Super 8 Midlothian/Richmond Area - Midlothian

I needed 2 nights in midlothian on a small budget and that's what I got. Breakfast ends a bit early though here. It's not luxury but it was a good price and it provided me a nice place to spend the night.

Overall very satisfied, price was very low. Quiet, large rooms, free though limited breakfast (they did run out of coffee 1 day and waffle batter the next day). TV in room was old, not so great picture. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

I reserved the hotel room several weeks in advance, King non- smoking. I paid in advance, nonrefundable. When I arrived they told me that they did not have the King bed, I would have to take a double, handicapped roo. My sister who booked after me and reserved a King sized bed, non-smoking got her room. It is what is is; if you're looking for a cheap place to crash for the night, then it's perfect for you. If you're looking to spend evenings IN and hang out in the room; spend a little more and get a nicer place. Overall I was satisfied with the accomodations.

The phone and clock radio in the room were unplugged and not functioning when I arrived in the room. Simply moving the furniture and replugging the devices was not sufficient to restore service. The remote control was missing the battery cover so the batteries fell out when I picked it up. The east facing wndow drape appeared to be broken and did […] not shade the morning sun from the room. The free WiFi internet service was frequently offline and the staff was argumentative and slow to address the internet access issue. The management could greatly improve their weekend breakfast service value by extending their hours from 6am until at least 9:30 or 10am. When first checking in they asked for my vehicle information and when I went to check my license plate, the clerk snapped and said the color would be ok. Then I noticed a smell of cooking food that didn't smell pleasant at all and engulfed the whole hotel except for the room. Upon checking into my room, the strong odor of air freshener greeted me, which I thought would ceratinly be a sign of cleanliness. Unfortunately, the bathroom contained hairs leftover from the previous tenants, the carpets were filthy, and the room was cold because they had turned off the "heat". I put this in quotation marks as their heat is a machine […] in the wall used for either heat or air conditioning. You have your choice of hot/cold, and it will run until you are sweating, and have to get up and shut it off in the midde of the night. I paid for (3) nights, but could only stay (1), as I woke up with a migraine headache due to the extreme amount or deodorizers they put into my room. The "free breakfast" consists of stale bagels and English muffins with warm juice. I ended up staying with family members for the rest of my time in Virginia. When I went to check out, the clerk never even asked me how my stay was. She may have been lucky that day, however, I wanted to make sure that people actually heard what this place was REALLY like. I read the reviews online, and saw all good remarks when I was booking my travel. If I had read what I just wrote, I would never have stayed here. I am hoping to spare future travellers the same pain I went through. To the owners of this establishment, I used to work in a hotel, and it is shameful the way yours is being run. I hope you hire better housekeepers, a new manager who cares, and for goodness sake, VACCUUM THE STAIRS!! Read more
