Over all, it was a great experience with a great staff. We did request extra pillows, and there were none available, which was disappointing. Our HVAC unit did not operate at all, no AC, no heat, no fan, but the weather was mild, so it wasn't unpleasant, just unexpected.

We were a group of 7 (4 kids ages 8, 7, 4, and 9 months) as well as 3 adults. The 2 BR, 2 Bath, with kitchen was perfect for us. The living area was spacious too. The staff was so friendly when we arrived and Patrick the bellhop could not have been nicer. We parked our van there and they whisked it away as soon as Patrick took all the bags. The room was clean and very comfortable. For sure the room is dated, but not to the point of really making any difference at all. There was hardly any street noise, except for the occasional siren. We walked with the 4 kids in tow all the way to Central Park, Times Square, Empire STate Building, and the American Girl Place. I would say at a leisurely pace it takes about 30 minutes to get to Central Park. It really is a good location. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We were very pleased with our stay.

My wife and I were looking for a hotel which would allow us to cater for ourselves for breakfast, give us enough space to chill out in the room if we wished to and in which we could get a good night's sleep whilst being in a good location. The Eastgate Tower Suite Hotel managed all of these. Less than 10 minutes walk from Grand Central Station meant easy access around town with a Metrocard, but still allowed us to be in a quieter part of town, meaning you could turn the aircon off & open a window without hearing horns all night. Carol, Donna & all the other staff in reception couldn't have been more helpful. It is fair to say that the decor is a little past its best in places, but that did not detract from our stay. If you are looking for what we were, it comes highly recommended.

The room was outdated (furnishings from the 70s or 80s). It did have a kitchenette (with a stove, sink, and small refridgerator) and was clean. The room was large. If it was updated, I'm sure the price would be much more. If you are looking for economy and not luxurious surroundings, it is a good deal. If you have back trouble, the bed may have been a problem- it was worn, felt like I was sliding toward the middle. It was within walking distance of Grand Central Station, and was located in a relatively quiet area.

If you don't mind 1970's decor, our family suite was huge, had 2 full bathrooms, spacious livingroom, firm & comfortable beds, cold a/c and a functioning though rundown kitchen. The sofa would be more at home in a dumpster and the microwave was tiny, but none of these details mattered to the 4 of us. We enjoyed having a space that was comfortable and easily accessible to Grand Central & Times Square. Our major complaint was the $15/day WIFI fee. Staff was helpful and courteous & housekeeping surprisingly provided daily.

I have stayed at the Eastgate before, many years ago and my wife and I were pleased. The location is nice although a hike from the subway. The parking is expensive--$34 per night. I think they should make better accomodation for those few guests who need a car in NYC. At least it is directly next to the hotel. The internet is not free which they should consider changing. The room was fine and has the advantage of a kitchen. The a/c was more than adequate. In the end, it was an acceptable price per night: certainly good by NYC standards.

Times Square is a short walk away and Grand Central Station is about 4 blocks from the hotel. Bryant park was a nice place near by as well. Buy a Metro pass and you can ride the subway and buses all over town. Not a lot of good places to eat close to the hotel, but there are a few small markets in the area. 3rd Avenue has a lot of restaurants and bars. The Go Shuttle will take you to and from the hotel (shared ride) for around $20/person. The hotel was clean, but not the most modern in furniture and extras, still a nice place to stay. I would surely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel from July 15th through the 21st. The hotel was very conveniently located for travel around Manhattan and was within walking distance of anything in Midtown. The beds were comfortable and clean, but the rest of the room needed some serious cleaning and updating. I didn't feel comfortable walking on the carpets without my flip flops and the bathroom could be a lot cleaner. One thing I really did not like was that I asked for a non-smoking room because of my severe allergy to smoke, and I could immediately tell upon entering the room that someone had smoked in the room at one point in time. The building is a converted apartment building and there is nothing that can be done to mask smoke. It still lingered in the room and every morning I had to battle my congestion and allergies. People who are very allergic to smoke should stay away from this hotel as they cannot gaurentee a true non-smoking room. We got a very good rate and the room was spacious and if you can deal with the lingering smoke, than this is a very good bang for the buck.

The hotel was in a good neighborhood with plenty of deli's, markets, and small diners. Walk to the subway/Grand Central Station was very doable. The hotel itself needs major updating. The room was big and comfortable with a nice small kitchen. It was dusted, vacuumed, and the bathroom cleaned everyday with clean towels and linens but it really needed a deep cleaning. There were dirt marks around the handles of the doors and around lightswitches. The carpet could use a good shampooing. But all in all, for the price we paid through hotels.com, it was a good place to stay.

The room was amazing, really big and convenient. Bathroom size was perfect, it wasn't big and it wasn't small, but enough to do what needs to be done. The kitchen seemed like a good medium size, typical NYC size kitchens, but I can't say how well it was because we never used it. Over all, I would recommend the hotel to everyone, it was in a great location, only blocks from Grand Central, which made our trips back to the hotel at 2am very convenient. Another reason for the location being so great is it takes you away from the busy, noisy side of NYC to the quiet side, but at the same time isn't isolated from the city.
