Super 8 Rochester/South Broadway - Rochester

On first impression, the hotel is old but well maintained. As we walked into the lobby, there is an overwhelming smell of cigarette smell and deodorizers. Our room was overall okay, if you don't mind the smell. We are non-smokers and had a "non-smoking" room. Personally, it was too much for us. The towels felt like sand paper and frayed at the edges. […] Towels also smelt like they had been washed with other towels from smoking rooms. Heating/ AC was loud with limited settings. Old TV. Internet access good. Breakfast very mediocre. I opened window to get fresh air. Screen on window ripped at bottom, and cigarette butts where on the ground outside the window. Our hospital stay ended up being longer than expected, so after our 3 night paid stay, we checked out. We relocated to Econo Lodge down the street on our 4th night. For about the same price, Econo Lodge was FAR BETTER. We already have reservations at Econo Lodge for our next trip. Read more

The check-in guy was very nice. I am not able to lift much and hadn't realized there wasn't an elevator when I made the reservation. The guy carried my bags upstairs for me! The room was nice too. Drive to the Mayo Clinic was very easy. Very close to several shopping stores, especially WalMart & Kohls.

The staff was extremely friendly, and there's an amazing sushi place that's within walking distance. We were only in town for a short while but this hotel was a nice place to just relax. The rooms had many needed amenities and very comfortable beds.

Adjusting thermostat yielded no change in the stifling heat in the room. Wall mounted lamps over the night stand and desk did not work. Other than cold cereal and make-your-own waffles, breakfast consisted of mass produced cellophane wrapped baked goods. Stay away from the West end of the building - road noise all night.

We've stayed at this motel more than a half dozen times when my husband had to go to the Mayo Clinic. It's a very convenient location and the rooms are nice sized and are quiet. There is a free shuttle to the clinic that runs numerous times each weekday which was so nice when we were just finding our way around town. We arrived to find people installing new flooring; we left a week later and it was finally done. We were supposed to have breakfast daily; 2 days we could not get into the breakfast area due to flooring work -which was stripped the whole week down to cement; the internet was then unplugged and we had to go to the public library to use the computer to […] email; I was there for major surgery and we ended up having to stay 2 times a long - we were locked out of our rooms when I returned from the hospital - forwhatever reason - some kind person held the door for us or we'd probably have been locked out of the back door at 8:30 pm with someone just released from the hospital too. The "guest laundry" had just been "upped" to $2 per load to wash and then $2 to dry; the 1st night the clerk chewed on my husband for needing quarters... no offer was made to give a coupon for the missed breakfasts, just had to get a surgery person up and go eat somewhere as well no offer to allow any use of another computer-which they had on site... this was without a doubt the MOST POORLY handled motel stay by a staff I have EVER experienced - and I am a raod warrior - traveled over 30,000 mi a year by car for 20 years... this took the cake; if I were Super 8 I'd have these folks head on a platter... oh -and to top it off, some of the cleaning crew didn't speak or understand enough English to even be able to communicate whether to clean the room or wait... .. The bed and pillows are very comfortable and my room was quiet, even at the top of the steps. The water pressure in the shower was good. The hotel does seem a little tired. This is a comfortable hotel, reasonably close to Mayo clinic by car or free shuttle. Friendly hotel staff - and was very helpful for us to add an extra night. Free use of the local YMCA for guests. Free local newspaper.

Need to Read - "Pet Freindly" line a little closer - Had to shield my kids and dodge a dog in the lobby. Rude counter help. You get what you pay for - If your looking for inexpensive - it's exactly what you get. Also, I would make sure not to prepay in case you need to leave earlier than originally planned.

Hotel was NEAR MAYO which was the reason for our week long stay. The Toilet kept Running and was LOUD while I was SICK!!!! We arrived earlier than expected and they were able to accommodate us with a room on the first floor. We didn't have to take a room on the second floor which this facility does not have an elevator and I have difficulties walking stairs. I would like to see hotel guests who still smoke in a different location other then near the front door.

Nothing overly spectacular. We needed a cheap place to stay for a couple of days, and this particular Super 8 fit the bill nicely. Don't expect anything fancy here; keep shopping if you are. On the other hand, if all you're looking for is a decent night's sleep that's on the less-expensive side, then this is your hotel.

It was quiet and convenient to the Mayo and St. Mary's hospital. We only needed a 1 night stay inbetween appointments at the Mayo and a procedure at St. Mary's. We reserved this room to break up our trip from Nebraska to Wisconsin. We arrived at 10pm & the clerk checking us in had the bedsheets piled on all the tables, not sure if they were clean or not. We got into our room & the humidity could be cut with a knife. We turned the air on (it was a 100 degree day & it would've been nice if the air had been turned […] on already since they knew we were coming) but it never got the room very cool or got rid of the humidity. The air conditioner let out a musty smell and was noisy all night long. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling, tiles were broke, insulation sticking out from behind the shower head, toilet was dirty and the bathtub floor was dingy. Pay the extra $20 to stay somewhere nicer! We thought Super 8 was a trusted name, so that is why we booked there. Never again! Read more

well I looked for hotels with pools and booked at super 8 believing there was one which there was not. the hotel had stray cats wandering the parking lot the bathroom was not very clean and was extremely tiny the breakfast was dry and probably old. the homes next to the hotel are unkept. the staff was away from the desk anytime we went by there.

The hallways smelled of smoke and some type of cleaning solution that burned my nose. I had a non smoking room but it was obviously next to a smoking room, as well. The staff was polite and accommodating. The place was quiet, as well.
