The staff at the reception area seems to be annoyed with the clients they did not show a friendly attitude and seemed rather confused about what was going on with the 3rd party charge just a very unprofessional check in; but the cleaning stafff was great and that was all of the interaction. The room was good the bathroom was great would stay again I would just want a better rate. Thank you.

Doormen were awesome. Told me how to save the valet fee. Folks at the front desk, while friendly, couldn't print a receipt. Big rooms. Dated. Great neighborhood.
Location.
The Sofitel Chicago Water Tower is located one block from Rush Street nightlife and shopping on Michigan Avenue and Oak Street in Chicago, Ill. The John Hancock Center is two blocks from the hotel. Lake Michigan is five blocks away. Oak Street Beach, the River North Gallery District and Navy Pier are positioned one-half mile away.
Hotel Features.
Dining venues include Café des Architectes that features Cuisine Nouvel in a contemporary setting with a terrace and lounge. Le Bar presents floor-to-ceiling windows, low chenille sofas and a library area with fireside seating. Commanding views of Lake Michigan and the skyline are showcased throughout the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, including a ballroom with skylights with views of the John Hancock Center. Two complimentary business centers offer fax, photocopy and print services. Le Bar - A fiber-optic ceiling mimics twinkling stars in this cocktail lounge with a steel-topped bar and a library-style sitting area with fireplace. Serving an extensive selection of wines and champagnes, as well as specialty martinis and appetizers. Open from mid-afternoon until late night.

The hotel is five blocks from Lake Michigan, where guests can walk, jog, or bike along a 20-mile lakefront path. My stay was supurb. I couldn't have asked for better accomodations. From the front door staff to the front desk staff and also room service and cafe staff. "Perfect Getaway"
We greatly enjoyed staying at the Sofitel. Being Francophiles anyway, it was nice to hear "Bonjour" every morning, even with a Chicago accent.

This is a great place to stay in Chicago! The hotel room and staff were top notch. The bed is so comfortable! We found the location to be perfect. The only downside was the price of drinks at the hotel bar but that is the case at most hotels. We will be staying here again. Hopefully soon!

"Sofitel - nice but strange smell"
The location and building is amazing. The room had a musty weird smell to it. We asked to change to another room, and after much back and forth, we were given another room, smaller, that had the SAME smell. So maybe it's a problem in the whole hotel.

The hotel was beautiful BUT hotel worker knocked on my door 4 x in 24 hours.. I think that was a lot.
for such a high end hotel, rooms were standard hotel fare. small, a bed and a desk and a chair.

"Quality and excellent location in Chicago"
I took my two children (ages 14 and 11) to Chicago for their Spring Break vacation. The hotel, its staff, and its location were excellent for us. The area was very clean and safe, and we had easy access to downtown locations and transportation. I will definitely return for future visits!

"Sofitel Chicago - lovely hotel off Rush Street"
The room was comfortable and very nicely appointed, with a huge bathroom. It was very close to Michigan Avenue and really convenient for meetings in River North. Also never had trouble getting a taxi when I was in a hurry.

Nice location, great shopping and residential area. Hotel placed us on 6th floor out of 31 and in a handicapped room, with a view of a roof below. When I requested a change of room I was told changing was not an option. For the price (a suite) I would not stay there again.

The location is great - tucked off Michigan Avenue and with great views of the Hancock Building only a block or two away. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. The decor was comfortable. Did not like the over priced restaurant in the hotel, but overall, had a pleasant experience.

The amenities are the only reason I rated it a 4 - huge bathroom; very high-end freebies for body and hair care; cleaning service within hours of arrival; located within 1 block of water tower and great restaurants; nice lounge area; Here is why it's not a 5 - aside from bathroom, the room itself was too small to be a junior suite; not enough lighting […] and difficult to find; contemporary but mediocre decor; Overall, I left feeling that this was nice but not a great value for what I paid. It was a toss-up between here and Trump. It left me wishing I'd chosen the latter. Again, not bad but I've had much better at half the price. Read more
Not exactly what I expected. On the 20 th floor-the view was of another building...the room is small almost as well a the bath tub...even the king sized bed seemed small... I would not stay there again. Very expensive for what is offered.

"Great Business Trip Hotel"
Updated, good food, clean-contemporary room, friendly-professional staff. Will absolutely make it my regular Chicago hotel.
I asked for plates and silverware which were supposed to be delivered to my room but never arrived.

Had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Very clean, staff was very helpful and kind and the beds are so comfortable. The location is right in the heart of Chicago and in walking distance of Rush street with many shops and restaurants. I will definitely be returning to this hotel.

We brought our 6 month old baby with us and were very impressed with the hotel. The room was so clean that I had no problem letting our baby sit and play on the floor. We requested a crib and mini fridge, and the hotel provided both (no extra cost) and also gave us a baby "kit" that included baby shampoo, lotion, bib, and a cute stuffed bear. The room […] had a bath tub and separate shower, the linens were clean and comfortable. "Softel Chicago"
We have stayed here several times over the past several years. The hotel has always been fantatastic in the past. However, it's becoming a bit run down, in need of a "tune up". The little furniture in our room was old and uncomfortable. Even comforters looking dingy. dissappointing. AM lobster omelet horrible, lobster old, threw up.
Only thing missing was my husband!
