Nice location, updated and modern, clean hotel. Rooms were small. Service was spotty, had issues with sewer smell in room, they were slow to respond and at times gave attitude about issues. Overall, ok hotel but felt not worth the cost compared to nearby hotels.

I was in a deluxe double and, for the life of me, I still can't get used to the sizes of the hotel rooms in Europe. Size aside, our room was clean and well appointed. The location was great: 2 minute walk to the Luxembourg Metro station, 2 minute walk to Luxembourg Gardens, 3 minute walk to the Pantheon, 10 minute walk to Notre Dame and minutes to about […] 30 different bistros (although all of them were tourist traps with sub-par food in my opinion). Clean and very nice hotel near Luxemborg metro stop. Walk to Notre Dam (15 min) and see lots of the great restaurants and shops along St. Michele. I would recommend this hotel for its price, location, and comfort. The Hermes toiletries don't hurt either!

Tiny cramped room that it is well appointed. We slept well and the linens and pillows were comfortable and soft. Due to lack of space in the room, two of us were tripping over our (carry-on only) luggage and couldn't keep the cabinet door closed. Bring disinfecting wipes: the toilet is in its own closet with no sink (which means one cannot wash hands […] before opening door). Sink and tub/shower were in a separate closet. Bathrobe and slippers are provided. Due to space constraints, I would only recommend this hotel for solo travelers. Don't even think about staying here if you like sleeping in comfort and not in a hot box. The climate control does not work and even though you can push the buttons, everything is controlled somewhere in the lobby. They only have a heat or cool setting. Circa 1922. I checked out early and moved hotels because I couldn't take it.

The room was typically small for Paris. It was clean and reasonably well appointed. However it was supposed to be their deluxe double room. The A/C did not work which made the room stuffy and we had trouble sleeping in the bed which needed a new mattress. We were moved to another similar room and had the same issue with the bed and A/C in this room […] as well. This hotel is in an excellent area for a tourist stay but is not worth the rack rate. I chose this hotel based largely on the reviews I read and I was quite happy w/ my choice. The room was a good size w/ a desk and chair and ottoman. I was pleasantly surprised as I've been in hotel rooms in New York City that were smaller so it was a good size for Europe. It was within walking distance of the Lourve, the Sorbonne, Notre Dame, the Museum […] of Modern Art and several other attractions. Several metro stations were also near. I was on the 3rd flr and the room looked out onto Rue Cujas. The only small criticism I have is that the hotel does not provide wash cloths so be sure to pack your own and on the weekend there was a bit of noise so you may want to ask for a room on the higher floors. Over all we were satisfied with the hotel. On the weekend it was a bit noisy outside as a pub is located at the end of the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotels location is terrific, close to restaurants, the Metro and Luxemburg Gardens.

This hotel is in an ideal location. It is close to all the main streets and places of interest. The metro for the airport is a block and a half away ( one third the price of a taxi and very safe!). It appears that in the height of tourist season the hotel decided to give the elevator a face lift without any regard to the guests. They did not even offer guests the option of changing rooms if they were inconvenienced ( there was an elderly couple staying on our floor and it was awful to watch these folks climb the spiral steps everyday.) The room was lovely however if you are elderly, have any problems with your legs or bring children beware of the extremely tall and slippery bath tub. It was a nightmare getting in and out of it every night and I am fit and tall. The hotel offers wifi but you have to keep asking them for a code. It became a bother after a few days. If you can overlook these things then stay here because it is central to all the major sites. Read more

This is a nice little hotel. The rooms are tiny, but very modern and clean. And they have all the expected features, like a safe in the room and a work desk. Wireless internet is free, but neither me nor another guest could get it to work; they do have wired internet and that worked great using my 802.3 cable. Daily breakfast is terrific; but not included […] in the room price. Main drawback is that despite its statement, this hotel does *NOT* have a usable FITNESS ROOM and HAMMAM. The "fitness room" is a tiny closet with 3 exercise bikes and a flat-screen tv. You have to ask for them to unlock it for you. They apparently included it as a check-off to say they have a fitness room; not to allow you to, say, have a real workout. There isn't even room to stretch. They should not be advertising a fitness room. The "hammam" (Turkish bath) is also tiny and has no visible steam/sauna controls or plumbing. It's just a tiny little room with blue tiles. Read more

Arrival: nothing special to be said, everything was ok with the check-in. Polite staff, except that they forgot to mention about the fitness and steam rooms. If it wasn't for hotels.com we wouldn't have known. Room: very nice design, great location. Clean too. HOWEVER, beware those rooms are extremely small (especially for those used to the American […] sized ones). And by small, I mean you've got just enough space to move around one end of the bed to the other one. But, of course, that's Paris and is more or less expected. Amenities: no coffee machine which is a big negative for us. Fitness room - three cardio machines and a bench, but no weights. (Seriously, no weights? there's not much more you can do, but dips.) Didn't use the steam room, so can't comment on that. Looked ok though. Service: if you think that the "do not disturb sign" will keep them out of your room, sorry, but that's not the case. If they see you exit the hotel, they'll send the cleaning lady despite the sign (which we had left on purpose in order to arrange our belongings before she came -- you don't want to leave anything expensive out.) Overall, I'd say the hotel is alright. Expensive for the service you get, but that's Paris and at least you've got a good location and clean rooms. Read more

PROs: This was a good hotel in terms of location, and boasts a very modern interior design. The rooms were clean and well maintained. There was only about 3 feet of clearance between the bed and the walls. The sink and shower were in the main bathroom, while the toilet was in a smaller bathroom across the room. This would have been ok if there was a sink with the toilet. Nothing serious, just awkward to walk across the room to wash up. The breakfast is divided into two options. the 10 Eu continental, which comprises of only some baked bread, croissant, cup of juice and cup of coffee. Then there is 20 eu buffet which is much better, with meats etc... However, in our entire trip to Europe this was the most expensive breakfast by far. There is just soft drinks and water - so when checking out at the crack of dawn with no time to spare I was upset to be charged. The other thing was that there was drinks missing […] when we checked in. I did not think we were going to be charged so said nothing. Ended up paying for those too - small but really annoying. Grand Hotel St. Michel was an adorable, quaint yet chic hotel that definitely met my expectations. I did quite a bit of research for a hotel in the Latin Quarter and I based my decision on the overwhelmingly positive feedback from others on Expedia which was right on. I believe the hotel was recently renovated and you can tell. The room had AC but was adjustable, we didn't even need it. The bed was very comfortable and it was quiet. Our room faced an internal courtyard. We were upgraded to Deluxe room which was a nice suprise. We had originally booked a Superior room and it was a decent size. I was expecting it to be smaller. However, if the deluxe room was not so big, I can't imagine what a classic or superior was like. If you are looking for big rooms, I think you'd be hard pressed in most hotels in this area. The location on Rue Cujas was also great. I took the RER B straight from Charles DeGaulle and got off at Luxenbourg -- a very short walk. The area also felt safe and we were a stone's throw away from the heart of the Latin Quarter, St. Germaine de Pres and cross over to Notre Dame/La Marais. We didnt rely on the staff for help/directions/suggestions but they were generally nice and immagine they would be helpful if we needed them. I have stayed in numerous hotels near the Latin Quarter over the last ten years during my bi-annual trips to watch Wales play rugby and this is just about the best hotel I have found in the area.
