"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Affordable Quickie in NY"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012

"Eastgate Tower"
nothing glamorous but clean and affordable
"Enormous room"
Though the fixtures and the facility are a little dated, the midtown location is great and the room was gigantic for Manhattan -- kitchenette, two closets, sitting area, table/desk.
"Great!!!"
When staying at this hotel, I was provided the best service ever. The location was close to everything. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would love to stay there again and will recommend to many..
"Good place"
Good price. Good place

"The Eastgate: great for extended stays"
When I come to NYC for weeklong stays, I enjoy the Eastgate due to its large rooms, plentiful plugs & closets, and full kitchens (I love having breakfast before leaving my room). It is often hectic in the small lobby but the staff are always pleasant. It is convenient to Grand Central and airports.
"Eastgate Tower - Clean and Convenient"
Murray Hill neighborhood, close to Grand Central, plenty of fine but inexpensive restaurants. Hotel rooms are spacious and well maintained, with kitchenette (ours was immaculate). Very friendly and helpful staff.
I've stayed at this hotel before, and been more satisfied. This visit, I was given a peculiar room that was handicap-equiped, and otherwise not very appropriate. The bathroom was a long corridor with a walk-in shower. Water from the shower drained into the bathroom corridor.
"Excellent location"
Very clean and convenient. Very close to Grand Central and all the trains, busses and subways. Tho the charge for wifi was high, the front desk pointed me to Starbucks and MacDonalds. Lots of free hot spots in NYC, especially in the lobbies of museums. The big win was getting a quiet hypoallergenic room - I scored a room on the 20th floor with a great […] view. I could even see the Empire State Building! The hypoallergenic request gave me a super clean room with the usual dusty bedspread removed. The kitchen was a bonus. Very nice to curl up with tea in the evening, and lovely to have breakfast when I wanted it. Also nice was a grocery store in the next block. Read more
"Eastgate Tower Hotel"
The Eastgate staff were excellent and the hotel is conveniently located in a nice neighborhood. The rooms are convenient with kitchens, but the hotel rooms have not been updated in what seems to be about 25 years. Old industrial carpet and cheap finishes abound. Could be much nicer with some renovation and contemporary style added. Should be renovated […] for the price of the rooms. Read more

"The Eastgate Hotel - a nice place to stay"
I chose to stay at The Eastgate Hotel because it was close to where I needed to be and the price was right. My room was nicely furnished, clean and quiet. I found the kitchen to be very handy and useful dealing with the leftovers I brought home. I definitely plan to include The Eastgate Hotel in my visits to New York.
"Eastgate Convenience"
The hotel is very convenient to the Midtown tunnel and Long Island City. The neighborhood is relatively quiet at night which is good for those needing to catch up on some sleep. The rooms were very big but the furniture was dated. Not bad though.
"Huge Suite"
Was given a free upgrade to the larger suite. Wow. This is definitely the place to come if you're traveling with friends or family.
"Eastgate Tower Hotel"
Old decor, but incredible location, friendly service, massive suites (cheaper than most rooms in town), and perfectly clean. Nothing to not like.
"the Kings stay at Hotel b"
Well the hotel was nice and the staff was pretty nice, and the lady in the front desk was very pretty and nice, lol. but the only thing i didn't like was the parking deal. Me and My cuz stay two days and had to pay $70 dollars to park, and we didnt even use the car. Besides that nice place to stay.

"Good value for the money"
My room was huge, but most of the furniture looked like it came from a thrift shop in Brooklyn. However, the bed was fine and the price was right. For a convenient place to sleep while on a business trip, you can't beat it.
"Hotel has seen better days"
This hotel seems in desperate need of an overhaul.
"EASTGATE TOWERS, NYC"
NICE LARGE ROOM, GREAT LOCATION, LOVED HAVING THE KITCHENETTE.....THE STAFF COULDN'T HAVE BEEN FRIENDLIER AND MORE ACCOMMODATING!
"Nice stay!"
Early check in and staff found us a room and let us have access. Very friendly staff. Maid staff friendly and rooms nice size though a bit dated. Biggest negative? Mattress was not up to our standards. Close to the un and union station. Market nearby and cabs available. Nice base to operate from.....nice low rate.

"Great location for the price"
We stayed here over Christmas and were pleasantly surprised considering some of the other reviews. A big plus was the kitchenette and large walk in closet + additional closet space provided ample storage. Nice king bed and not too noisy. Wish they offered a small breakfast for the price, but hey the location was ideal- 5min walk to Grand Central to […] catch the subway anywhere you want to go from there. Read more

"Close to Grand Central, Large Apartment Rooms"
Eastgate pluses - close to Grand Central, nice neighborhood, plenty of affordable restaurants and drug stores in the area. Rooms are apartments with kitchens, very large by NYC standards. Room was very clean, but furnishings (including TV) were outdated. Basic cable, pay internet in the rooms. Hotel lobby needs refurbishing, as does the hallway carpeting. […] But for the price, can't be beat. Bring your own shampoo and soap (or buy at CVS walking over from Grand Central). Very comfortable bed. Read more
"Eastgate Towers, NYC"
The Eastgate was headquarters for a big family weekend event. Everybody loved it. Service was spot on. Personnel were super friendly. Neighborhood is quiet and convenient and there are tons of good places to eat. Easy access to Grand Central and Penn stations. The price - an amazing bargain!
"Great Experience"
The East Tower hotel far surpassed my expectations. The costumer service was great from the second we walked in the door to the point of check out when we needed to store our bags during the afternoon. The location is great only a few blocks from Grand Central Station, Fifth Avenue, the Rockefeller center and walking distance to Times Square. Great […] bang for your buck! :) Read more
"Satisfactory"
Nice size, roomy jr. suite. Small, functional kitchen. The room appeared dated and the carpet probably could've used a shampoo. Local attractions fairly close, walking distance. Internet access for a fee. Easy access to taxis. Close to restaurants, drug stores, market, etc. Satisfactory stay for a family of four.
"home for the holidays at Eastgate Tower"
As a native New Yorker-turned-Texan, I have tried lots of different hotels on my visits home, and this one was the roomiest. We were upgraded to a one BR apt, which had a huge living-dining room with fold-out couch, and the bedroom was also large and had 2 queen beds. Having the full kitchen helped us with breakfasts for 4. The hotel is 25 stories high […] and our room, a "B" room, faced west, (I think B and C face west, D and E north, A south, etc.--there are 7-8 apts per floor) with a lovely view of midtown. The next building over obscured the Empire State Bldg or we would have had a perfect view of it. The building was quiet, with a nail salon 2 doors away, and we could walk to everything we wanted to see in midtown--Macy's, Empire State, Fifth Avenue, Park Avenue, Madison Avenue, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central, Times Square, etc etc. We actually walked to the Met, but that's about 2 miles....We ate at a little restaurant on the block, Sam's Place; it was great and open till ten (we got in on a late flight). "convenient - comfortable - not exceptional"
For the price these rooms are comfortable and have the advantage of a kitchen (with very few cooking items but good for breakfast or lunch) and a table to sit at. The rooms over the midtown tunnel exit can be noisy during rush but overall the place is quiet. The maid service is variable. One day the room was so so, the next immaculate. Staff also vary […] from cool to very helpful. Read more
"great pet-friendly option in midtown"
We LOVED our stay at this hotel. The staff gave us a free upgrade to a huge two bedroom suite. We had our little dog with us, so it was great to have all that space. They only charge a one time pet fee of $25. There is a little dog run park just a few blocks away near 41st and 2nd. Just a short walk to grand central, times square, Rockefeller center, […] and the UN. Some decent food and bar options very near also. We would definitely stay here again. Read more
"Not for snobs but great for independent travellers"
Staying at the Eastgate Tower is like renting your own apartment, but with daily maid service. I had a full, small kitchen and the grocery store was right around the corner making breakfasts and snacks very inexpensive. 3rd Avenue buses are also around the corner and the subway four blocks away. So if you know your way around and can take advantage […] of the conveniences of having your own apartment this is a great place to stay especially because the price is reasonable even for a rather large "junior" suite. The location is a bit out of the way, and the lobby will not impress snobs, but the savings made it worth it. The staff were all excellent. Read more
"Old and in poor condition"
This hotel only had one thin blanket and a sheet on the bed. The sheets had static electricity so bad. We couldn't use the heater because it created a continuous, loud clicking noise. We slept in our sweat pants and sweat shirts. We were cold and uncomfortable. Bathroom floor was freezing cold. TV remote did not work. Furniture is old and banged up. […] We heard all our neighbors in the hallway, talking and slamming doors. Don't come here expecting a romantic getaway. Sad. Read more

"Convenient, comfortable"
This hotel will not win any awards for style, but for the price it was very good. The room is quite large by NY standards and has a convenient refrigerator, small microwave and coffee maker. Everything in the room worked. I especially appreciated the good temp control, I get so annoyed when I am too hot or too cold in a hotel room. The location is convenient […] to Grand Central so its easy to get around . There is nothing all that fashionable/chic nearby, however the neighborhood is quite safe and has all the necessities - grocery, drug, in easy walking distance. It is annoying that they charge you for the wifi. Read more
"6 blocks from Grand Central Station"
Although the heating system was difficult to adjust to our needs (too warm the first night, too cold the third night), the location was reasonbly close to transportation centers, making travel around the city convenient.
this hotel needs a renovation!
"Eastgate Tower - Great Value!"
Never having been to NY, we had sticker shock when we started pricing hotels. We settled on this one as it was lower-end priced and seemed to be a good location but we were apprehensive. We were more than pleasantly surprised! The staff was great - very helpful and friendly. The room was large with a kitchen so that we could eat meals in our room. We […] were within walking distance of Time Square, Rockfeller Center, Grand Central Stations. Definitely would stay here again and would recommend to other bargain travelers not needing a glitzy, fancy place - just a decent room! Read more
"Eastgate Hotel -- A Good Choice for Many (not all)"
The Eastgate Hotel is a small -- 25 floor, 225 room--apartment hotel on 39th Street, in the Murray Hill neighborhood near the East River and the United Nations. It was built as an apartment building, so all rooms are efficiencies. Kitchens are small, but have everything you need to cook, even for a longer stay. One-bedroom units and junior suites are […] quite large; standard rooms may seem compact. We enjoyed being in a neighborhood that was not jammed with people, unlike the hotels around Times Square. At the same time, it was just a few blocks' walk to all the subway lines in Grand Central Station, and city busses were just a block away on Second Avenue. This is definitely not a luxury property like the grand 4- and 5-star hotels, but the longer we stayed the more we appreciated it. Elevators were compact and crowded during rush hours, but crowded elevators are common at many big city hotels. Our junior suite was quite spacious. The art on the walls wasn't my favorite, but that's not uncommon. Booking and paying well in advance got us a better price and value than at other hotels we considered. I believe the funds are fully refundable until a few days before arrival. Read more
"Disappointing room on the East Side"
This was my first visit to an Affinia hotel. The suite was enormous--a bedroom and a living room with a full kitchen and two bathrooms. However, there was an opened bar of soap on the floor, one thin blanket with not an extra in sight, and no health facility whatsoever. I travel often to this area but would not stay here again.
"Good for having flexibility of breakfast and snack"
Would have preferred a king size bed in a room that was very big . TV was old but worked well.No safe in room but in front desk.
"Good location,service, and confort"
the hotel is near Times Square, fifth ave and the UN yet it is very quiet at night. Great for people interested in sight seeing and not wanting to spend much. The rooms are super clean and having a kitcken, a fridge, and a toaster was very convenient and a big plus. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
