"Close to Work Site"
The best thing about the stay was the helpfulness of the staff. They did a good job at getting me into the kind of room I wanted as quickly as possible.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
New part of hotel was nice but i was stuck in old part. Musty smells, dark hallways but not bad overallGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good except for the smoke"
The hotel was comfortable and clean. However the hallways and rooms smelled strongly of different types of smoke. There are two separate buildings and we were in the far one which had no front desk service or any staff in the building at all at night. My room also did not have a phone which was strange and disconcerting. I think a stay in the main building […] would have proved to be better as I'm sure the unobserved smoking and availability to call for service would have been much improved. "Clean and Comfortable"
Nice, new hotel. Clean, comfotable and ticked all the boxes for our stay. Easy to find and the service was fast and friendly. Had a large tv in the room. Also, a microwave, coffee maker and mini fridge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel - but no elevator"
Was surprised to find no elevator in the hotel. Although day to day okay, but lugging the luggage up stairs was not a pleasant experience. There was also a lot of sound carry throughout hotel - could easily hear conversations in halls, between rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
Apparently the place was recently renovated and it showed. If all Super 8s were like this, if stay at them all the timeGenuine Expedia guest review
If I stay at another super 8 like this one then I will never stay at another one again. This super 8 bought a defunc hotel next to them there was no parking then as soon asI walk into the motel I get hit with this stinch of stale tobacco walk into the room and there is no iron or board, tried to call the desk and no one answers. Get up in the morning […] and want a cup of coffee great no coffee pot. Not happy at all for the money spent. I will let my freinds know about this dump Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super 8 Wetaskiwin"
When checking in I was almost charged again for my room, even though it was paid through Hotels.com. After that the clerk was not sure how to process the transaction so she had to email my bill to me. Not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience. Luckily I was paying attention and didn't just hand over my credit card. Upon arriving in my room I checked […] the sheets and the bed was DISGUSTING. There was hair, chunks of food (or something gross), and stains on the sheets and they clearly had not been changed. The floor felt sticky and there was an unpleasant smell. I checked the other bed and it seemed ok so I did not call down to complain. The bathroom was extremely clean and I have no complaints at all about that. The walls were extremely thin and I could hear talking and coughing all night. My neighbor was watching TV until about 1am and then turned it on again at about 5am and it was like the TV was in my room, so I was unable to sleep. All in all, I understand that this hotel is probably mostly used for people travelling for business but I would personally never stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very pleasant place to stay"
Everyone at the hotel in Westakiwin was great, very nice and polite and they did not increase their rates, as did the one in Camrose because of the jamboree. I would and probably will stay there again, as it was very comfortable. ThanksGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"First Time at a Super 8"

Yes, it's true I would normally choose any other hotel chain than a Super 8 given the choice. Not anymore. Our hockey team booked here for a tournament. I had read online about this hotel overbooking and quite frankly I was afraid because we were bringing 2 kids with us and really wanted a suite. We checked in at 6pm on a Friday and there were no issues however one lady on our team checked in at 8:30pm and her room type was not available and not ready. So she had a wait. Our suite was very spacious and everything was newer and clean. Perfect room configuration for a family. The pool was a huge hit with our team. The continental breakfast did the job for us and the kids. I had a late checkout and was accomodated well. I will look forward to staying here again when we are in town.

Hotel was good. Price a little high as the hotel down the street was cheaper and the quality is about the same.
"Lies, lies, lies and more lies …."

For over 5 years I’ve stayed in various hotels monthly, across Alberta, for business. Fortunately, I’ve never had the experience that I had at this Super 8. This particular trip was for pleasure, a family trip for a hockey tournament. The short story, this hotel routinely utilizes the practice of overbooking their rooms and then seemingly fills the rooms on a first come first served basis; a practice that, through my research, leaves the customer with no real recourse UNLESS they have PAID for the specific room in advance. The long story, I had reserved a Suite three months in advance through the Super 8 website and secured it with my credit card (which, according to their policy, would mean that I would be charged for the first night if I was a no show). I received an email confirmation with all the details and then called the hotel directly one week prior to arrival to again confirm the reservation etc. I was ensured that all was in order. My wife and family arrived at the hotel about one hour prior to the stated check-in time and were given a room; I arrived shortly thereafter to find that the room we were in was NOT the suite that I had booked. I went to the front desk to discuss the matter and waited patiently while the clerk (who had a copy of the Satanic Bible next to her … honestly) dealt with other disgruntled customers who were working their way through the same situation our family was in. Namely, they had reserved a suite and were told that it was not available. When it was my turn, my query resulted in no satisfactory resolution; and I was told that no other rooms were available. Not only was I given a room type of ‘lesser’ value, they had charged me the same rate as the suite; when I inquired about this she replied that I was given a room with a king bed. I said yes but that’s NOT the same as the king suite. Then she said that my original quote was wrong, “the suite costs more than that”. I provided her with a paper copy of the reservation that I had made (again from their own website) with the quoted rate right on it. I was advised that I could speak with the manager the next morning. The next morning I first spoke with the individual directly, who had verbally confirmed my reservation on the phone earlier that week, she told me that there was only one suite in the hotel and that the party staying there had been there for several months. I politely indicated to her that she was lying to me because the evening prior our team got together in that very suite that had been given to another member of our hockey team. I said that regardless of who was in the suite and their circumstances it was a moot point, and I wanted to know why my confirmed booking had not been honoured. She became much less cheerful and much more reticent. I had two questions I needed answered: What were they going to do to make it right? And if I stayed there again what would I have to do to ensure that I was provided with the room that I had actually booked? I asked to speak to the manager. He said my quoted rate was wrong, that in order to ensure the room I had to call the hotel directly preferably within the week prior to arrival. I indicated that I had indeed done that and he asked me who I spoke with and the clerk beside him sheepishly told him that it was her. After some more discussion he gave me a nominal discount which equated to the ‘government rate’ and said that he would give me a 20% discount the next time I stayed there. The important thing to glean out of our experience is, if you choose to stay here, do not expect that you will be provided with the room type and/or location that you reserve. Again, my experience at this hotel is NOT an isolated event; it is their common practice. The clerks that I dealt with I’m sure were doing their job as mandated by the management. Not a comfortable or enjoyable situation for the front desk clerks I’m sure. As for the room itself, other facilities, breakfast etc. What does it matter when you have to deal with lies, lies, lies and more lies whether on business, a family vacation, or otherwise?

The beds were comfortable and clean rooms, however the continental breakfast was awful, lacked variety and the eggs were petrified as were the bagels not to mention the condiments were outdated and therefore not edible. Toast or waffles were about the only thing worth trying. Or you could go to Tim's or McDonalds across the way. Not sure I would stay there again. The TV were all fuzzy and that made watching the final hockey game of the Olympics frustrating as you couldn't see the puck. They said all the TV were like that and it was the weather it was cold but not snowing. The older side had abetter TV reception not the new side of the hotel.
"Stay was Okay"

The property has recently been renovated and the rooms are very nice. Checked in at 2:30 and our room wasn't ready. We went out for the afternoon and returned at 6:00 and our room still wasn't clean. The manager was very friendly and apologetic and said they were short staffed and it would be done right away. Was able to get into our room by 6:30 p.m. Our TV was 'snowy' and when we phoned down to the front desk, they said theirs in the lobby were too and it was due to the weather. The next day TV was the same and the weather was clear... just cold?!? Continental breakfast wasn't great -- sugar cereals, only white bread and dry muffins were available. For the price I won't be staying here in the future.
"Pet Friendly too bad Bed very NonComfy"
02/25/14 ImFrmCanada Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Stayed here because needed a Pet Friendly room. Hotel is actually in two buildings. We were located in the one without the main lobby. You use your pass card to enter the building at all times.. so that is good for security. I knew I was getting a 2nd floor room, but assumed there would be an elevator... but only stairs. If you have mobility issues (which we did) you will need to make sure you have the main floor. Bed was very bad.. could feel the springs.. had to keep turning just to avoid pain. Room was clean.. and quiet... and large enough. Good water pressure and hot water. There is a KFC right next door.. and strip malls right there. Area was well lit at night and staff was friendly. The breakfast could sure be better.. I would stay again because of having a Dog.. but if I didn't need the petfriendly room I would try and find a place with a bed I could get a good night sleep in. Maybe it is all NICER and NEWER in the Main building.. and all the OLD beds are in the added part.. so I will hope for better the next time.. and ask for a main floor room in that main building.
"Stayed for a funeral"

We (me, husband and 3 kids 4 and under) really enjoyed our stay, we had the suite, it was very clean and comfortable. we needed an extra blanket and it was brought right away. We never got a chance to use the pool and water slide, but it looked like fun! The continental breakfast had bagels, toast, cinnabuns, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, apples, oranges, a make your own waffle (but the only toppings are butter and syrup) and some not very fresh looking scrambled eggs. Also had coffee, a large selection of teas, and orange and apple juice. Aside from the eggs (which we didnt try) it was good and quick, the breakfast room is very cozy and warm. The front desk girl hardly said anything to us, but when she did talk she was polite. The maintenance people we're friendly and directed me to my unruly children with a smile and a laugh.

motel room was clean with good staff. Issue was breakfast was missing some food items and management said that the supplier was out of stock with no expected restocking. We expect more service than received.

Although we encountered some problems with the room, the manager(tony) worked hard to right the situtation and we left happy and would return for another stay.
