Booked on hotels.com for $160, my double was bumped up to a queen. ground floor front, but not noisy. a little warm (in January) for my taste, so probably just right for most people. nice breakfast. very clean room and helpful, polite staff. highly recommended.

On a one-night stay in London, we chose to stay at the Windermere Hotel. From the start, our experience was great. When we arrived (they allowed a late arrival) we were assisted by the front desk attendant. He provided us with a small map of the area and sites close to the hotel and also a larger map of the greater area of London, both of which proved […] to be very helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was one of the best that we had while in Europe. The staff was very helpful in providing us with what we wanted/needed. Also, because check out was at 11am and we were not leaving London until later on that night, they offered to store our luggage at no additional cost for as long as we needed so that we could go enjoy the sites of London. We stayed here on the last day of our trip. We were tired of travelling and lugging suitcases and had an unpleasant hotel on the prior leg of our trip. When we got to the Windermere, it was like finding an oasis in the desert. We were very pleased with every aspect of our stay, although we only stayed one night.

Our room was quite small, which is to be expected in any big city. Our "double" bed felt more like a 3/4; we had to exercise great care when turning over so as not to fall! The Windermere is a very nice, small hotel with a friendly, helpful staff on duty 24/7. Our room and ensuite were both bigger than we expected them to be, and decorated beautifully. It's only a five-minute brisk walk to Victoria Station, which lets you connect with all the major city-center sights by tube. The staff recommended some nice places to eat […] in the area. No complaints except we were first told the wrong password for the wifi. It would be nice if a small fridge was in the room. Excellent breakfast and nice family hosts. There is a small newsstand store one block away where you can buy a few snacks, etc. Also a pub nearby. Other restaurants near Victoria station, a five-minute walk away.

This is a lovely little hotel. The breakfast was great. The room was small, but cute and clean. There is no air conditioning. Fortunately we didn't need it this trip but in the future might. The staff was very helpful in finding good places for us to eat. The location is hard to find from Victoria Station. Overall we were happy with it.

Perfect location! Off the beaten path, but so accessible to all things London! I was there for the Olympics and sight seeing so I didn't think that I really cared about quality of the hotel. But, once I was there, the Windermere actually turned out to be a pleasant surprise!

We were in a family room but it was really, really tiny! Barely enough room to move around to get to the (tiny) bathroom with 3 large suitcases in the way. Just be prepared for a BIG DIFFERENCE between what you get in a 4 star hotel in America and what you get in Europe. Pluses are that the breakfast was very substantial and everything was very clean. […] Staff also very helpful. The hotel was in a really great location for getting around London. Close to Victoria station with restaurants nearby. It just seemed overpriced for what we got, but I guess that is because of our exchange rate: Everything in London was just SO EXPENSIVE from the price of restaurant meals, souvenirs and admissions to various attractions. I never thought I would have to pay to see a church (Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral)! But all government-sponsored museums are free...go figure! Read more

Loved it, especially loved the helpful, warm staff and how clean everything was. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the location was very good. The rooms are small but it is Europe so I expected that and you can't avoid some stairs even with the new elevator but I would come again and recommend it to anyone!

This hotel is in the Westminster District, but is quite a long walk to Victoria tube station. The personel were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very nice. We also enjoyed dinner one evening in their small resturant. The room itself was very small with a tiny bathroom and a very uneven floor. Our room was on the third floor and although there was an elevator we still had to climb down 4 steps and then up another 4 steps to get to our room after taking the elevator to 3rd. Hotel was more of a bed and breakfast. Location was great. Short walk to the tube and we found a few neighborhood restaurants that we liked. Front desk staff was superb! We arrived at 8:00 AM and left our bags with the hotel staff while we explored london until our 3:00 PM check-in time. Hotel staff were all very helpful. The included breakfast was quite good, a buffet selection plus eggs, sausage and bacon cooked to order. The management and staff were excellent and most attentive. The location if wonderful and easy for transportation or walking. Best elevator we have found in a small European hotel. On Thanksgiving the restaurant offered a special Thanksgiving meal which was delightful. Would absolutely recommend.

We can not recommend this hotel as highly as recommended by hotels.com. The room was so small that it was impossible to find enough room to open 2 suitcases. The sink was in the bedroom next to the entry door which opened to the main hallway giving no privacy. The bathroom is so small you literally do not have enough room to walk in front of the toilet […] to get in the shower (total area including shower floor is 3X5 feet). The Victoria station is the closest tube and is over 1/2 mile away and takes 15 minutes to walk to, but is in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The best attributes of the Windermere were the front desk is manned by a very helpful and friendly staff 24 hours a day and the included breakfast was very good. This hotel is for the individual who likes a quaint, dainty and off the beaten track B&B. Read more

The young man at the desk was most helpful in getting us tickets to the Buckingham Palace saving us a long line when we reached there. He also helped us book our aisle seats on the airplane 24 hours before flying which was wonderful. The breakfast was very good and varied menu. We enjoyed our stay.

There is a new lift, but we only used it when taking our luggage up and down at the beginning & end of our stay.
