The owner of this hotel, doesn't appears to care much about his property. The place is in need of a lot of repair a good cleaning. I checked in at 6p and was supposed to be there for five days. When I got up at 5a I was canceling the other four days. This hotel is for a true adventurer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad hotel. Don't stay here"
I do not know how this hotel has a 3.2 rating. Staff was unfriendly. The appearance of the hotel was scary. Continental breakfast was A joke. I would have left but could not Afford to. Do not stay here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Super 8, Orangeburg, S. Carolina"
Very helpful staff & a well maintained facility. Not very convenient to the Interstate, and breakfast area is very small. Good value for the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old and Outdated"
I called Hotels.com before checking in due to seeing several dogs in and out of guests rooms and the surrounding neighborhood was the greatest. Considering it was just myself and my teenager daughter staying the night. They were unable to relocate me to anything decent. I would have paid the penalty. I decided to stay since I knew we would be leaving […] by 8 am due to an event we were attending. Room smelled old and mildew. Not a great nights sleep due to hotel being on busy street with traffic thru the night and a truck parked in the parking lot running its engine through the night. Old and Outdated. Won't stay again. It's an older hotel, but it was okay for the price.

I stopped in Orangeburg SC late, and I dropped by Holiday Inn Express to find that they, and all the other hotels near the interstate, were full up. Undaunted, I checked my phone to see if there was something not so near the Interstate that might be less likely to have filled up, et voila, I struck upon Super 8. When I arrived and checked in, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the room had been updated recently, the bed was comfortable enough, and the amenities were sufficient. But, alas, that's where my enthusiasm for the stay took a nosedive. I had rented a non smoking room, but it was obvious the room had been smoked in some time earlier. but, hey, it was Super 8; I expected no less, really. However, the perfumed, Febreze-imitation cover-up had nearly covered all the smokey stench, though, as I wandered the room, I was occasionally briefly accosted it. Exhausted, I laid down and tried to sleep right away, but the sudden biting at the back of my throat and the precipitous onrush of post nasal drip and wheezing caused by the perfume nearly caused me to get up and leave. Why I didn't I still ponder. I guess I was very tired and didn't think I could find another place to stay. At any rate, things got worse, and by morning I was hoarse, draining gallons of snot, had bronchial spasms, my heart rate had doubled, and my voice had dropped half an octave. The paper-thin walls combined with the frequent passage of whistling freight trains and the booming car stereos were but frosting on the exquisite happenstance that was my stay at Super 8. That was Saturday night, and today is Tuesday. I still suffer significant respiratory after-effects of my encounter with the perfume and it has ruined a long anticipated vacation. Thank you very much, Gopal/Super 8.

We stopped on our way from Ohio to Florida and the room was clean, and beds were clean. Beds were full size and pillowtop. Shower had hot water, and ice machine had ice. Those were our needs and they were met. Breakfast was cereal, a waffle iron, frozen egg and cheese omelets and frozen cinnamon rolls but they were good and everything was clean. We enjoyed our stay and the man at the front desk was very nice. I believe he is the son of the owners. The outside looks worn and old but pull in and stay a night.
"No interior hallways"

We had asked the person taking our reservation for motels having interior hallways. She booked us into 2 motels neither of which had interior hallways. When you get to the motel it is too late change.

"Don't judge this book by it's cover!"

Booked online and paid for it and when we got to the hotel I thought oh my goodness what did I rent for the night. Walking to the room and checking in I thought the same thing. I was very, very pleasantly surprised when we got to the room though. It has been updated, was very clean, the beds were super cozy, and we couldn't ask for much more in a room. The only complaint was that we were on the bottom floor and the people upstairs partied all night and made a lot of ruckus. Nothing we could fault the hotel for. Would definitely stay here again!

It was a low cost clean room. The owner was nice. The "breakfast" counter was not very good but didn't expect much for that price. Bed was fine. Typical miserly water pressure for this type place but water was hot.

NOTE: I thought I'd posted this last year, but found it "incomplete" when I went to post in Jan. 2015 after another stay. Mar. 2014 Review: Second stay after stopping here last year (2013) enroute from FL. Neighborhood looks "iffy" but felt comfortable walking our dog on residential street behind motel. Room had been newly painted and was very clean. Staff friendly. owners live on site. "Bad odor" in lobby mentioned in another review may have been curry smell wafting from owner's kitchen adjacent to lobby. I love curry and wished for a dinner invite, and the delightful smell lingered the next morning... If you don't like curry, this could be a negative. Ate at the Italian Greek restaurant right across the street both times... friendly place with excellent pizza. A group of tree trimmers from IA and KS have been staying here for a month. They were polite and friendly; went to bed early, got up early. We'd stay here again.

I never confirmed the reservation with the email sent by Book.COM in Facebook. I had a family emergency that took me to Charleston to Medical University of SC.When I called the site they said I could cancel but fee was same as the night's stay. Unless you rectify this It is unlikely I will book with you again!

For the past 3 years I have attempted to reserve a ground floor room. Each year I have been put on the 2nd floor. Last year I broke my knee cap and had to be carried up the steps...as there is not another way to get to 2nd floor. This year I called the Super 8 reservation line....still placed on the top floor.
