    Everything was fine based on what you would expect from a "discount" hotel chain, except one thing. The mattress on the bed was THE WORST I have ever slept on in a hotel. I stay about 100+ nights in hotels annually, and this one takes the cake for worst bed.

    The hotel was okay and adequate for one night stay. The one thing I did find an issue was the fact that there is no elevator and my wife and I had to lug our luggage up a long flight of stairs. The staff was friendly and the room was very very clean.

    The room was clean and nice. The temperature outside was in the low 40's and the AC was on high when we walked in so we had to wait a while before the room felt comfortable. Breakfast was beyond what I expected but still nothing to brag about. My only real gripe was with the staff.     I relied on reviews on Hotels.com to decide to stay at the Super8 in Escanaba. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality while still getting the famously reasonable rates of Super8 I did have to lug my suitcase up stairs since there was no elevator but the front desk offered me a ground floor room and I refused. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again […] for that trip through Escanaba. I probably would choose somewhere else if I was vacationing in Escanaba but for the money the Super8 Motel delivered!     The staff was really friendly. I stay in hotels every week for work. This wasn't the nicest hotel I've stayed in by far, but for Escanaba I feel it was quite nice. I wasn't at the hotel much, but when I was I had no problems.

    Only one problem at the motel, there were people with fishing boats, parked in the parking lot, that took up two spaaces each. I didn't think that was fair when we got back to the motel, and had to park a long was from our room entrance!

I guess if you would rate this hotel among your typical 2 star hotel like Motel 6 and Days Inn then it would probably come in at a 4.0.out of 5 But if you are comparing this hotel to a Hampton Inn or a Courtyard then you would have to give […] it a 2.0 out of 5. It is great for those on a low budget and those use to doing without the frills (like wireless internet). Otherwise the Comfort Inn which was sold out would be my first choice.     The hotel was nice-staff very friendly. One caveat-2 stories with no elevator. Also my room was supposed to be a suite and the Web page said refrigerator and microwave but we didn't have either one. Parking lot was very crowded every night.
