"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

"excellent location"
Right on the path of the shuttles going to port authority in NY. It's located parallel to times square but on the NJ side. Place was clean and I didn't get bothered. Excellent for the price. Places to eat are abundant within a 5-10 minute walk and it is easy to get by on foot. Will stay here again. Left a 40' brand new flat screen in the room for three […] days without any incident. Hotel does have a $5 fee per piece for them to store luggage which I gladly paid due to all the benefits. Thanks. Read more
"Practical location to get to NYC"
The accomodation was decent and clean; the staff was pleasant and the price was good. Don't expect the Ritz accomodation at a motel price. My family was happy with the arrangements and we will stay there again if we go back to the area. The shuttle to NYC is very convenient and cheap, although it doesn't drop you off at the same location. We felt safe […] walking back to the motel after dark. Read more
"Not as bad as expected"
This was worth the money. It's not a new hotel, but it's been renovated and it is obvious the owners/management wants to please. Every effort was made to make our stay comfortable: front desk was helpful and friendly, the room had many amenities. There is a shuttle to NYC that comes right to the front door for only $3 each way. If you are looking for […] an inexpensive, no-frills place to stay so you can visit the City, this is the place. "It was just okay"
The hotel itself was decent. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were old but decently clean. The neighborhood was pretty sketchy and there was limited parking.
"Good alternative to expensive Manhattan hotels"
Exactly as advertised on it's HOTELS.COM description. It's a Super 8. No glamour. Simple breakfast. Tidy. Best selling point is the reliable shuttle to/from Manhattan for approx. $3/person. Staff is great at explaining it. Surrounding area is a bit "hood", but use your common sense, i.e., lock your doors, keep to yourself, don't talk to strangers with […] candy, etc... Read more

"Ohio to New Jersey to New York ..3/2/12-3/4/12"
Arrived very early in the morning around 8am. After driving for 12 hours we were not able to check into our rooms. They had us fill out the paperwork for the room, when I asked if we could get into the early,I was told no come back after 3pm.!!!!-So we had to leave everything in our van and drive to our first destination. Staying in New Jersey and going […] to New York there is a toll $12 and coming back to New Jersey there is a $6.50 toll ,this is if you drive. (they have shuttle service, they pick you up right outside hotel or a block down the street all day long( use this service-$2.50 a person) The shuttle doesn't bring you back to the motel at night . You get dropped off few blocks away. Pay attention to where you get picked up or dropped off.... We got to New York and found out they charge for parking we parked for 4 hours and cost us $36(they have cheaper parking) we went to the Staten Island Ferry.. So we decided to use the shuttle service the rest of the time and the subway ($2.50single ride). The staff did help us several times with getting around and glad they did(they even give you a map on how to get around and even highlight the hotel number in case you get lost)This was our first time going to New Jersey/New York and we had the best time ever and will do it again. Other than the check in the hotel was awesome. Thanks from all of us Chris,Rebecca,Austin,Summer,Mackenzie,Dakota, and Zoey Read more
"Ok you get what you pay for"
I had to be in NYC for business. Hotel was close to North Bergan park and ride so that was good. Getting in and out of this hotels is not easy!! Very tight parking. Room was ok, bed was hard, but room was clean. I wouldn't stay again
"Worst hotel"
I was their this weekend. Worst place to stay at. Never in my life returning to this place. Service sucks and so does everything about the hotel.
That was good, perfect area.

The staff was very friendly and informative, the rooms were clean and the complimentary breakfast was nice as well. Very affordable and conviniently close to NYC without the NYC price tag.

"Good for what you pay"
well, with the price you pay, you can't be too picky or expect the greatest thing. This hotel is like other Hotel 8's but with FREE Parking and in a good location if you want to go to NY. I recommend it!
"another nice stay"
you cant beat walking out the front door of the hotel and getting picked up and dropped off at times square. the toilet flushed fast and furiously, meaning LOUD but it only lasted a minute and then all was quiet again. we will stay here again and again. definately recommend!

"A Great Stay for the Price"
The room was clean (and cleaned/re-stocked well each day by our housekeeper) and had everything we needed for a great stay - including FREE breakfast that we were very happy with. We were there for 3 days total. The only thing I would have any complaint about is the 'shuttle' (which is actually just part of the public transit system). We we under the […] impression that it would drop us right by the hotel, but were not thrilled when we were dropped a half mile up the road and expected to walk the rest of the way (suitcases and all, on a sidewalk that is a death trap if you don't watch your every step). After we figured the shuttle out (some mornings it was right outside the hotel door, but others we had to walk up to it), it didn't seem as bad (they only drop you off up the hill b/c the hotel's highway is one-way). But, for your check-in visit (especially if you have heavy luggage) I'd recommend taking a taxi. Otherwise, it was fantastic...$3 each way, per person. At first, I was not sure about the staff. Over the phone I had to ask him to talk slower because I could not understand his heavy accent (which, he didn't take offense at, but rather apologized for). Once we arrived at the hotel, the same man was very friendly, and very willing to slow down or repeat himself if we needed. Everyone there ended up being very, very nice. My husband and I would definitely stay again, but budget in a taxi ride to and from :) Read more
"Super 8 in N. Bergen"
If you need something cheap, go here. Bed was hard, felt old, but clean enough. Good for only staying in at night and booking it to the city in the morning. The shuttle is a bit sketchy, but at the price, it was fine. You get what you pay for.
"Clean and cheap"
If you're looking for a cheap place to stay that's convenient to the city, this is it. About a 15 minute drive to Times Square, and they are also serviced by a $3 shuttle as well. It's obviously not super glamorous, but the bed was comfy, the room was clean, the TV and mini fridge worked, and parking was free. Couldn't ask for much else for the pri […] ce! Read more

"Super 8 North Bergen NJ"
This place is disgusting! Paper thin walls - SO NOISY!!! Every time someone in the hotel flushed the toilet we could hear a loud banging from the pipes. And it's located at a major intersection. The traffic sounds make it ivery hard to sleep here. To make matters worse the maids are very inconsiderate to the customers. My husband and I were woken up […] by them yelling spanish at 8am! The rooms smell like stinky feet. The bed covers had holes and stains on them. We had to change rooms 3 times before we finally gave up and left. Our first two rooms were so loud and dirty (one of the rooms had a poop stain on the rug!) After we saw that all the rooms were horrible we sacrificed our money and went to another hotel for the duration of our stay. I highly recommend Holland Motor Lodge in Jersey City. This place was heaven compared to the Super 8 in North Bergen. STAY AWAY! This place is located in a scary neighborhood too. Two locals we talked to told us to watch our back and don't go out at night. Read more

"Good but not great"
If you are looking for a cheap and clean place to stay close to Manhattan, this is the place to stay! I found the hotel staff was a little rude but nothing over the top. Everything in the room worked except the coffee maker. Overall my stay in the room was fine, I would stay here again if I go back to visit NY.

"Can't beat the location"
The excellent: The North Bergen, NJ Super 8 is just a stone's throw away from New York City. A mini-bus picks you up right outside the door and after $3 and about 15-30 minutes depending on traffic, you are at Port Authority and ready to enjoy all Manhattan has to offer. The buses run until midnight. They aren't connected to the hotel. The good: I […] was surprised at how clean and new and nicely furnished our room was. Comfortable beds, flat screen tv with cable, clean bathroom. The breakfast items are varied - toast, donuts, waffles, boiled eggs, cereal, milk, juice, coffee. And I found every single member of the staff with whom I spoke to be friendly and helpful. The not so good: The mini-bus drops you off at the top of the hill from the hotel, and you walk down. (It's a one-way street, so it has to be that way.) It isn't the nicest neighborhood, although you're mostly walking past shops and such, and if I were a woman alone at night I might have felt nervous. That said, we didn't see anyone scary. The parking lot is quite small, and the hotel was a bit hard to find. It's actually behind you when you get off the highway. And the breakfast room is tiny. If you have crowd issues, have someone else choose your breakfast items and bring them to you. I am definitely staying there again next time I go to NYC. Read more
"get what you pay for"
Good hotel, good service. The continental breakfest was pretty decent. Has your basics. The drivers on the bus that take you to and from NYC were a bit sketchy. But for $3 it was worth it in comparison to driving thru the Lincoln tunnel.
"close to ny city"
Ok for two people,, close to nyc , shuttle was great, only three bucks ea way,,, sufficient. For sleeping
"Bargain for easy access to NYC"
Great place for the price. Easy access into city. Return more difficult if you have a mobility impairment. Shuttle bus gate at Port Authority is as far from subway as can get. On return, drop off is some distance away due to one way street. This is only an impairment if you have difficulty with walking. Figured out solution was to drive to top of hill, […] park car in parking lot there, and catch the shuttle there. On return, drove back to motel. Read more
"Super 8 the closest to the LiconTunnel"
This hotel is the best if going to NYC. Just a few blocks away from the Licon Tunnel. The bus service to and from the city can not get any better. The bus picks you right up outside the front door of the hotel and takes you into the city for only $3.
"Too far outside"
First of all I'd like to say, that this was my first trip to NYC and I spend only 2 nights there. I was absoluteley not familiar with the public transportation service. The Hotel "Super 8" itself was fine. The Bed would have been big enough to have 3 people in there and it was very comfortable. The Room had a running A/C, HD-Television, a smaller fridge […] and a safe. The water in the bathroom was warm and clean (even though you can smell / taste the US-typical chlorine in there). The bathroom itself was good in condition and size. For that price I would totally recommend this hotel to anybody, who is looking for a decent place to sleep in. But here's the big disadvantage: This hotel is too far away from Manhattan. Especially when you are not familiar with the environment and / or language, it will take you for hours to get there in the first place without your own ride. I was trying to find help at a bunch of custumor service stations in NYC, but nobody knew the address or area I was trying to get to. And when I called the hotel for help, I hardly understood the men on the other end, due to his weak english. On the other hand, the hotel offers you a shuttle-service, which is good to get into the city, but not for coming back. It picks you up right in front of the hotel and brings you to "Port Authority Station" in Manhattan, but on the way back from there the small bus drops you off about 350 yards away to the hotel on a highway, with only a small sidewalk. Nice walk especially with a bunch of suitcases or kids. If you got your own vehicle, its no big deal, 30min. and you are downtown NYC, but considering that you rely on that shuttle, because no other bus brings you there after 10pm and a cab is more than $60, you're better off staying in NYC itself. Nice hotel in a rough neighborhood. A little challenging to get in and out of. But the room was nice, well maintained and clean.
"Comfortable, Clean and Good Service"
We found this hotel very acceptable and were pleasantly surprised with its excellent upkeep and very helpful and hardworking staff. Though the location is some distance from downtown Manhattan, travelling to and fro by the local shuttle bus was not only inexpensive but also convenient as it stops by every ten minutes. Further, good eating places are […] just a short walk away. We will definitely stay at Super 8 on our next visit to New York and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to our friends and business contacts. Read more
"Suer 8 hotel, North Bergen New Jersey"
The room was nice and clean. Each day our beds were made and clean towels were placed in our room. But the wall paper in the bathroom was peeling off. The Safe did not work. The room had older furniture, The bus to New York City came every ten minutes. It was easy to get into New York City and enjoy the day. The breakfast was adaquate. There was cold […] cerial, waffles hard boiled eggs and juice. Enough to get one going in the morning. For what we want it was fine and we would stay there again. Read more
"Great bargain!"
This past weekend was our 2nd stay at the Super 8 in North Bergen and both times my husband and I were very satisfied. When we go to NYC we like to spend most of our budget IN the city, and not on hotels, so this was a great find for us! Clean, comfortable, free parking, free wifi and a shuttle to the city - you can't beat it. The only downside is the […] last shuttle leaves the Port Authority at 12 midnight so be sure that you're ready to retire for the night by then, or have the extra $$ for a taxi. Read more
"Not luxurious, but great for the price"
Stayed at this hotel when I brought my son to NYC to start college and I was pleasantly surprised. As you know, hotels in NYC are EXPENSIVE so I picked this hotel for the affordable price and I really wasn't expecting much. But the rooms were spacious and very clean. The shuttle into the city was a great feature. For only $2.50, it brings you to the […] Port Authority and picks you up there up until midnight. The breakfast that is included was adequate and the waffles were great. All in all, a good deal. I will stay there again whenever I go to NYC. Read more
"Close to NYC"
We got a comfortable room, clean and well-maintained. A quick shuttle that stops right in front of the hotel gets you into the center of Manhattan in 10 minutes, and passes by frequently. The only major problem was that the breakfast area was really small, and even though the hot, fresh waffles (you make) are great, it's hard to enjoy it because there's […] only five chairs, and you'll most likely end up standing to eat. Personnel were correct and willing to help. Only reason we didn't stay there again was because it was fully booked during our dates. Read more
"Convenient Location"
The location of the hotel is very convenient. Driving in the city is terrible and parking is really expensive. We were able to leave our car at the hotel and take a 15-20 minute ride into the city everyday. It drops you off right at Port Authority. The hotel is not luxurious whatsover, but it is comfortable.
"Best hotel for NYC"
Very friendly staff and very clean rooms! Great roomservice and a cheap shuttle service to Times Square (2,5$ per person and way). RECOMMENDABLE!

The air conditioner drained into room! Big language barrier! Bad bad English! Rude at times. No parking pool or extras at all! Not worth the rate I paid! The rate I paid a pool should have been there!
"Good for the price, but woudn't stay here again"
I stayed at Super 8 with my family for 5 days. We traveled from California for my sister's graduation held in NJ, but we also wanted to stay near Manhattan. It was definitely a good price and the shuttle was good to travel to and from NYC, but the last shuttle was as 12am so it was hard to stay out late unless you wanted to pay a premium cab ride. The […] major con is that NO ONE wants to travel outside of NYC. It'll definitely cost you. So it was an okay stay, but inconvenient to get to and from NYC for a reasonable price. Also the airport ride to and from will cost you no matter what. So take that in consideration. Read more
"great"
there was a shuttle that took you to downtown manhattan every 10 minutes, it was incredible. The whole set up was perfect, getting back was super simple.
"Super 8 New Bergen NJ"
Good price, front desk service friendly and helpful, complimentary breakfast is good - complete with waffles. The only reason I would not recommend this hotel is due to the location. The neighborhood scared me a little bit. I did not venture out of my room, unless I was taking public transportation. It's right off the Lincoln tunnel road with cars speeding […] by, narrow space between fence and cars to get into a parking spot. No good view from the hotel, anywhere. "Don't take a shower!"
The only good thing is that the heat worked. The picture online looks nothing like the in-person visual you get. It looks like the projects in the ghetto and the place is dirty. I took a shower and the water would not drain out, my roomate still had to take a shower so we called housekeeping. Housekeeper came with a plunger for the bathtub and after […] it was plunged, the water did go down but the bathtub was then filled with disgusting guck and filth and I felt like vomiting as I tried to brush my teeth. I then called and asked if there was another vacant room in which a shower could be taken and they said no and that was that. Do Not Go!!!
