"An older facility that is well located"
12/10/14 Franklin H Spring
This is not a new motel. I'm guessing it has been there for years and shows some wear and tear. At the same time, the rooms are pleasant, the bedding fine, and there is a fridge and micro in each room. People are nice and overall, a good place for the money.

Only paid 49.99 so I didn't expect much but was disappointed. I'm not a clean freak but our room could use some work. Stains throughout and bed not very comfortable. Good: good water pressure, coffee in rooms. Good front desk service. Easy access with fast food nearby.
"Decent Stay but has it's issues as with any hotel"
12/07/14 geohut Amarillo, Texas
Room was clean. They let me check in very early--like 10 am. Bathroom shower needs a little tilework and drained slow because of the hair screen. TV channels are not that great, several channels of the same thing only at different qualities. I thought that was funny. Door was hard to open and close. I did not like the fact that parking was in the front only and you had to walk around to the top floor in the back. The back 2nd story rooms have a pretty decent view of the apartments next door, talk about reach out and touch someone. I could see the people in the apartments next to the hotel very clearly as they did things in their living room. (thank goodness they were modest people) Seemed like all the storage of old pillows and things were located in the back of hotel where the other rooms were. Breakfast----well if you have to choose from instant oatmeal, raisin bran, the traditional waffle or danishes-----It wasn't that great actually. The tables were usually not clean the two mornings I spent there. It was quiet though and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very helpful. I could not get a receipt because I booked through an online company--the desk person began giving me a lesson in simple economics...LOL How booking online through a search provider cost me more than if I had booked with them online because I have to pay a "finders fee" true but---NOT TRUE. I am a very frugal and I comparison shop. I told her that it was actually cheaper than their regular rate of 70 something dollars. She said their rates change minute by minute depending on the market......simple Economics she says. LOL ok. Thanks for the schooling. Overall, was not too shabby. I would probably not stay here again unless they offered something more substantial for breakfast choices.
"Room was nice and clean, bed was comfy. Not much for..."

Room was nice and clean, bed was comfy. Not much for amenities just soap...& not enough towels. Breakfast was hardly existent: waffle maker and store bought Danishes and bread. No eggs or bacon or sausage. Just juice & coffee, no water? Staff was nice.

Don't stay here unless you plan on not getting any sleep. Being that it's an outdoor hotel, you can hear EVERYTHING. People yelling outside, people stomping up the stairs, and people staying in the rooms next to you and if your on the first floor the people on the second floor. Bring ear plugs! Also the room that I stayed in was horrible, the sofa was super dirty, the bed was so hard, and the towels were thin and scratchy. The bed only came with 3 pillows and they charge extra if you request another pillow or towels. I killed 3 earwigs that were crawling on the wall (at least it wasn't roaches) but I really wish I would have paid extra for a better hotel. Cheaper isn't always better... The only good thing is the free wifi.
"Not terrible, not great"

As a roadside motel, it smells and looks cleaner than expected. But the sheets didn't fit and the tub was covered in stains, as it's an old building. This was my third stay here, and it's getting better. It could be that I'm just getting used to it.
"Nice, but needs help."
11/07/14 Ken J Forest Ranch
Our stay at the San Marcos, TX. Super 8 last week was the 2nd year in a row. This facility needs some repair and upgrading to make it worthy of the $179 weekend rates imposed due to an event in Austin. Rusted out and leaking tub, missing toilet seat cover, easily plugged toilet and dirty carpeting. The staff, especially Pamela, were their usual outstanding hosts, even offering us another room when we mentioned the above, but it was not much better (missing hair dryer and electrical plug cover next to sink, etc.) We will likely stay there again next year due to built relationships. Hope it has been remodeled or cleaned up a bit then.
"room is basic, but don't stay for breakfast"
10/21/14 cnspostma Lakewood, Calif
We stayed in a double queen bed room for two nights during the third week of October. The room was basic and what you would expect for the price. We were told it included a full breakfast and that turned out to be false! There was a couple of small apples, some toast and two cereals and a waffle machine. The coffee was non-existent and no milk available. Not quite what I would call a full meal............ We had to go elsewhere to pay for a meal and weren't very happy about that! We won't be returning the next time we are in San Marcos----- There's lots of other motels in the area!
"Business Owner "
I stayed here 5 days while attending the IMSA and WEC races and was well satisfied with the service and accommodations. It was clean and everything worked fine. The shower was great with plenty of clean thick towels. All the desk workers were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable. Although the parking was paved there is not much parking and no parking for any large vehicle.

Let me get the good part out of the way early. It seemed clean. There was a microwave, and a refrigerator. This is one of those motels where the latest arriving guests and their children will parade by your room until nearly midnight, all of them making plenty of noise on the way. If on the second floor, you'll haul everything up some small cement stairs that didn't fit my size 13 shoes very well. Room AC worked well, but little else did. Smoke detector hung a half a foot from the ceiling over the bed by a wire; I set the room clock radio five times to no avail; a tile was coming off the bathroom wall; missing knobs and switches in the bathroom; TV remote worked only partially; several room lights didn't work but were just unplugged, and the bedding smelled as though it had been there for quite awhile. Use the bathroom sink, and it would fill with water and be slow to drain. "Breakfast" was either wheat or white toast, a couple Activia's on ice; some very small apples, and a waffle maker I didn't dare try. Coffee was nearby. Thought I might "tough it out" on the road for another night or two and asked to extend my stay. But when they told me the nightly rate would then increase from $79 to $119 for Saturday and Sunday night, I thought "they've GOT to be kidding" and bailed. Thank goodness there was a beautiful new Courtyard a few miles south!
