This hotel is a prime location if you are looking to stay right on the beach or lounge near the pool. The rooms and property are outdated but still sufficient. We enjoyed our time.

My husband and I are in our 70's. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel and room were. It was somewhat dated but nice. The flat screen TV didn't work, but was fixed as soon as we reported it. We were on the third floor and had a nice side view of the ocean from our balcony. We could also see college kids partying on a rooftop several buildings […] down. It was more amusing than anything else. No noise. Speaking of college kids this is their area. You see lots of them on skateboards and bicycles which was fun. They were always polite. The first night we walked along the sidewalk out front. There's lots of shops and restaurants along with the beautiful beach. Be prepared to pay $18.00 per night for underground parking. You also have to pay for breakfast. We went the first week in May. It was too cold for swimming (70 degrees). Overall we really enjoyed our stay as we were more into sightseeing than swimming. In July & August this would be a really nice swimming beach, but no lifeguard. Read more

The employees were nice, but I was a little frustrated that I had to pay for parking per day that I was staying in the hotel and there was not clenaing service done in my room during my stay. Not even fresh towels for the next day. this is not a place that I would stay at again. For the price that I paid for this room and the service that I expected. […] I know it was not a Hilton but at least change the sheets and fresh towels and some more coffee for the next day would have been nice. This hotel is very nice the rooms were clean beds are comfy the balcony is great because you can see the beach and its right off the beach which is a plus... There were only a few bad things but won't keep me from staying again the walls are a little thin, very small parking spaces and the hotel is not connected to the other part of the hotel so you […] have to walk across the alley to get to the pool and other rooms. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were large and comfortable but they and the hotel generally were a little run-down compared to my usual business hotels, like any other CA beach hotel I've been at. Mattresses were hard. We had a room overlooking the street, which was fine for us, but you can get rooms right overlooking the beach […] if you care. Decent pool and hot tub right off the beach. We were there at spring break and the scene in the neighborhood was comfortable for my family of young teens and generally easy to enjoy - good places to eat nearby. We had a wonderful time. Once you get to the hotel you don't have to drive anywhere. Everything you need is right there by the hotel. The rooms were great you could see the ocean from all rooms and listen to the waves. The employees were great help with everything they had great suggestions on local dining. Great location right on the boardwalk and beach. Many restaurants within walking distance. Rent a bike from the hotel and ride to La Jolla. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and most have ocean views.

Returned for Spring Break with my 2 granddaughters, ages 5 & 6, This time their dad came for part of the week. We love this hotel; it is, above all SAFE, convenient, and perfect for our needs. The World Famous restaurant across the street provides 4 different dining times (bfst, lunch, "tapas" from 3-5, and dinner). The food is excellent and the price […] is extremely fair. The street between us is always quiet at night as there are no honky-tonks to attract boistrous crowds. We enjoyed our stay at the BW Blue Sea Lodge. The room was very comfortable, plenty big for a couple and had a terrific King size bed and great pillows that made for a very restful night's sleep. Everything in the room worked as it should and the WiFi was lightening quick on our devices. We found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable about the area […] and had useful direction sheets available to local attractions as well as discounts to the same. We didn't use the pool or the sauna but both were spotless. The beach stretches north and south in front of the property with a shop and restaurant lined beachfront to enjoy all right out the hotel door. Thumbs up to the Blue sea Lodge, we'd stay there again. We had a horrible drive from phoenix to san diego, one of those everything that can go wrong did go wrong experiences. When we arrived at about 11 am we stopped by the hotel to inquire about the check in time and parking. Amazingly they let us check in right then at no additional charge. Amazing since the hot shower I took changed my entire mood and […] maybe saved our vacation. Sometimes it's the little things. This hotel is full of those little things. Like walking through the lobby at night I sadly mentioned to my boyfriend that they must only have the cookies during the day. The guy behind the desk said "no i just made some, they are cooling in the back" and proceeded to bring us out 4 hot cookies. I felt pampered and it felt like an expensive hotel. It is expensive and it actually treats guests like they deserve for the price point. I usually stay at 130-160 per night hotels. This hotel treated us like we deserved for price point. It is right on the water so cheaper than many alternatives. The room itself was nice and very very clean. Linens and etc were a tad worn but clean and stain free and everything smelt freshly laundered including the cover for the comforter. The Heat/ AC unit has a slight rattle which we fixed by unclipping the cover. We would definitely stay here again because of the attention to detail the spotless bathroom and the PERFECT customer service. Seriously your staff is great. They made all the difference. Read more

Receptionists were great! Very friendly, made me feel welcome right off the bat! Hotel is right on the beach, great view. Heated pool. Visited during winter so crowds were thin, no noisy neighbors. Great stay!

We went for Thanksgiving -6 adults, 3 kids. Rooms were all on the 2nd floor with ocean views. Secure hotel parking with an elevator. Old hotel but nicely updated - furniture is still dated - who cares? We came for the beach and it was wonderful! 2 rooms had mini kitchens with sink. All had refrig and microwave. All had balconies. This is a great hotel, perfect location, friendly and helpful staff and nice swimming pool and spa which was almost 'infinity' looking as it looks as if you are on the beach! - Our only complaint was the terrible TV selection -theres is only one channel for kids Cartoon Network which by 6pm shows cartoons unsuitable for kids, there is not Nickolodean, […] no Nick Jr, - so if you bring kids, make sure you fill your IPAD up...... - ignoring that - we had a great stay and would recommend this place - just bring your own TV!! Our family had 3 partial ocean view rooms for 2 nights. The rooms were nice and clean with new carpet and comfortable beds. They weren't fancy rooms but the location was incredible! Right on Pacific Beach and surrounded by little cafe' and stores. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We plan to return there in a couple of years for a reunion.
