Super 8 Austin Downtown / Capitol Area

Although the rooms are a little worn, the rooms are well maintained and clean. My room even had a couch an a easy-chair. Wi-Fi works great. Hotel staff was professional and friendly. Room always cleaned thoroughly and promptly.

We stayed here because there was a reservation screw at another hotel. This motel is older the furniture is old also but the rooms are well maintained and clean. No bed bugs in either room. This is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for. The room was old style and in need of paint, but clean. The TV was fairly old, but had a good selection of cable channels. One soda machine was out of order and the other was sold out, which was particularly irritating as I had to walk a ways to find a store to buy something. The pool was also closed […] and the staff couldn't say when it would reopen. The location is about a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown and Capitol, but not bad if the weather is OK. The staff is very rude at this hotel, and would not cooperate and try acomodate our needs. We booked a room for 4 people and we had to go in 2 cars, the hotel said that we could only park one car at their parking lot and that the other one had to leave. The reason we got this motel was because it was close to a wedding we were attending. It was very disappointing to find out when we got there that their pool was broke. Our grandkids were with us and one of the reasons we chose that motel was because it said it had an outdoor pool. They wanted to swim since it was so hot but we were never told their […] pool wasn't working until we got there. That is pathetic since they probably knew if we were told it was broke we wouldn't have stayed there. The motel people were unfriendly and the parking was ridiculous. We were in Austin for an event at UT. The location is wonderfully convenient to UT and Downtown. Very close to all the touristy things. My only negative would be the hotel is a bit run down, but then again if it was remodeled I wouldn't have gotten such a great rate. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. It is ran down and in need of renovations. The pipes are loud, you can here the people in the next room talking, and the rooms smell terrible. I am amazed Super 8 allows them to keep there name. If this was the first Super 8 I had stYed at, I would never stay at another one.

Hotel is situated smack in the middle of all the spots one would likely visit on a vacation. It's not the newest hotel or the spiffiest of rooms but, when on vacation, one tends to only sleep in the room, not live there.

The guy at the reception was very unkind: i knew i could check in not earlier than 3pm but i got there @2.40pm. I kindly asked him if i could anyway and if he could check if my room was ready. This was the most horrible place to stay at. We were in the room for about an hour when we started to get bites. We packed up very quickly and went across the road to another hotel!!. The room stunk of smoke, the bathroom was dirty and mouldy and felt very unsafe in the room. The front staff were rude and not helpful at all.
