We just spent 3 fabulous days in this charming hotel. The location is amazing with shops and restaurants all around. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful and very nice. We especially enjoyed the use of their Bicycles. Breakfast was also included with great coffee in the morning. Ask for their amazing cookies...yum We both recommend this place and will stay again next year :-)). M

Stayed at The Hotel in early September with my parents. The welcome from Evelyn was incredible, she was so warm and accommodating and went out of her way to make sure my parents were happy and comfortable. The rooms are nice and very clean with our 4th floor room being very bright and great views. Breakfast was only ok - but the coffee was good. Worth staying here.
"Fantastic place in the heart of Edgartown"

Absolutely fantastic place...the staff were always warm and friendly and always willing to help in any situation. The rooms were great and well appointed. The fourth floor balcony offered great views of the harbor and the downtown streets. Special thanks to Wes for all your help!

I'd give this property 3 1/2 stars if I could. Visited for 4 nights with my husband and 3 teens. Because of the length of our stay, renting a house did not make sense, but we wanted a little more room than 2 standard hotel rooms. Vineyard Suites definitely offered that--we got 2 bedrooms with a full bath in each bedroom, plus a living room with pull-out and a galley kitchen. We also had a nice little balcony that looks out onto the street for fun people-watching. There was another balcony located off the master bedroom, but unusable (including keeping window open in that room) due to loud ACs blasting right outside. Location is perfect-right in the thick of things in Edgartown. Rooms are nicely decorated, pretty fresh, nice spacious bathrooms with lots of drawers and cabinets. Kitchenette had decent size fridge which came in handy for dinner leftovers that we ate the next day on our balcony. One of the guys at the front desk (Wes, I think) was helpful, friendly, generally hospitable. The others on the front desk staff, not so much. The rest of the hotel is functional, but as I mentioned in the title of my review, just missing something-it has a cold, austere feeling--not the kind of place you want to sit down and relax (and that includes the breakfast area, which is a couple of small counters with pastries and some quiche and 3 small tables crammed into a corner off the lobby). Also, unloading and loading the car is a circus act. There is no legal place in front of the hotel to stop and unload, so mid-way through unloading my husband had to move the car. When we left, we had to wait until we found a parking spot near the hotel so we could get all our bikes on our bike rack. Our parking spot (came with room) was two blocks away. Local valet co. uses the same lot for evening parking, so when we arrived back to the lot in the evening, there was complicated maneuvering for us to get into our assigned spot.

Planned a short stay and last minute plans. Audrey was so very helpful with finding a room and went out of her way to call me back when she was able to find what I needed. The hotel is in the most perfect location in Edgartown (and this is from someone who has visited the island at least 50 times) Love it here. When trying to get a rez for Chesca's restaurant on a busy Saturday night, Nina called ahead for us to secure a spot- even tho they don't take reservations. All in all couldn't have been a better stay even on a rainy weekend in August!
"Great Location, Nice Hotel"

We took the Falmouth Ferry over and this hotel was just a block away and convenient to the beach, shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. We used the complimentary bicycles to visit Oak Bluffs, Tisbury and Vineyard Haven which was enjoyable and affirmed our decision to stay in Edgartown. The complimentary breakfast each morning included cereals, breads, quiche, ham filled croissants and fruit by the piece. Our room was called a Cozy Queen and although very small was quite comfortable and well equipped. The bathroom was a good size and recently updated. The front porch is lined with rocking chairs and was a great place to visit with friends and people watch. The only negative was the fact that the doors were old and allowed for a lot of noise to come in from the hallway, but most guests seemed to recognize this and so traveled the hallways quietly. I would definitely stay here again!
"wonderful location...a few glitches"

We stayed at this property for four nights and had a great time. The location is perfect, with lots to do right outside the front door and a relatively short drive to the breathtaking beaches and hikes on the island and a three minute ferry ride to Chappaquiddick. The small suite we stayed it was comfortable and cheerful. The one drawback, and in my opinion it's a big one, is the only sink is in the bedroom at the foot of the bed so if I got up before my husband or went to bed later he was wakened by my sink/grooming stuff. The room seemed very clean but the daily vacuuming missed a lot of floor stuff. I asked that the room be cleaned on the early side and they were extremely responsive. We had a couple of small issues (lightbulb, internet, etc.). and the response was perfect. The staff, on our arrival was lovely and very knowledgeable. Subsequently, the staff at the desk often seemed distracted and were unable to answer basic questions. They weren't rude, they just didn't seem very interested. In summary, we loved our stay and would stay here again. I'm hoping the small above mentioned issues will be addressed so that a nice property will be even better. (oh...and hotter water for the tea, please)

The location is perfect! From the time we arrived until the time we left, Joanne and her staff were very accommodating. The inn is always clean and the front porch is such an amazing benefit. The rooms were cozy and we expected that coming in. We would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Martha's Vineyard.

My husband and I have stayed at this property for many years, going back to when it was the colonial inn. Charming building with many updates and they left the squeaky floors. Small but well appointed room. View of harbor from a shared porch we had to ourselves. Great continental breakfast and a fabulous staff. We were on the island for a destination wedding. This is the place to stay. In town. Near everything. Can't wait to go back.

This was out first experience staying in Martha's Vineyard and we stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Using the bus to get from the ferry to the hotel was a breeze. When we got to the hotel, later in the day, the person at the desk definitely could have been nicer. Didn't get an extremely warm welcome and was not given the gift card that is promised on the website for the midweek special. Was promised it would be ready the next morning as the manager had to get it. Came down the next morning and she had forgotten and we had to wait for the manager to go get it. Seems like they are advertising it on the site but aren't in a rush to give it to you. The front staff was very pleasant the other times we used it, just this one woman was not very friendly, so we avoided her if we needed anything. Here are a few pro's and cons to our visit Pro's: 1) Very clean, the porch was very clean and we constantly saw the workers cleaning the windows, sweeping, etc. The room was also very clean and well maintained. 2) The bikes provided were excellent and we used them to ride all around the island, they were schwins and very nice at that 3) They porch was great to sit on and they had a nice little outside area to sit and eat breakfast 4) On thursday they had a band playing outside in the front of the hotel which was a great feature we really enjoyed 5) The rooftop deck (it does have a roof) was great, it was right outside our room and since the room is a little on the small side we sat out there a lot Cons: 1) This is probably one of our biggest cons, the AC unit was situated right to the right of the bed on the wall which meant it was blowing on you the whole night. There was a way to adjust it to point up slightly, but the person on the far side of the bed still felt it. It made it very hard to keep the temperature and i had to get up in the middle of the night to adjust and in the end we usually just left it off for fear of waking up with stiff necks. 2) All INN's we go to always have a lacking breakfast so i don't know if thats just the way it is or what. I understand they dont have a kitchen and chef on premise but the food was mediocre at best. We went out for breakfast, one, due to the lack of variety, and two, because it ended it 930? i believe. We were on vacation and werent going to wake up that early to run down to get breakfast. Nothing warm was provided except for some ham and cheese item which i dont think is really breakfast food anyways. 3) The shutters in the room covering the windows don't totally block out the sun in the morning and they are very large thereby blocking the view unless they are opened and swung out into the room. Also, when you want to open the windows the shutters must be open, but there are chairs in front of the windows so each time the chairs must be moved and moved back. The room is too small to keep that chairs out so it was a pain to always be moving things around. 4) The stairs and hallway were not totally if at all covered with carpet. All hardwood floors, which looks nice but isn't practical when people are walking around early in the morning. The Inn was situated right in the town which was awesome as you could walk anywhere you wanted but for the price, the smaller size of the room, the lack of view, and the lack of breakfast we think we might find another place to stay if we were to come back.
