking distance. The rooms are huge, modern and comfy! Guaranteed a great nights sleep! The staff are friendly and very helpful! The spa is great for curing a hangover. I'd recommend this hotel

Dreasful hotel. Stayed here 6 nights. Room was in the roof, stiflingly hot. Hotel disco and weddings 4 nights out of 6 meant no sleep. The toilet was not cleaned for 4 days and no brush provided to do it yourself. Breakfast was ok but very short staffed.

Stayed here for only one night just to get out of Dublin for the night. The hotel was great. We booked a room last minute and the hotel didn't have our reservation when we first got there. They were more than accommodating and found us a room in spite of the hotel being very busy that night. (They eventually did find our reservation.) The room was great... […] very comfortable. They have great amenities there - full breakfast, two restaurants/ bar, pool, spa, parking, room service, etc. - I wish I could have stayed longer to take advantage of everything. The location was great too - walking distance to everything in town. I would love to stay here again and definitely recommend it to other travelers. Me and my wife were very happy with this hotel! Beautiful, very well located at walking distance of everything including the castle, clear, Internet, etc. I couldn't ask for more and the price was good. Parking is across the street and hotel charges only 5 or 8 Euros, I don't even remember. Good service and we'd go back there without even thinking.
