I had previously stayed at the Crowne for a past trip and enjoyed it so much that I refused to stay anywhere else when making this last trip to New Orleans. Had I known that I would be thoroughly disappointed with the hotel staff and my experience I would have reconsidered my choice completely. When we arrived there was not enough check-in staff, which […] caused a long line of guests checking in and out and not enough room for the steady flow of other guests entering and leaving the lobby. We were then sent up to a room which not only had one bed instead of two but had another guests belongings as well. We then had to come back down from the 12th floor and be sent to another room. Later in the evening, I accidentally locked my key in the room and spent 25 minutes arguing with the desk clerk on what room number she had me in versus the room I was actually in. There was a time I felt like the desk clerk expected me to sleep on the curb instead of verifying that my luggage was in the room I said it was in. When requesting a cab, my party ended up flagging down our own because there was only two valets truly working. Overall, if I was judging the hotel on location and cleanliness it was fantastic, but after dealing with such rude and unaccommodating hotel staff I will not be staying at the Astor Crowne Royal Plaza and will certainly not be referring anyone else either. "could have been better"
I can't say I was thrilled with the rooms at the Crown Plaza. For the price I paid one would expect not to find a dirty towel hanging on the bathroom door or someone else's clothes left behind in the drawer. Not to mention, they never told us that Valet doesn't work on Sunday's which meant it took almost 45 minutes to get the car when it was time to […] check out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to all must see sights"
great hotel, staff was extremely helpful and friendly, i even left my sunglasses in my car ans the valet went and retrieved them for me!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful hotel, yes but it took over an hour standing in line to check in. Only had three people checking guests in and the line was out of the building. No place to drive in to have valet take your car. it is on Canal street, one of the busiest streets in NOLA, so the traffic very heavy and you have to creep along canal street to get your turn at […] the valet, once more you wait. Then, when checking out, you must board a shuttle that takes you to your car about a mile at a parking garage! It was pouring down rain the day we left and it was very inconvenient as shuttle parked no where near the parking garage so we were soaked to the core. Pretty hotel but all the rest made it our last stay there :( Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Gateway to Bourbon Street"
I've stayed at this hotel multiple times for its convenience to Bourbon St and the French Quarter. Although waiting to park the car with valet may take some time, you can't beat its proximity and walking distance to the attractions that the area has to offer. Despite getting inconsistent housekeeping every day, overall, our stay was pleasant. Plus, […] the Bourbon House, an excellent restaurant, is located within the hotel. Otherwise, for a less expensive meal option, Krystals is right around the corner for the late night munchies. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The check in process was horrid. There was a line out the door for hours. Lambrache was terrific once we finally got to her.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
GREAT LOCATION! At the end of bourbon st., all of the city blocks are small so walking wasn't an issue. The parades for Mardi Gras went right in front of our hotel as well. We had great customer service and would stay here again for sure!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location, rooms, and price was perfect! Check-in and check-out process was terrible. I would stay again but will not use valet services next time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst hotel experience ever!"
Horrible! Horrific! We arrived at 3:48pm. We waited in a line until after 6:00pm to check in. Traveling with 4 minors we were assured of an adjoining room. At check in we were given our "adjoining" rooms which were on opposite sides of the hall. The front desk people were completely unresponsive. Asking for the managers help was answered by a coupon […] for $20 off breakfast--from the manager. Because we used Hotels.com, they told us there was nothing they could do. Front desk would never answer phone nor were we able to call for our car. An hour wait after check out for our car to be brought from parking. The incompetence was astounding! "Good but Not Great"
Took about an hour to check in because there was a line circling around the lobby. Staff was friendly. Hotel is conveniently located on Canal St. and French Quarter. Could not sleep well due to constant traffic of people stomping and yelling in hallway. But I guess that's not the hotel's fault. Room was not vacuumed before we checked in. Food crumbs […] were left from previous guest never got vacuumed up. I give it a 3.5 stars. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was very impressed with the hotel and our room. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel was fantastic! Great location for easy walking to all main attractions. "Great Location - Dont bring a car!!"
The hotel was a great location, however, the subcontract firm that is responsible for the vehicles was very subpar and made for a very limited experience in the rain. The front desk personnel were always full of customers and when a request for engineering was submitted, no one came. A second and third request was required for a response. For this to […] be a Crowne hotel, I was very surprised by the lack of attention to the customer. On the day that we left, two individuals cursed us out as we left the front door, calling my wife a "wh***". I was not impressed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"perfect location for the French Quarter"
We had a very comfortable stay at this hotel. The location can't be beat. Just outside the door is access to both the Charles St and Canal Street cable cars. You are at the end of Bourbon, so you won't get lost after a night of drinking on Bourbon street. The hotel and rooms are very nice and updated. Staff was also very friendly (at least the bells, […] maids and concierge were friendly. Front desk, not so much). would book again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Customer Service is a foreign term"
The only thing the Crowne Plaza has going for it is the location right next to Bourbon St. The check in process took over an hour. The room itself was ok. If I would have paid more than the $80/night price that I happened to get it for, I would have been disappointed. Avoid valet parking which will cost you $34/night and they park it at a $20/night […] garage. When you're ready to check out, the valet pick up process is getting you on a shuttle bus and bringing you to the $20 garage.....and that took over an hour. Overall, you get what you pay for so if you're staying at this Crowne Plaza, hopefully you'll get a deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Never stay here again!"
First thing to know is that this hotel only has valet parking which isn't unusual in New Orleans. The problem is that this hotel is on Canal street which is very busy. We waited in line in our car on Canal street for 45 minutes before we could even reach the valet stand. We then had to rush to get our things out of the car as there was even a longer […] line of cars behind us. We then walk in to a very lovely lobby to only find a line of well over 100 people to check in to the hotel. We waited another hour and a half to get a room. As we waited in line, a nice concierge apologized, but that was it. They didn't offer the 100 people in line water or anything. We finally arrive to room to find that out ac wasn't working. I will say the engineer was very nice and was there promptly. About an hour later the toilet broke so engineering came again. Our room was right next to the elevators so you could hear the elevators moving all night. And you could hear all the kids coming home from their parties in the middle of the night. If you don't want to hear it I recommend requesting a room away from the elevator. On our last day we went to get our car from valet. They were not there. Our option was a shuttle to the parking garage and get it ourself. $34 a night for valet and we had to get our own car. Overall, very unorganized, poorly laid out in canal street for large crowds. The engineer and concierge were very nice. We will not stay there again because it is a logistical nightmare. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It took hours to check in. The line was ridiculously long and slow! After a while, a representative came along to get the process going a little quicker. Eventhough we encountered this problem, the stay was great! We loved the convenience to Bourbon Street! We would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a really bad experience, especially with the parking situation!!! One afternoon I had to wait in line over an hour just to pull up to the hotel for them to park my car. Would not recommend staying at this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the quality hotel I expected"
I was extremely disappointed with the guest services staff. Extremely unfriendly. Once we arrived to the room, the room was not as clean as I expected. The carpet was dirty and the night stand was not cleaned. The bathroom had hair from the previous guest. Worse of all, the valley parking ONLY. Besides, the $34.00 a day fee, get ready to wait for your […] car. Since most of the guest use the mandatory valley parking, you will wait for a long time to get your car, specially in the morning. Calling ahead helped but we still waited over 20 minutes. Seriously, Crowne Plaza has work to do. Starting with training the front desk staff to be pleasant to all guest. Awesome stay for mardi gras. Hot water went out but they fixed it later that day. Didn't clean the room one day after we request with a phone call when we slept in and missed first cleaning. Really clean. Awesome location. Well worth the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not really valet service."
Only problems were the temperature unit was not working well and the room stayed at 68 the whole time. We also paid for valet service, only option available, and when we checked out we had to take a bus to our car in the garage they had them in. I paid for valet so I expect to get my car in front of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Built for giants who sleep on rocks."
The staff were LOVELY wonderful people. The location was a little close to Bourbon for me, there was always a circus out front. It was Mardi Gras and they did very well over all. I am sure they were full so the stacking up of room service trays in the halls was maybe to be expected. We had 2 people and we got 1 shampoo and 1 conditioner each day. For […] almost 200 a day I thought 1 each would have been nice. But we had to buy our own. Also eating there is a real hassel. The worst is the Beds. I am 5'3" and I literally had to climb into bed. I had to use a hasseck to climb up on to get into bed. My friend started calling me the imp. If play basketball, this is the place for you. Then the mattress was extremely hard. If you like that great, I was in pain and had a hard time sleeping. This is my second stay at a crowne and they do have friendly staff. but they are middle of the road clean, cheap about toiletries, and uncomfortable beds. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Perfect location if you want to go to Bourbon St or walk down Canal st. to the ferry. IHOP right next door, clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Only thing I could complain about is the fact that I was unable to find regular parking, tried to go into a public parking garage around the corner where a man said they didn't deal with the Crown Plaza, […] so I ended up paying $34 a night for valet. "Perfect location - friendly staff"
There's no better place to be for Mardi Gras than right on the corner of Bourbon and Canal - loved it! The staff was very friendly and even let us check in a few hours early with no charge - something we couldn't have appreciated more after traveling all morning!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ugh. What a disappointment."
I called ahead the day of our check in to see if our room was ready. No one answered...the phone just kept ringing. I tried to call THREE times at different times of day and never got an answer. Then we arrived...we were charged $34 to park our car overnight (you must use their valet service) which is exorbitant, considering the two times we needed […] to pick our car up it took over thirty minutes each time to get it. Noticed that they leave the lobby doors wide open 24/7 so anyone can just walk in off the street, which I didn't like. Our room was clean enough...weird spot in the tub/shower combo and the fixtures in the bathroom were rickety. Beds were comfortable but the blanket was stained...ew. We moved to the other bed. Even the TV service was spotty, kept going in and out randomly and sometimes the TV would just turn off. You couldn't call down to the valet parking desk to let them know ahead of time that you wanted your car. I asked a manager about this and he just brushed me off, didn't seem to want to talk to his guests. At 8 AM every morning we were there, a woman would knock on our door and loudly yell "HOUSEKEEPING HOUSEKEEPING" until you answered the door--even if the "Do Not Disturb" sign was on the handle. We asked the front desk to tell them to stop this, but it continued each morning. 8 AM seems a bit early for this. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel--parking an issue"
The hotel itself is extremely nice, clean, and comfy. The staff was courteous and friendly. The Bourbon House restaurant in the hotel is a nice place to have a drink and/or grab a bite. The only real drawback is the valet parking. It took nearly 40 minutes for us sitting in our car at the corner before a valet finally got to us and we could check in. […] Also, getting the car back took 15-20 minutes. So the parking is a bit inconvenient and it also costs a good bit per day to park. That being said, you may not need your car if you plan on visiting around the French Quarter, CBD, or Garden District (need a street car for the latter). If you get a good deal, this is definitely a good option to stay in New Orleans. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The only good thing about the hotel is the location. When we got to the hotel our room wasn't ready finally got the keys to our room around 5pm We got to the room and looks like somebody dropped some pizza on the carpet looked like pizza sauce and cheese. The beds are way too hard to sleep on. The thermostat would not go over 65 and temp outside was […] in low 30s woke up several times through the night cause it was cold. Got another room so now each couple got their own room and there is a black footprint in the middle of the bed good thing we had another bed in the room. So makes me wonder how often they change those sheets? And for the price of the room at around $300 + tax a night cause it was Mardi gras i think we deserve better service. "Worst Hotel Stay Ever"
The staff was very unfriendly. A group of friends and I were staying for Mardi Gras and they made everyone on the reservation get wristbands. Unfortunately, only 2 people were on the reservation so they required everyone else to purchase $20 wristbands just to get up to the hotel room that I had already paid for. People were standing around ready to […] check wrist bands but no one was ready to help. "How to treat a guest badly"
Handed out wrist bands to enter and leave hotel.... Ummm, ok.... Left mine at the table at the restaurant. $20 for a new one. After checking in, my room key did not work. Went back downstairs and was told to go to the back of the line in a most impolite manner to where I was humiliated. The carpet was badly stained and the desk chair was broken. Due to the carnival season there weren't other options. "Business during Mardis Gras"
I had a nice stay the only issue was those wrist bands. I came down to collect one on Thursday and they told me I had to wait in the check in line and even said. "You don't want these people to think you cut in front of them do you?" Honestly I couldn't care less what they thought. That's pretty ridiculous to try and make me feel guilty for picking […] up my wrist band ahead of them checking in. I had been checked in for 4 days! I don't understand why they couldn't just you know grab a wrist band and hand it to me no need for me to "Cut in front of anybody" I just left and came back later which would have been a much better suggestion over me waiting behind ten people checking in. "Can't Beat the Location"
This hotel was close to everything in the Quarter, clean, and comfortable. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because the staff was so lackadaisical.
