Super 8 Sturbridge - Sturbridge

We stayed one night before helping our daughter move out of dorm for the summer and found a new place to stay when needed over the next 3 years. Room was clean and comfortable with the only drawback being the size of the bathroom. Continental breakfast with cook-your-own waffles was great.

I needed a place late while traveling and this seemed the best option since it also featuerd a larger micro-fridge and microwave. The room was nicer than I expected for a Super 8. The decor was a bit old, but clean, and I was surprised that the bathroom had been completely remodeled with marble tiling. The hotel, in general, was being taken care of […] with great care; they were changing the mulch and landscaping when I left. The bed had a cheap mattress which was pretty hard-they could definitely upgrade these. The town of Sturbridge couldn't be more quaint and beautiful, but it's a bit off the Interstate. My original room had not been cleaned but the second room was really nice, bed comfortable. Staff were very nice and accommodating, embarrassed by the situation. I appreciated having the microwave and fridge since I was there several days. It was relatively quiet, even with being on a busy highway. Slept like a baby!

We stayed at the Super 8, we were surprised by the size of the room. It had all of the convince of a good hotel. My only problems were that their was not HD flat panel TV's and the bathroom was extremely cold. The shower was very hot but when you got out you froze. We stayed for 2 nights and even when the bathroom door was open and the heat in the room […] was on it was still like Antarctica.... The only other thing was breakfast they supplied a decent amount of foods but the choices seemed not to be fresh. The milk was a bit old and started to smell like it was going bad. The coffee in the room was horrible but the coffee at the breakfast was enjoyable. We would stay there again but it definately was not a five star. Read more

We booked a room here because of convenience (we were attending a two day program in Sturbridge) and the ratings we read on line. The hotel was minutes from our venue - couldn't have been more convenient. Check-in was prompt and easy until we got to our room. The bed was in pieces, the mattress standing on end. Went back to check in. Many apologies, […] assigned a new room, entered the room to find a couple on the bed. We went from no bed to people in bed. Went BACK again, finally got a vacant, intact, clean room. The hotel has recently been refurbished and updated and is clean, comfortable, and modern. It has the basics and was worth the rate we paid. But it is definitely not upscale and if you are looking for any amenities at all (aside from free parking and TV), look elsewhere. We are going back for another 2-day event and most likely won't stay there. Read more

room was very clean , however the people above us were exceptionally noisy. We called to have our room changed but there was no availability. The front desk made several calls to that room but to no avail. Finally, at 3:00 am, the pounding ceased and we were finally able to sleep. It's a nice hotel, I just think that we just happend upon a day where Newton's Law was in overdrive that night. First of all the front desk manager was awesome, she had no problem accomodating our special needs. The rooms were clean and mostly new, the bathroom was sparkly and everything smelled fresh. TV's was SD (kinda a bummer, but this is Super8 not the Ritz-Carlton) but the beds and pillows were great, soft warm and comfy. The only one draw back is that […] the heating/AC unit was a bit loud and without it on the room got cold very fast. Also, the wallpaper near the H/AC unit was peeling and probably should have been addressed. we needed a stop-over on the way further north and this was perfect. Right off I-84 in the evening and right onto I-90 in the morning. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast more than adequate and the staff was helpful and friendly. A great find for a great rate.

Conveniently located across from Old Sturbridge Village and near major highways. Hotel staff friendly. Room was clean and overlooked a lake (that for some reason was mostly dried up). We were on our way from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA to Torrington, CT. Did not want to drive in the dark so chose to stay overnight in Sturbridge. Simple yet adequate room, good breakfast (fresh waffles!), nice desk clerk. A good choice and easy to find right off the highway.

Okay for overnight, but thought we were getting 2 queens instead of a king and a foldout couch. Foldout couches are never comfortable. Thought also that I was dealing with the hotel with reservation and it turned out I had been directed to a third party (making the reservation in the car via iphone and ipad...). By the time we got to the hotel, we couldn't […] get the AARP discount and we had overpaid by $22 - a "fee" to the third party, I assume. The breakfast was pretty standard continental, nothing special. There was no public bathroom close to the breakfast room - a problem since we had already checked out and given up our keys. The clerk was trying to be very accommodating, but there was nothing she could do about our booking issues - although she did give us a new key to our room to use the bathroom before we left. This Hotel now allows Dogs to stay. I always felt that the rooms were very clean, however this time , upon entering, we had to open the window & run the fan, as there was a pungent odor about the room, like old dog. I think they should keep the Dog Rooms segregated from non dog rooms. Thank you very much.

After traveling for quite a distance we arrived one hour early and wanted to use the restroom - we were told that the lobby did not have a restroom - when asked if we could check in early were told - well that would be an extra $10 - we then went to a local McDonald to use the facility and sat in the car until check in time at 3 - when we went to our […] room - I specifically wanted to stay at the hotel because of the balcony overlooking the lake -well the balcony needed paint and repair - it looked unsafe even to stand on - we were on the second floor - the balcony above us was full of moss and the railing was in need of paint and repair - the lake was a green slime (really not the hotel fault on that ) - the table in the room looked dirty - when using a worn out wash cloth to cleanse the table - it went from worn out to black - we then washed down the tv and dresser - and then decided is this where we want to spend two nights - and both of us agreed No and left and found a wonderful Comfort Inn down the road and were very pleased with the accomodations. Unfortunate for me I didnt complain to the front desk when I said I was checking out - the front desk person barely lifted her head - I should have taken pictures of the balcony and therefore lost my money for the hotel stay. Lesson learned. P.S. the windows displayed on the hotel are not real - they are painted on windows which gives the impression of a real window. Read more

We got a smoking room because when I Expedia, that was the only thing left in their bookings, but this room smelled just like and ashtray, it’s like you stepping in and ashtray full on butts, after we ask the front desk is there was another room available non-smoking and the answer was yes, but it could of done without the big spider.

There was a live beetle bug in the bathroom, hair pins on the bathroom floor, the face cloths were supposed to be white but they were gray, a mirror was missing over a second sink, there are weeds growing on the sidewalk going into the room, the bathroom door had filthy fingerprints all over it. Only complaint is that we did not get a non-smoking room. Room needed a few cosmetic pick-ups (paint on bathroom door, for example) but was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was OK. Service excellent, nearness to a nice restaurants great, access to highways and local roads perfect.
