Me and my family stayed here for two nights. The cleaning service wasn't that good, the hotel is a little bit old but it has a nice lobby. Good stay at the Crown Plaza which is centrally or conveniently located to Bourbon Street. The street cars are in front of the Hotel and easy to use. All of the hotel staff were professional, courteous, and helpful. As for parking, we found out through a staff member that there is cheaper parking than the valet service out front during check-in. "could be better"
We stayed on the seventh floor, the view was horrible. Our window was faced out to the air conditioners on the rooftop. No city/street view what so ever. We noticed a few sugar ants in the bathroom corners and a couple on the phone in the room. Initially the sink in bathroom wasn't draining, it was “stuck”. "Service was just not there"
We check in at 5 pm. Waited 20 minutes in street to valet car. Car lines just were not moving. Check in was great. I'm handicapped in a cart on oxygen. Room was great, but did not have a tv remote. Called down three times. Finally at 10:45 I ride down to front desk and complained. Soon after a lady knocks on the door when a remote. No entertainment […] in my room all evening. The front desk people were distracted and not incredibly friendly and the valet service is inefficient given the volume of cars coming in and out coupled with lack of space to perform their duties. Rooms extremely large, comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly, efficient and professional. Located on corner of Bourbon and Canal Streets, so all French Quarter sites very close and accessible by walking. Only negative is wait in car (about 20 min) to approach hotel in traffic lane can be tedious and a little disconcerting as you wait your turn […] to finally reach curb of hotel where a bellhop comes out to help you unload you car onto rolling luggage cart. Registration at front desk is quite efficient, as well as, bellhop bringing luggage up to your room. Also expect a 30-45 minute wait to have your car brought back out. The first thing we did was checked our car in at the valet. The valet service was a little confusing because it is directly on Canal street and there was a ton of traffic and people checking in/out of hotel needing valet services. After we checked our car, we proceeded into the hotel to check in. The lobby is beautiful! We were able to get right up […] to the counter and get our room keys. The room was on the 12th floor and we had a little view of Bourbon street, and a really pretty street next to Bourbon. There was nothing extraordinary about the room, but it was very clean so I was happy. We had two queen beds, the mattresses were a little too hard for my liking, but the pillows were big and fluffy so that was nice. The room had plenty of towels, soaps, and shampoo/conditioners so we never needed to ask for extras. Check out was just as easy as check in, we paid for parking at check out (about $35.00/day). Make sure to call the Valet before you check out though, so that your car is ready when you are. The Valets are so busy, and we didn't know to call ahead of time so we ended up waiting about a half hour for our car. When you see the amount of people/traffic they deal with though you'll understand why it takes so long. Over all it was a great experience and I would definitely stay at the Crowne Plaza again. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for one night on the way home from a long family visit. We traveled with of five year old son, so it was nice to be close to the excitement of New Orleans, but not right in the middle of the loud crazy night time stuff. The ottoman with the arm chair had cracked and peeling vinyl, and the bath tub faucet dripped, and the tub had a bad worn spot where the white ceramic had come off and you saw the black metal. Overall, the hotel was nice, in a good location, had great staff, and was clean. One thing to note, though, is we learned the hotel uses the public lot further up Canal St for the valet parking. "Potential not realized"
So to start off there are some very promising aspects of this hotel. The location is prime, and very clean with a competent bar staff. However the first thing when we pulled up to the valet on canal is that they clearly could not handle the amount of vehicles pulling up. So my car was stuck on canal for quite some time. After this experience we checked […] in fairly quickly surveyed the room and then headed out for the night. On my wife’s purse was stolen out of the hotel room. I am not implying that it was the hotels fault merely that crime is rampant in this hotel. Additionally if your wallet is stolen out of the hotel do not expect them to try and make any restitution on that stolen wallet. So after the wallet was stolen we asked to be moved into a new room which they complied with, but the room we were moved into had no running water. Finally after all is said and done it took a considerable amount of time for them to retrieve my car when we tried to leave the next day. All said and done if you had to stay at this hotel keep your personal belongings on you and be suspicious of everyone.
