This is an aging hotel located right on the beach in San Diego. You walk out of the hotel and you're on the boardwalk. The rooms are a bit small. The rooms with an Ocean view are updated but small. The pool, hot tub, and patio have a great view. The view of the sunset from this hotel is fabulous. I recommend this hotel. There are dozens of good restaurants within a couple of blocks (Tony Romas 50 feet). The beach is 10 feet away. The boardwalk may be too much for some people, but it's just right for me....

My stay was wonderful. I had a full ocean view room that was a dream come true. The furniture on the balcony was comfortable and the view amazing. My room was immaculate and in good repair. The ammenities were plentiful and the bed the most comfortable I have slept on in a hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Even though my trip was during spring break the noise level was not a problem unless you count the surf and thats why I chose to be on the beachfront. The pool/jacuzzi area were kept clean and the area was gated. I would absolutely stay again and recommend to others.

The Hotel was fine but we called to the front desk on Friday night starting at 4:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. due to rowdy college students staying in the two rooms next to us. We asked to be moved to another room but the hotel was booked so they couldn't move us. We asked that our first night be comped for the inconvenience and no sleep, but they said they could not do that becaue we booked our room through hotels.com. On Saturday afternoon they moved us to another room and up a floor. We finally got sleep on saturday night. However, I do not recommend staying by a beach during spring break with kids.

We got to this hotel at night and the parking lot is down a tiny alley. I didn't want to leave my car there, I worried about it all night. It wasn't well lit and with this hotel so close to the beach there seemed to be a lot of nightlife and people up all night. I wouldn't consider this a family hotel, I didn't see any children anywhere. Our partial view was very good of the beach and pool. The parking fee is ridiculous, even though I knew about it ahead of time. I also hate that there is no breakfast. Tony Roma's room service is a good thing, bring cash.

Overall we were quite pleased with this hotel. The location was great. Beautiful beach, and walking distance to a variety of restaurants. The room itself was a little small, but not bad. Quality was about what you'd expect in just about any Best Western - not luxurious, but decent. Time to upgrade the TV...it was old and not a very clear picture. One other negative: the hotel charges a daily rate for parking.

This hotel has a perfect location right in the middle of Pacific Beach. There is nothing fancy about the hotel, definitley not a "resort", but it is really great. We had an ocean view room that was upgraded to a suite becasue they were over booked, which was great! The rooms are decorated nicely with flat screen TV and all have balconies over looking the beach. Waking up in the morning to the sounds of the ocean was amazing! There are two buildings - one on the street and one on the beach. The back building on the street is noisy, and the balconies have solid cement half walls so you can't sit and look out - you have to stand. The front building on the beach, on the other hand, has balconies with wood slats so you can sit and look out, and the rooms surround the pool or look out directly to the ocean - much better. We booked a standard room and ended up in the back building. Pay the extra and get the ocean view, then call the hotel and make sure you have booked in the correct building. The neighborhood is young and fun. You can walk forever along the beach on the boardwalk in both directions from this hotel. There are some cute little places to eat and drink along the way.

I stayed at the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge on the weekend of April 26th; the hotel is conveniently located near many of the bars and restaurants. My only discontent was that you had to wake up early to reserve a decent location to tan in the pool area. My comforter had some unknown hairs on it that weren't mine or my girlfriends. In addition, if you want to get an extension to check out in case you overslept, you better call ahead of others since I wasn't granted this because 8 other hotel guests requested before I did. I felt very rushed to check out on time. After explaining this to the hotel manager, he just apologized and that was it. Other than that, it was ok.

Nice hotel and excellent location. We were upgraded upon arrival to an ocean view. The only downside of our room was that we were woken up every morning by some mother yelling at her kids in the hallway. Parking was an extra fee that wasn't disclosed until I got there. The spaces were pretty tight. Since it was still the off season, I was able to take advantage of the street parking on the street.

We stay on Pacific beach several times a year (because of location). The Best Western is located close to great dining and entertainment. We didnt receive the best service though. The rooms are older so they had a funny smell to them, aparently your room will only be made before 9AM and we had a leak in our bathroom sink which needed to be repared (could not be used). Overall, great location but not the best value on Mission BLVD.
